  1. I'm not a fan of the massive engine sizes in the new cars. I would prefer something light weight with lots of tuning potential a turbo 2.4 ltr Nissan 240z :-) designed as a homage to the original concept. Even a 4 banger 2.0 ltr like the 200sx would be good. The Gtr is a super car, but there is room in the Nissan range for a cheap fun light weight sports car. Kind of like an Mx5 but with more potential and tuning abilities and superb handling.

Sounds like a great build, please do share some pictures of it. Seems there is quite a following for old Datsun's in the middle east. I had a guy in Kuwait asking if he could buy my Z a couple of years back.
  3. Welcome, so what kind of Z are you looking at getting? Z's are reliable, but they rust like anything. So buy 1 with minimal rust and you'll be good to go.
  4. Just published Warren's Z http://www.viczcar.com/member-rides/warren-gilberts-76-260z-rb25det-conversion
  5. Blows my mind also, a certain Z workshop in Melbourne's owner once took me over to a yellow S30 race car with an L28 in it and claimed it put out around 400HP I didn't believe him at first. This makes it almost plausible, although I'm not sure if his skills were at Peter's level to be honest.
  6. Yeah this is the most exciting thread of the year for me. How does it idle? It doesn't sound like it's too lumpy. I have a naive question, but generally speaking when you rebuild an engine there is a run in period. When you put it on a dyno like this, what is the run in process? Do you have to run it for several hours at different RPM's etc..?
  7. Nice find, those mirrors, rear antenna and toe bar look out of place but the rest is very respectable. Hope you enjoy it, Z's are great weekend warriors and lots of fun.
  8. +1 airbox won't work with these - looks like British SU's of some make, you'll need 240z Hitachi carbs to work with a stock airbox.
  9. Yeah lots of respect for his skill and tenacity. With limited resources its truly amazing. I also like it that he is beating those with big budgets.
  10. That 260z doesn't even look like a 260z anymore. Isn't it 4 wheel drive v8?
  11. Happy birthday champ. Hope the store continues to prosper.
  12. I never quite finished this article. I probably should but this may be helpful for you? http://datsun-240z-blog.viczcar.com/nissan-datsun-s30-buyers-guide.html
  13. So what was wrong with Gordo's head?
  14. What I also find quite amusing about this build is that if you get pulled over by officer plod, it will just look like any other L-series engine in there. Unlike an RB engine which would look a bit fish out of water. What kind of 1/4 mile time do you think this engine would be capable of in a 240z? Given the torque and peak HP? (Ignoring gear ratio's etc..) I'm guessing low 11's.
  15. +1 for video, I want to hear this thing scream. Honestly I'm jealous of this build, wish it was going in my Z. LOL @superflo 902 - Trying to wind up a few yanks?
  16. I was of course taking the piss.

  18. By the way guys I'm all for debate on prices of Z's, but if you take into consideration the cost of restoration of a half decent car - let's say tired paint, interior and engine bay. You would easily spend more than 10K to get it into the condition this appears to be in. So I guess it depends on the buyer, do they want a turn key car or a project? I like the rare lime/yellow tint colour of this car. Not seen many ZX's in that colour around.
  19. Chris - Not a concern mate, I've been looking at placing additional advertising on the site to help cover operating costs and reduce need for donations. Would rather cars like this pop up here first than anywhere else. Of course if you have feedback about advertising on the site I've also got a thread set up for feedback around that. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,10845.msg109275.html#new Note: Poster has also mentioned via email they will make a donation if the cars sells. So all good.
  20. RE: Power steering - you should only fit this if you're a girly man and don't want massive biceps . Honestly I don't see the big deal with power steering in a Z. It's never bothered me and it's only a bit harder parking but if you're a manly man this is no issue.
  21. Looks like a great car, wish my 2+2 was that nice when I had my P-plates. Welcome.
  22. Check out this 260z 2+2
  23. All this nonsense over a slightly different roof line and why didn't you just paint your 2+2 blue....? Seriously, enjoy the 2+2 as it is, for now. Don't be in a rush to get a 2 seater the right time and car will come up. Right now your not earning that much money (just being honest) and I'm sure in a few years you'll have a better paying job and more cash to play with. I remember being on a low wage and wanting to do so many things and just not being able to do it. I understand this sickness, but you should just chill out a bit. Enjoy the fruits of your labor (the 260z) and drive it around whilst keeping it in good running order. Save any additional cash you have so you can buy the right car when it comes up (or go on that overseas travel adventure with your mates) and then buy the car outright (no loans...) and then take your time to sell the 260z 2+2. You'll get the cash back for the 2+2 and stick it in the bank and earn some interest on it. Or blow it all on an unreliable triple carb blow through turbo set up from the 80's Wangan Midnight Comics. Your choice...really..but the 2+2 shape is still attractive and it's still essentially the same car, plus as mentioned they do handle a bit better -> I never spun my 260z 2+2 180 degrees in the wet going onto a freeway on ramp (done that in the 240z though and sh%t myself - it was wet out). Also you still need to save some money for a proper haircut - first things first.
  24. Perfect, seriously the only mod you need to make the 240z look good . Stock hubcaps are an acquired taste to say the least but original none the less . Love the fender mirrors by the way and dare I say it, the pinstripe really sets it all off - helps break up the sea of white.
