  1. Looks like the same style of wheel? I think that's Ben from Otomoto's old car with 1JZ.
  2. Nice... Think I've seen it driving down Newtown a few months back. The real deal made a hell of a racket. Some awesome videos of the original on YouTube with V8s trying to chase it down without success.
  3. LOL touche... This arrived today! I'll be reconditioning the wood and I'll have to try that chrome spray stuff at some stage to fix the flaking at the bottom. At some stage a bunch of parts will need to be done (like this). Spaz Stix seems to be the winner for rattle can jobs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-1cTpSZ1l8 Or there is this product. http://www.chromesolutions.de/ PS: If you want a gear knob like this, there is 1 on eBay right now....(same seller as I bought it from) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DATSUN-1600-510-BLUEBIRD-SSS-JDM-SSS-GEAR-SHIFT-KNOB/161328064015 Looks like Chrome is in better shape also!
  4. haha, where was that posted mate? 240z shell - rust free and no pictures
  5. S30Z with RB26 and R32 dashboard.
  6. Thanks mate.
  7. Pretty sad to see that George.
  8. Thanks I missed it first time. Must be old age. Just turned 32 lol...
  9. If Shaun doesn't want them I'm interested. Is it the trim around the 1/4 window itself? The triangular pieces?
  10. For retro, Mazda R100, RX-2, RX-3 or RX-4 coupe. I'd also consider the first or second generation RX-7 - maybe a Turbo II (Series 5) RX-7. I have to say I do like the early 911s style wise but I've never seen myself being a Porsche driver if I'm honest. I feel like it's more fun to poke fun at them . I love the old RS Camaro (67,68) era, or 68 Mustang Fastback. But I absolutely adore the 63' C2 Corvette Split Window. But they are uber expensive now so not something I'd be driving I'm afraid. I'd say if it wasn't a Z it would be a rotary coupe for sure. Or keeping it Nissan I'd love a 240K coupe (as a GTR clone). For modern... FD RX-7 for me is the only way to go if you're looking for a car that is comparable to the early 240z. The styling hasn't aged, it's a 2 seater coupe, I just love the wide stance from the rear of the car, the dashboard feels like a cockpit (Just like the 240z) and the rotary is a super cool motor. Mine has the air-con, power steering, stock exhaust so its quiet and it's about the only other car I've driven where I look in shop windows to see how cool the coupe looks (I do the same in the 240z). I've never driven a GTR, would love to some day, I think the S15 Silvia is also nice looking, but too many boy racers in them these days.
  11. I'll have to attend next year I think. Good to see more and more 'original' Japanese cars. Also happy to see more and more going with the original colours too!
  12. Depends on the professional, unfortunately I don't know of anyone in WA that works out of their own place like Lurch or Scoota do on the East Coast, but I'm sure you could find someone over that way if you ask around. It really depends on the time involved, you have to remove the front windscreen, rear hatch, gutter rails to get to the spot welds, then undo the spot welds. To be honest I'd estimate between $1000 - $1500 without paint work, but maybe I'm off the mark? How rusty is the rest of the car?
  13. Hi guys, Can someone PM me Warren's contact details please?
  14. I don't know my personal preference is to avoid replica / clone made stuff. Like Bride Seats - I couldn't tell what is genuine vs fake so I didn't buy them. I went with Recaro's instead because I just don't trust my life to something like fake Brides. With wheel I feel the same, it's not about brand snobbery - rather you pay for the name because you expect a certain quality. I bought an Epiphone Guitar I thought was genuine for like 400 euro and it turned out it was a fake, probably made in the same factory but the quality of wood used (it was glued chipboard) was non-existent the action couldn't be fixed and it buzzed like 5 year old kids on Red Bull. So even though it probably came from the same Chinese factory the quality was obviously not the same as the genuine article. You can save your money on many things but an item as critical as wheels, well I wouldn't. Just my 2cents....
  15. Definitely I was going to fill mine in and re-drill them, but now there is no need it would seem . So happy days. I have some 'DATSUN' badges coming but they are taking their time to arrive so I couldn't check myself. On another note does anyone know if door handles between different Datsun's are identical? I found these reproduction door handles for $15 and supposedly they suit a Datun 1200. http://www.allmusclecarparts.com.au/webshop/index.php/datsun/1200-ute-sedan/datsun-1200-outer-door-handle.html I don't know how you could make such a part so cheap, but I don't know if it will fit a Z?
  16. Quick question for those following along. Are the badge holes in the front guards the same position on 260z's and 240z's? Example of badge I'm talking about. I need to know so I can determine if I'm going to plug these holes up with my welder or leave them.
  17. Pretty common, you would probably be best to unpick the roof skin and treat rust in the area then fix this section before welding the roof back on. At least that's how I'd approach it, I'm not there yet with mine though so it's purely speculation..
  18. Anymore photos of that Safari Gold 240z?
  19. FYI: I ended up buying this book and 2 others below thru Amazon for under $100 delivered so I'll try and give my feedback when finished with them. How to Restore Classic Car Bodywork (Enthusiast's Restoration Manual) by Thaddeus, Martin Automotive Bodywork & Rust Repair by Matt Joseph How to Paint Your Car on a Budget (Cartech)
  20. A real PZR aka PS30-SB 432-R or do you mean PS30? I believe there is less than half of the original 25-30 432Rs left ~13 but that is just speculation. Point is I'd be very surprised if it was a 432-R. I look forward to seeing an S20 motor in person someday though.
  21. Hi guys, I haven't seen this before so I wanted to share this with you. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/45444-genuine-ps30-sb-fairlady-z432-r-refresh-story-in-gallery/ http://www.classiczcars.com/profile/8135-take432r/ Lot of photos of some interesting features on the Z432-R, photos I've never seen before. Also shows an S30 shell disassembled which I think is good for reference photos of what you may need to do when restoring your own Z. I know that I find them helpful for know where all the spot welds exist, for example the windscreen / cowl area etc.. Hope you enjoy seeing this stuff as much as I. Without a doubt the PZR is the most rare and valuable of all S30Z variants out there.
  22. Are you sure the wheels are Dunlop? They usually make tyres not alloy wheels. Can you post some photos? You may need to remove the wheels to determine brand as they may have stampings in the cast on the back of the wheel?
  23. Just make sure SHMBO is in the passenger seat
  24. A fair point. I don't always post what I find interesting haha. Especially if I've already collected that part. Just the other day I missed out on a Fairlady Grille...so it doesn't always work out for me
  25. Is this the style of wheel you're looking for? http://www.buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/k174951273
