  1. I hope its easy to keep updated. The more I learn about Drupal the more im impressed. Now don't laugh, but after seeing this drupal site: http://sparkleshelf.com/ I was inspired by the design. So I've decided to take a slightly different route and follow some of those design concepts. One great thing about Drupal is user profiles can be customised. See: http://sparkleshelf.com/users/annrichards So you can have a facebook experience, with other Japanese car enthusiasts.
  2. I'm not sure what post-package is? It is a commercial version of Joomla? Or another CMS? To be honest I've given up on Joomla, I use it for frontpage articles on this site, but for me its too clunky and set in its own way. The Admin GUI is probably the best feature in it, but even that has its limitations. Given my time again, I would have built this site using Drupal or Expression Engine. All the features that are on this site currently are managed by 3 separate pieces of software making maintanence and security updates a real pita. Drupal seems very flexible in the way you can set it up and its this flexibility which makes it difficult to learn. Themeing for example is a bit harder than it is, say with Wordpress or Joomla, but there are so many things about it that make Joomla look bad. For example you can set up multiple websites off 1 install. I'm going to be doing this with Vintagejdm.com and Carbonmotorsport.com, vintagejdm is for early Japanese car enthusiasts and Carbonmotorsport.com will be for the later cars like Skylines R32, Silvia etc.. One other great feature is your theme's are very much object oriented in the way they inherit. So for example: I could write a base theme for layout and icons to be used in my theme and I could have a sub-theme for vintagejdm.com and carbonmotorsport.com which change the colours only or logo etc... Bit difficult to explain, but for me Joomla is just too Joomlaish! There isn't even a simple forum solution for Joomla, they run phpBB on their own website!!! Which is terrible as you have to register twice on the Joomla.org website. Once if you want to participate on forums and twice if you want to add reviews to extensions and components. Not to mention the search feature on the site only covers either the Joomla side, or the phpBB side.
  3. Here is a preview of Vintage JDM. I'm not happy with the design yet. I'm probably going to change it.
  4. Damn, wish I could make it. Take plenty of photo's guys to make sure those who miss out, won't next time. Do you have funding of the Jag Club covered?
  5. It was actually built by a guy in NSW I think his username on this site is Nixcars. Very nice car, prefer it when Nick owned it and it didn't have the huge rear wing, but to each their own. It was also featured in Street Machines and you can often find a copy of it on Ebay. Can't recall issue number sorry.
  6. Thread locked...
  7. I may have edited Dimitri's post based on the Terms and Conditions as I mentioned above. I've decided to lock this thread as I think all that needed to be said has been said and moving forward the best thing to do is lock any further discussions.
  8. Take photo's! Be good to see her running and complete .
  9. I've seen worse, a lot worse. Only in the US of A . Seems so many buy a Z and try turn it into something else over there. I guess that's the hang over of having so many available.
  10. Sounds like a very reasonable price and good deal to me. Good luck with the sale.
  11. I personally love the Gnose. Its makes the Z look more modern This shot I think is a good comparison of standard front end vs Gnose. I personally didn't like the Gnose till I saw it in person. For some reason in photo's it doesn't quite look right but in person it looks fantastic.

lol, yeah you do look a bit high there. Stock springs?
  13. Wow, crazy looking Z. I'm sure its not everyone's cup of tea, but it sure is unique. Not sure if I'd have gone with black myself but it looks quite stunning. I believe those are Type B flares. I'm curious as to what's under the bonnet.
  14. Hi Everyone, For those who have donated in the past, I've just sent a list to Sulio with your addresses and he will be sending you guys some free stickers to put on your Zeds. If you donated and don't receive a sticker in the next couple of weeks let me know here. Thanks once again for all your donations and I hope the stickers look good on your cars . Cheers, Gavin.
  15. Jay Leno has a couple of articles worth a read on alternative fuels. http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/jay_leno_garage/4261712.html http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/jay_leno_garage/4237807.html
  16. I did get in contact with Vilidini Motorsport regarding featuring their lovely SR20 Z on this site. I might remind them again and try and get them to provide some details on the SR20 swap itself. I think that would be a really useful article and as you say would help others who want to go through the process.
  17. I won't argue with you about any of the points you mention as I've not had any first hand experience with the stuff, but if you watch this video (granted it promoting the use of Ethanol). You will see that the opposite appears to be true: It wouldn't surprise me if either side crop / fuel industry were twisting stories for their own advantage, but if a fuel burns greener and produces more power that's a good thing to me. There are many more cool videos on youtube.com just type in Ethanol .
  18. Yes but I'm trying to resist buying Z parts while I'm away. Trust me its hard . I would like to go EFI throttle body, even though I've already bought Triple Mikuni's.
  19. Welcome to the website. Glad you like it. Good to see another Zcar addict . PS: There seems to be no known cure to man on this one .
  20. Perhaps we need communism after all? I think there are many alternative fuels we can use. Its just that gasoline has been "perfected" over a very long period of time. Ethanol seems like a very suitable replacement for older vehicles, but I honestly think electric is the way to go for modern motoring. Jay Leno loves the electric car - so it must be good . http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/jay_leno_garage/4215940.html http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/video/video_player.shtml?vid=229378 But remember Electricity can be generated by a number of eco-friendly sources. The ocean waves, the sun, wind farms. At my place back home in OZ, my mum has fitted out the place with solar panels and she says at times she's producing more power than she is using and gets credited for it. So if we charged our electric car under that system, no problems.
  21. Hi everyone, I've been thinking alot lately about alternative fuels and our classic cars. While electric engines are cool, they lack the lovely noise we all love about our Zcars. Eventually when the oil reserves dry up (or hopefully before they do we all convert to Greener energy). I came across this today which seems like the perfect solution to old classics. http://www.bioperformanceuk.com/bioethanol_answers.php What do others think? And what would be required to prepare a L-series engine to take this kind of fuel? It mentions in the article that it would be best suited to EFI turbo set up's. Seems like a good arguement to go turbo on a street driven Z.

    As always, very nice.
  23. C'mon now, getting parts for a Z is easy compared with other classics. You can get most parts from the US its just RHD specific ones like this that are difficult.
  24. Jack I don't know anywhere that has these. They are rare as hen's teeth. Mainly because the US version is different and in Japan they had fender mirrors. The only thing rarer is the very early 240z's that had the different fender mirrors. I have been looking for an original mirror for ages, if you find one or two let me know as I need one also!! . Might have to try some wreckers and have it reconditioned. Or perhaps even try New Zealand?
  25. Found this on Trademe.co.nz. Top notch looking car, I'd say worth every NZ$ you spend. For those looking at a great early Z this might be the car for you. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Other/auction-156335203.htm Your chance to own a true classic Zud Bro!
