  1. First question are you running SU's?
  2. Thankfully when I flushed my radiator I didn't see rust deposits or other junk so I think my cooling system is in pretty good condition. Obviously if a Z has been sitting a long time and not had proper coolant used your results and methodology would be different.
  3. C110 Barn find Japanese style Japanese car show 2011 Rocky Auto C110 (interior is a let down)
  4. Kobe Seiko Wheel. http://www.buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/r114471266 Same as that found on PS30's. That is price for 1 - would be nice if a company like rota reproduced them. Cool HS30-H model car. http://www.buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/e142811550 OEM S30Z tail lights. (not cheap!) http://www.buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/d151490732 Cheap S30z chrome headlight trims. http://www.buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/d154465279 I see these often, but no idea if the perspex glass can easily be replaced / replicated?
  5. Disco red was available in some US delivered cars, the JDM cars were the Type X (Luxury version w/cruise control sunroof etc..), Bathurst R models (limited numbers) and then later on in the Spirit R Type B (4 seat version no Recaro's). Basically the red seats are quite rare to find, and when they do come up usually the bolsters show quite a bit of wear being that they are made of leather. You can buy re-trim kits but they are an additional cost obviously. An interesting difference between the UK and AU market seat vs JDM ones is that the the UK/AUDM cars didn't have the cut out in the heat rest to run a harness. Not really sure why either. Mainly because of my job I'm stuck in N.S.W at the minute. If I lived in Brisbane I'd have probably tried to buy a house already. But with the current property bubble in Sydney and Melbourne I'm not willing to dive in. I've already explained to SWMBO why the Recaro's were better, hasn't been convinced yet. I actually kept them because I was going to put them in my Z but now I've changed my mind and want to go with something more 'period' looking like Mossy did.
  6. These are now sold and paid for.
  7. Yeah eBay should ban Comic Sans 280zxt (2 seater) in NZ. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/nissan/auction-731856959.htm Early 240z set up for V8 (Note there is a Rally Clock 2 knob in that pile o' parts). http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/other/auction-730824918.htm
  8. To continue with my Safari Gold obsession here is a Fairlady Z-L in the same hue with triple Mikuni's and the red rocker cover . Why does nobody run air filters when they have Triples, it can't be good for the motor?
  9. I got mine off RetroZ who has been chopping up 2 seaters lately. Not sure if he has any left? But getting quite scarce to find. I may or may not use mine depending on if I think I can plug my sunroof gap without causing too much distortion but if the rest of your roof is ok (as in not rusty) you might want to think about just creating a patch for yours? It would certainly present a challenge for those not used to welding thin sheet metal
  10. Yeah here is my 73 240z, as I say most original car I've owned so far. Although I'm trying to change that . http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?topic=14206.0 You can see no side repeaters but the amber indicators below the bumper. On the Safari Car the loom was hooked up so the turn signals worked in the guards, it seems to be spliced into the lower turn light in the valance, so it seems just a change of plug to make it work. No cutting or chopping of loom. I imagine someone wanted the turn signals back in the day thinking it was cool . No different than me changing the rear lights on my FD RX-7 from the earlier square ones to the later circular units really. So I can't really judge Mr 1980s owner for that . In about 20 years time everyone will be getting excited over the early style RX-7 rear lights LOL... Some poor sap like George or I will pay a Premium to get a pair too! Sorry for including you also George haha. The early North 'Merican' cars as you know had the turn signals in the front and rear quarters (ewww! to the rear 1/4 in particular), but the amber rear turn signals is not correct for that market car. Oh and the filler rod stuff is definitely not copper it's a brown colour, but having a brain aneurism trying to remember it's name, it's a long weird word haha.
  11. In that panel no, but I'm sure I have plenty of nasties to go . Firewall, rear wheel arches, rockers, rear hatch, slam panel, floors... you get the drift lol..but it is starting to feel less daunting when I look at what needs to be done. Each small victory is a step closer to seeing this car on the road again. Not sure what the rule change was or if that's the reason? But if you look at 73 240z's they had the additional indicators on the front bumper. So possibly by 74 they had to have side markers? Someone changed the fenders to 260z type ones before the car was given a repaint (in the original Safari Gold), I suspect someone wanted to create a 260z mock up using their 240z in the 80s. I noticed the guards had 260z style fender badges and this was left on after the repaint. Who knows maybe someone also put 260z rear lights in it at some point? Anyway she's going back to how she should be now . Yes Oxy welding thin metal in that area ain't too much fun.
  12. Feels like I've been working on this panel forever, I guess I have . Anyway today's progress. You may have seen in another thread I was giving away some side indicators. and some rust damage that caused a crack in the metal. Well I made up a patch - since 240z's that were AU delivered had no turn signals in the guards. So I'm smoothing these off. But the metal around this area was very thin and kept blowing holes, so the tafe teacher took over and worked his magic (can't claim I did this bit). But there is the other side to go also, so I took note of how it was done . Anyway here is some shots to show how the panel is looking. A bit more fettling to do with the lower section and another minor rust hole running along the bonnet area of the guard and that will be it for this panel. I think I'd like to work on the drivers door next, since the door skin is shagged proper, and I am thinking I'll buy a rare spares skin - hopefully the door shell itself is good. and here is random photo of the early style badges. I don't know why I like them as much as I do, but I just think it's 1 of the cool things about the early ones.
  13. Magnet sent me a PM earlier, if it doesn't work out I'll let you know RetroZ.
  14. Jay Leno's Turbine car. Very cool.

  16. Hi Guys, In a similar vein to project binky http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?topic=14067.0 which I know some of you enjoy I thought I'd share Aaron Cake's RX-5 build series. Some of it pertains to those funny Wankel motors (which is how I came across it), but it covers wiring up a megasquirt ECU, metal fabrication, vintage air-con installation etc.. I've learnt a lot just from watching this man's videos and I'm envious of the tools he has access to. I figure it would be useful for other DIY types, best way to learn is to watch others in my opinion. Oh and sorry for another time suck to add to your collection.
  17. Haha - a PO Box in the US you say... new best friend indeed.
  18. Just to clarify as I had a question about this, but these rails are from an FD RX-7 the seats have never been in an S30Z so you'll need to find a way to adapt them to suit a Z.
  19. If you decide to order in some patch panels / sections, maybe we can get a group buy going to save on shipping? Although I don't see myself ordering for another month or 2 yet.
  20. Hi Guys, I'm a bit on a the fence about selling these, but since there was discussion about it recently I thought I'd see if there is any interest. These photo were taken last night. They are currently sitting in my garage and whilst I don't really need to sell them, the extra space could be handy. I think they generally go for around $400, I would rather not sell them for less because if I decide to sell the FD I'd probably remove the Recaro's I have in there and sell the car with the stock seats. Which would mean finding a pair again in good condition. Hence I was holding onto these.. Photos before I removed them are here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,14331.msg151822.html#msg151822 The only wear is on the drivers side bolster (right hand side) from getting in and out of the car, but it's only minor wear no rips / tears etc..as you would expect from a car around 17 years old now. They could use a vacuum as the garage dust has settled on them but other than that they are good condition (same as when I removed them) and would come with the rails etc.. Seats are located in Sydney, would rather pickup as oppose to posting them.
  21. Hi Guys, I got these at the start of the year, but found another pair in what appears to be near mint condition on eBay - although I still haven't received them so may regret selling these haha. I have decided to offer these up as surplus to my needs. They are an original pair so made of steel as opposed to the later reproduction plastic items you get. The chrome is lifting in places, they will need repainting / restoration etc.. and there is some minor pitting (rust) on the circular base (that's the disadvantage of metal for you!). I'm not sure how to fix this yet, perhaps lead fill? Or some other method - was going to tackle it when the time came...hard to photograph this part so trying my best to describe so no nasty surprises. I believe the metal pins are intact on both badges though - which is rare. Price: I'm asking what I paid which was around $35 AUD. Or Will swap for other emblems / badges. Any condition considered... I need the following badges (ideally in metal if possible - since that's what is correct for 1970 year cars). 1. Rear hatch Datsun 240z 2. 1 Lower front fender 'DATSUN' badge 3. Bonnet 'Datsun' badge.

  23. Thanks matey, looks like a P90 came up, so trying to see if I can get that.
  24. I keep watching this 1. Love the colour of this car and sound.
  25. Agreed. If there is a serious crash your car will be inspected for faults by a forensic specialist. Therefore makes sense to play by the rules. Dimitri is running velo seats in his Z. Made in AU so will be ADR approved I'd say. Worth looking into and not bad looking seats.
