  1. Jealous mate wish my paint was that good.
  2. Ughh I deleted my Facebook account....
  3. Welcome, pics and details of what you want to do with it!
  4. Hi Everyone, Looking for advice on potentially repairing a used intake that is cracked / damaged. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270917453885 I'm not sure if it's genuine carbon or fiberglass overlaid with carbon? I've previously repaired a fiberglass front bumper / air dam on a 260z and from memory it was very easy to do. Carbon I know nothing about. This thing has been in the war it looks like but it's actually an expensive intake. See here: http://www.nengun.com/autoexe/ram-air-intake-system Hence the reason I'm looking at repairing it. I'm not looking for a perfect finish but would be nice to touch it up without it looking like a sloppy repair. Don't want to go to the effort of shipping it to discover I can't really repair it. Any advice is appreciated.
  5. I don't understand this, since the P90 head will be the cheapest part in this conversion. ECU and Turbo will cost far more money than a P90 then you have fuel pumps / injectors, fuel rails etc...
  6. Probably true, but if that power figure stated is correct then it's actually not a bad deal if the price is where I think it might be.
  7. I'm eager to watch this space since I've had my fair share of lights on at night, wipers on, indicators on, stereo on and everything moving very very slowly . The 240z wipers unfortunately don't do a great job. 1 Solution is of course not to drive in the rain
  8. If you're a DIY guy I highly recommend: The JUST SU's video http://www.ztherapy.com/ http://www.ztherapy.com/products/videos/just_SU.htm They sent me a copy a while ago and it literally covers everything and is cheap to buy also. You'll know how to get the most from your S.U carbs after watching this.
  9. I have to ask does anyone know how much this kit will cost all in?
  10. ZOMG! TC24-B1Z 420HP in a S30! - Please
  11. Who rebuilt your carbs for you? Got pictures of them? I've heard of people getting "240Z" carbs that were not in fact 240z carbs. Your lack of excitement when hitting the loud pedal could be an ignition issue. What colour are the spark plugs? Take some pics of these items perhaps? But honestly it's hard to tell you what's wrong without a bit more detail. - Do you have an electric fuel pump? - When was the filter changed? - What kind of distributor do you have stock? - What condition is the rotor button, points, distributor cap, leads, plugs in? Engine bay pic would probably be the best.
  12. GRS30015707 G - Stands for 2+2 model R - R signifies a 260z S30 - Means it's an S30 or early Z chassis 015707 - Your cars serial number Should have an L26 in the engine bay, if not your engine may have been swapped for something else.
  13. I would love to do something like this some day, problem is like Mr Sandwich mentioned. Hard to manage. I went to www.thepitlane.ie which is a DIY garage in Dublin a few months back. Unfortunately it seems it closed http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056326403 All that's left now is what the Googlebot cache captured of the website before it stopped working. http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://thepitlane.ie/how-it-works.html I guess I had intended to use it more, but due to being away on Holiday etc.. I only ever really went in once. These seem to have worked well in the UK however so not sure what the difference is between Ireland / UK. I don't see why it couldn't work in Australia but you need to find a bunch of enthusiasts who will use it regularly I'd say and that way they will see the value in it. God knows I'd love a car lift. Hate breaking my back working on cars.
  14. But... do you really want the hassle of 2 cars, 2 lots of rego? I don't think putting an RB20 into a 260z is going to butcher it. It depends on how you do the install really, create a good loom, get your mounts fabricated (as far as I understand the dimensions are not that different, gearbox hole should line up no?) Original is good, but RB20 should be a relatively straight forward swap and you can always convert back later if you really want to.
  15. PS: @Ash - I hope I didn't make your ears bleed when I took off at the lights lol... I got some video of your Z also but it's not the best trying to film while driving .
  16. Here are some very rough photos I took on my mobile phone at the BBQ https://plus.google.com/photos/107400787026175995661/albums/5712905456796426305 I should have taken them earlier when there was more light in the day but got caught up talking to people . It was really good to meet everyone, especially those who I haven't met in person before.
  17. So it's a joke? I thought it looked too good to be true myself. Nissan Compe wheel alone would be worth a lot of money. Not to mention those Simmons etc..
  18. Okay I might come down a bit earlier too. I think Sulio originally mentioned that time but it was probably more of a guideline than anything else .
  19. Not a problem pete would be good to get a +2 up there also. This will be good several cars in a row I've let it slide a bit this year but want to make time for it this year again. It helps grow the community and attracts new eye balls to the site. Will be in contact soon.
  20. Sure I think I got your email with details so I'll get onto it shortly. Just put Scott's up and have another feature ride in the works so we can do yours after that. Feature cars don't have to be perfect, the idea is that they inspire others to get on with their projects .
  21. Hi Everyone, A bit of a mix up with this so apologies for the late notice but since a few members will be coming back from Tassie today and wish to attend we are moving the BBQ to tomorrow the 23/02/2012 (Thursday) and the start time is 8:30pm. I'll update the first post in this thread. Again sorry about the late notice, hopefully everyone who was going to attend is watching this thread.
  22. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-240z-Sports-1973-2D-Coupe-5-SP-Manual-2-4L-Twin-Carb-/120862074613?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item1c23f0e6f5#ht_500wt_1361 Nice looking 240z starting at 10k
  23. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/12-4010 Looks like you might still need a non-points distributor (i.e 280zx type one). It's also worth reading this page I think.... http://www.zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/ignition.html Especially the MSD set up. I don't know the difference between the MSD unit and the HI6 I'd say they are fairly similar? Definitely sounds like something my own Z could use as it feels a bit flat in certain parts of the RPM range (This could have something to do with the removal of vacuum advance system - It's using only mechanical advance).
  24. My 200 cents is..... Don't worry about it being perfect if you are on a budget just get her in good mechanical order and enjoy driving it. Honestly there is nothing less motivational than having a car off the road for a long time. Mine is not perfect body wise but I get it out and enjoy it. You can always touch things up as you go. Besides I kind of like the rat rod look it allows for more creativity I feel. I would also say don't be afraid to do it yourself and more importantly don't be scared to fudge it up either. Only way to learn really. If in 3 or 4 or 8 years time (me) you still love it and still want to do a strip down go for it then. At least you will have scratched the paint put a dent in it and replaced most mechanical bits allowing you to do a good make over and keep that pristine body.
  25. Even the Japanese would go nuts I think... I know they have built some mean L-series but this is the first I've heard of with this kind of displacement. Looking forward to it Pete.
