  1. Well I've been doing some odd jobs around the car since I've been back. Nothing major but a quick visit to Ash in Moorabbin Auto Spares and I picked up some spare parts and did a few jobs. - New spark plugs - New distributor cap - New fuel lines - old ones were getting hard and had some signs of cracks etc.. with new jubilee clips. - New fuel - very important - New fuel filter - Recently had a new rotor button - Recently new leads I also spent some time degreasing and steam cleaning the engine bay. It's come up alright I think. I also found some bits and pieces in storage like the MSA "Z" oil cap which I put on tonight for a bit of bling. I also found some "240z" stickers that go down the side. I figured I'd put them on and see if I like them. They can always be removed. Only cost $20 USD a couple of years back. Some pics can be found here: https://picasaweb.google.com/107400787026175995661/240z2012?authuser=0&feat=directlink I started to clean up some old tail lights but they are gonna need some work alright. I must say I definitely enjoy working on the 240z more than the RX-7, this could be because I have a garage but also i think it's just more of a pleasure to work on something so simple in terms of layout and parts etc.. Going to flush the old oil and coolant soon, there is also a leak from the gearbox. Probably the rear seal in it has gone to shyza. Not sure if I'll go crazy and pull the driveshaft to replace it or not though. I also have some bullet mirrors my g/f bought many eon's ago for me. I want to install them but there is rust bubbles and holes hiding under the old mirror location. I'm thinking I'll just install them anyway as I'm sick of the 200B style mirrors but haven't fully decided yet. Bullet mirrors do kick arse though.
  2. Loving the weather mate to be honest. Compared to Dublin I honestly can't complain at all.
  3. Question - Are you not going to paint the inside? Seems like it wouldn't take much more to refresh it? Given you are at it now?
  4. That's incredible for a bit of plastic.
  5. Well I've got the car running and took it out yesterday. Needs some minor things done.
  6. I'm trying to get the 240z sorted and on the road. Going to give Vicroads a call now and see what happens.
  7. Fair enough then, I also think that in Ireland / UK labour is cheap right now given the economic climate. So beggars can't be choosers so to speak. End of off topic
  8. I think this is your problem, in order to turn a profit from your job they want to charge you accordingly. I don't know what labour costs in Australia right now, but it does seem expensive. When I watch a UK based TV show called Wheeler Dealers that kind of work usually costs about 1000 pounds. But then again I guess it's usually not resto work to the same extent. I would look for someone who is a specialist for restoration work personally and perhaps someone others in the club can recommend. I don't know what your like, but I'd be very fussy myself and would notice even small details. So if your like that in anyway I'd pay a bit extra for that.

  12. I'm busy 17th - 18th of Feb with family BBQ's so either the 12th / 13th or 22nd / 23rd would be ok. I don't have the same mobile number anymore. So I'll PM Sulio my home phone number - until I get my Aussie sim card.
  13. This is where the inspiration for Movember came from.

  16. @Nzeder - any joy test fitting those wheels? Really curious what they look like.
  17. Actually that's the best way to prevent idiots opening their door into your shiny ride. Occupy 2 spaces!
  18. ZOMG! 20B Powered S30
  19. An old topic but I was looking at this again and came across a similar article: http://zclub.net/forum/general-discussion/8817-vented-240z-260z-inspection-flaps.html I like the idea of putting them in the flaps since they can easily be reversed if needed.
  20. +1 for Zed, probably gets more attention too!
  21. Love the sound of the lumpy camshaft profile . What a beast.
  22. I paid $400 for a 'good straight' 240z bonnet. The bonnets are the same the only difference is the later 260z's had fluted hoods. If this is not a big issue then it doesn't matter, but I personally prefer the look of the non-fluted hood. The flutes are more practical, but I just don't like the late 70's plastic style of them personally. Much prefer a more 60's looking type flute. like this: http://www.wallpapersofcars.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/58619_JAGUAR_XK8_CONVERTIBLE_4618785947_01fdf62abd.jpg Or this: http://wwwdelivery.superstock.com/WI/223/4093/PreviewComp/SuperStock_4093-24610.jpg Or you can place the vents in the inspection lids
  23. Perhaps a view of what future classic car ownership will be like? http://www.crazycarproject.jp/ Personally, I think it's great. We get to keep the experience of the classics but bring them into the 21st Century. Maybe some day it will be the only way to own an S30?
