  1. Mate you need to give an indication of a price you're looking for. It is best for everyone involved. Otherwise you'll get kids asking to buy them for $500 and a swap for a KE70 Corolla.
  2. Reviving an old topic here but I've found that there is several different designs of this panel and it would be good to confirm which applies to what years for AU market cars.. The below is based on assumption so if anyone can confirm - perhaps with photos from their own vehicles it would be appreciated. I took some reference photos from here: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/open-s30-z-discussions/34314-1970-series-i-240z-unique-parts.html Early Grey Plastic Heater Console. - It's my understanding that this applies to cars manufactured in late 1969. I don't think any Australian delivered vehicles had this grey panel, but I've not seen enough photos of HS30-0004 to be 100% certain. Photo of the interior of HS30 0004 can be seen here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?topic=13650.0 Note: close up photos shows AIR/TEMP/DEF - moulded into the actual unit itself. The following images are from HS30 00150 (1970 Model 240z AU Delivered) - now it's possible this was changed at some point in it's life but I would be surprised. Note: Non hooded map light bezel / panel. Here is 1 I won on Yahoo! Auctions out of a 72 HS30-H apparently... I believe all our cars (240z's sent to Australia) received this heater panel. 1973 model 240z's. The following photos are from US eBay and I actually don't think AU market cars received this heater facia panel. These were apparently backlit (for the first time). I do think AU market cars had a backlit center heater panel, but I don't think the design on the control section was this flat panel. I'm happy to be corrected on any of the above.... and just to depress everyone, these are the prices listed for OEM stock of these panels. http://shop.jdm-car-parts.com/index.php?main_page=products_all&disp_order=7&page=3 Thankfully it seems that reproduction panels now exist.
  3. Plastic print that instead of metal . As to how rusty your car is? Well.. I suspect many Zeds are like that, it's just the owners haven't stripped them all the way down to find out. These cars rust from the inside out, which is why I might be unpicking my roof just to see if there is anything that needs to be taken care of.. but I'll be asking the experts about that when the time comes.
  4. I've actually wondered what Venetian blinds would look like in the back window of a Z but I think it works on the older sedans more than sports cars.
  5. Well the guy I contacted said he doesn't do them as it doesn't bring in enough bacon...my words not his.. I will do more research once mine arrives I can scan it and measure the size up etc..
  6. I walked into that 1 huh? Well I ordered this gear knob just now. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390845237407 I was also really tempted by this 1. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-Nissan-Nos-Gear-Knob-240Z-1600-Sss-1200-1000-120Y-Sunny-Jdm-Gx-/191021606011 I fired off an email here: http://www.classiccapsule.com/self-adhesive-resin-domed-wheel-centre-badge-set---any-size-up-to-60mm-diameter-for-any-classic-car-155-p.asp to see if they can replicate the 5 speed button. I might get a bunch made up if there is interest?
  7. FYI: I came across these photos today. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=803445&mid=99011&i=21&nmt=RE I think they are lotus seats. Look good in the S30z.
  8. Never seen it and I hope I never do LOL - sorry not my thing.
  9. Cool article. Like I said a 240z for 20k now will seem a bargain in another 5 years. I really want to get a Toyota Land cruiser FJ40 but the g/f is saying no lol... We have my sisters Suzuki Jimny which is cool but only borrowing it. I would like an FJ40 to haul zeds parts around in and go camping with the dog in the back. I'll convince her, they make awesome rat rods.
  10. http://www.buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/k178119825 OK I like the OEM knob but not sure I like it for the price it is going to fetch. I think we should find a key ring maker and get the buttons re-made for the 5 speed.
  11. Lol it didn't look too healthy in that shag pile carpet covering so I was surprised it came up so nice. But that makes a lot more sense. Did you use Dashboard Doctor in Melbourne?
  12. Is that the dashboard that was in the car re-skinned? Looks nice.
  13. If you get a chance to photograph exactly what modifications are required let me know? I think I know what you're talking about but it would be good to see exactly what 'massaging' is required to make them fit right. I'm going to get the door skin off first (I suspect that will take some time), see if my Tafe course instructor thinks we can replicate it, if it's too much hassle I'll order 1 from Rare Spares.
  14. Sounds good, would be nice to see a photo of the gap. I'm pretty sure others have told me the same before about the rare spares door skins.
  15. Hi mate, I was at a Nissan / Datsun show last year in Sydney and there was a guy there who dealt with reproduction panels for classic cars. I asked about Zeds and he mentioned they do the front guards only for an S30. I kept the flyer but I can't for the life of me remember the business name. I'll try and look it up later tonight. *Edit - a quick Google's and I found it. http://www.allmusclecarparts.com.au/webshop/index.php/datsun/240-260z.html Happy days!
  16. Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone is selling a 240z/260z drivers door skin they may have purchased from rare spares or similar and never fitted or used? My drivers door skin is probably beyond saving...I've seen rare spares Adelaide on eBay is selling them, but thought I'd try my luck here and see if anyone has 1 that's sitting around etc.. I won't know if I need the door shell till I whip the old skin off and check the door shell out for rust etc... If anyone has feedback on the panel gaps and how they line up compared with OEM I'd be interested in any potential issues etc..? Cheers,
  17. Hey Lurcho's I'm interested in the N42 if she's in good condition? As in better than the 1 I have at the moment? I haven't had much luck finding a P90 head so I think I'll just go N42.
  18. Automotive Artist: Shin Yoshikawa - Jay Leno's Ga…: Cool...
  19. LOL - yes, well you've seen how to restore the console now . The throttle and choke knob can be sourced relatively easily thanks to reproductions. The ash-tray is harder to find at a reasonable price. However as I say they are minor things, the wheels and side mirrors do the car no justice in my opinion and if the paint is really good and body very solid and matching numbers engine to chassis coupled with an early number I'd say it would certainly be worth looking at more closely. It may have the original 71A? gearbox based on the shifter itself and it has the bonus original gear knob. The dash has definitely been out as the gauges are in the incorrect order. Clock is in the middle - it should be on the left. I just hope it wasn't a short cut rebuild.
  20. Hey David, Is that a slide hammer you're using to remove the oil gallery plug? I'm still not clear on why we thread and tap the oil gallery plug? Could you not just install another plug like you do with the coolant galleries? Or is there some other benefit?
  21. 1970 Datsun 240z http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/kewdale/cars-vans-utes/1970-datsun-240z-coupe-rego-dat240z-nissan-green/1047398375 I would love to know what number she is, looks early. Asking top dollar $30k - photos make it hard to judge but if it's rust free and only needs minor items then perhaps not a bad deal, as a few years from now I'm tipping it will look like a bargain. Just saying...
  22. There is a reproduction guard on eBay at the minute. No idea how it fits but listed at $500. Which seems reasonable considering the amount of work I've put into 1 of mine. When you say yours are too much work how bad are they? I wouldn't mind some practice panels .
  23. Hi Guys, In reference to this thread: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,13234.15.html I found some early fender mirrors advertised on eBay and Yahoo! Auctions. First of all these look close to our market fender mirrors, but the base looks different to what Lynton posted. http://www.buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/l250421447 These have the same base. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DATSUN-1200-SUNNY-Early-Outside-Fender-Mirrors-510-B10-110-E10-NISSAN-Genuine-/370942815523 But then I saw this and felt sad. Someone won them for $50 http://www.ebay.com/itm/DATSUN-180B-610-BLUEBIRD-JDM-DX-GL-GX-FENDER-MIRROR-1600-510-1200-1000-/390476387938 It says they are 610 Bluebird Mirrors. There is another set on there now. But the base looks different...not sure if it's just missing the outer plastic tube though? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DATSUN-1600-BLUEBIRD-510-JDM-NEW-OLD-STOCK-FENDER-MIRRORS-/161311913599
  24. I can get the real deal cheaper than that! Don't bother...it's not even a 'true' replica anyway. and because I'm a nice guy here is the part no.. By the way if we could replicate that button, it would be easy to obtain these, just buy all the 4 speed yokes on US eBay slap a 5 speed shift pattern button on it and bob's your teapot. Perfect example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Used-Datsun-240Z-shift-knob-original-wood-/321409765837 Going for $10 with no shift button on it. You could get a new one with 4 speed on it cheap. (But I'm sure it will annoy you it's missing the -5 in it). http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Datsun-Wood-Shift-Knob-510-1200-240Z-Nissan-OEM-NEW-/310960085841 Kind of tempted to just slap this on haha. http://www.ebay.com/itm/shift-knob-5speed-Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-410-510-620-240K-280k-B10-B110-120Y-/150945328013
  25. I didn't recover them, but they are the correct trim for my year 1995 FD RX-7 (They are nicknamed the 'carbon look or effect' seats). So that's another reason I'm reluctant to offload them. Finding a set of series 6 JDM seats in that pattern would be hard - although not impossible. The later series 8 (last of the FDs) also had a nice trim look. Here is the AU / UK market version These are good for 2+2's because you can tilt them forward for rear seat access. To be honest the only reason I'm listing them is because I don't want them to get soiled sitting in my garage, in which case I'll probably just have to find some garbage bags to wrap them up in and stop them getting dusty / dirty.
