  1. Yeah 5 years is a long time, some of the AU specific parts are tough to find. Although I'm sure if I called the 'right' people I could have got it sooner. Another item I've been chasing a while is a vinyl kit (diamond pattern) I got 1 on Yahoo! Auctions Japan that came with a spare headliner also, the vinyl kit will be going on the other Z (Evie the 72 Z) but the headliner will be for this car. I also got a 2 seater roof to replace the sunroof, although I'm not sure if I'll patch the existing roof or use the replacement skin yet, better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it right? So no engine updates yet, and I have been a little lazy now that I missed out this semester on the Tafe Course, really want to go back to it, but I might have to borrow a welder and practice on my own for a while until then? So feeling a little demotivated I forced myself to finish off the center console restoration. Before During After Comparison... Finished..well nearly.. I'll do a full write up to complete the center console restoration thread soonish... Some notes, the ash-tray doesn't sit flat because the pins I believe can be unscrewed on the hinge and this will allow me to install it again without breaking the plastic tabs (like nearly all of them have suffered). I haven't glued down the center console finisher or fastened the coin holder piece to the console (that will come when I put it back in the car. The photos make the black contrast against the rest of the console a lot more than it does in reality. I actually don't mind them being slightly different. Finally the flasher and parker inscription should be white, I haven't painted these yet. I'm waiting for the vinyl paint to fully cure then I'll go over it in white and with a wet rag clean up the excess paint. That's the theory - we'll see if it actually works though! A small win for tonight - I should really get onto restoring the steering wheel. I bought the materials ages ago. Just been lazy. I'm trying to keep up the motivation. I now have a left over center console finisher trim piece, ashtray lid and ashtray that are all broken or damaged in some way. I used all the good bits to make 1 decent piece. I'm happy with the ashtray in particular as these seems to be expensive on eBay and not available anymore.
  2. 260z 2 seater door trim. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/datsun-240z-260z-door-trim-/191160617081
  3. Z looks really clean mate, non fluted bonnet FTW!
  4. I'm not an expert on the subject. Does it have to be a L-series gearbox for your purpose? Would you not consider an SR20 / RB20 box - not sure what ratio's are available for those though?
  5. I hope they were insured? Although I know the car parts won't be covered and the time effort etc.. That red 1600 looked mint.
  6. 73 240z, asking 21k. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/baulkham-hills/cars-vans-utes/1973-datsun-240z-coupe/1045759505 Looks good.

  8. Thanks Mr C. enjoyed those videos, I do like the fact that he bought it with his heart. Now to become a rock star
  9. Are they chrome trim covers or aftermarket? Would love to see the chrome jobbies fitted. Pics a must.
  10. Or a heat gun with a scraper will take it off easy enough. LOL @ the pic posted by Enzo.
  11. Good to hear it's moving along mate. If you decide the P90 isn't your thing let me know? I've still got the engine hoist be sure to yell if you need it back soon? It looks like I may not be doing the TAFE course due to enrolling too late and missing my place eeek, so might be best to focus on my engine for now and come back to bodywork next semester.
  12. Or get a Google Chromecast and play it on your home TV and entertainment system .
  13. For those who like a bit of Chook Cooker action. Shannon's looks at the RX-3 rotary's. I think George would appreciate the originality of the early RX3 coupe and the owners desire to make it as original spec as possible with braided hoses etc..

  16. Cheap rear light unit for 240z with hardware. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240Z-1970-license-plate-light-assembly-/151292664055
  17. I couldn't agree more. The S30Z is such a special car, for me the 240z's are just a bit more special than the later ones - mainly because they are closer to the late 60s style. But it's just personal preference for me. I'm pretty sure the S30Z had a lot of design influence from all over the place. I'm sure Alan (HS30-H) would be able to shed some light as to what cars were the biggest influence. You know I couldn't help but think that the GTO sounds a lot like a properly worked L-series at full song. I still remember being on a tram on the way home many years ago in Melbourne and hearing this noise that I thought must be a Ferrari going past the tram, when I looked out ahead I saw an S30Z . The only problem now of course is that I want those damn headlight covers you're selling for my red Z. Grrrr. I just love the old Ferrari's from that era, the new stuff doesn't do much for me. Too many pretentious 'knobs' drive them these days. But the old ones are just magical the interior designs the long bonnets - everything just makes sense.
  18. Grafton is pretty far from Sydney, but if it helps to send the items to my place in Sydney let me know?
  19. Hi mate, I suspect you are correct and that many members feel this way.. Bidjdm.com Buyee.jp importmonster.com.au or even Jesse Streeter all provide middle man services where they buy the item on your behalf and have it shipped to their place of business (you may have to pay upfront). You then pay a nominal* fee for them to ship it to you insured etc.. *depends on the item really - but it could be a higher fee. I've not actually used any of these services myself, but I know of at least 1 member who used buyee.jp with success to purchase a rally clock for their Z. Quite a few members have used Jesse Streeter as a go-between also. I was also thinking of buying some parts and bringing them in for onward sale - but I'd have to add a fee myself for time shipping etc...so not sure about that yet. Hope that helps though?
  20. Just in case you want another light. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/240K-Skyline-C110-left-hand-tail-light-Datsun-Nissan-Can-ship-anywhere-/281322324372
  21. Has anyone had experience with Aqua, Water or Vapor blasting for engine parts? Some more examples. http://www.wetblasting.net/ http://forum.ozvmx.com/index.php?topic=13729.0 Would you recommend it for engine parts or is there better alternatives? Also anyone know of a good place in Sydney that does this kind of stuff?
  22. Yes - provided nothing is frozen stuck. So first check you can undo the filler cap. If so you can drain the old fluid and pump in the new stuff. This video is pretty accurate in terms of what you need to do. Except it doesn't include draining the oil - just checking it's level.
  23. Yeah I can't imagine - all those electrical components. It would drive me mad!
  24. Nato I am going to need new rails (at least from firewall back and may also need a radiator support section (mine has had a minor tap up front, but not sure how bad it is yet till I get the left hand fender off). So put me down as interested. Happy to supply pics of a 1970 240z for reference if needed. I may also want this section for the 72 (in future).
