  1. Not sure how I missed this thread, but great to see a S30z getting some lap time. I wonder what pistons those are? Also what cylinder head is "the guru" developing for you?
  2. I think the purple may look like this. Source: http://zclub.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4682 I had always assumed these were repainted cars and not OEM factory original colours. Must be quite rare indeed... Funny thing about that second photo is that I recall seeing that picture around 97/98 when I first started looking at S30z's on the Internet... Back before Google was the search engine you'd use to find information.... Ahh nostalgia.
  3. On S30z's the paint code is often referring to as a number, it also has a name usually. For example 918 is Kalahari Tan, 920 is Safari Gold, 905 Monte Carlo Red etc.. But not all paint codes have such exotic names. #362 Seems to be a purple hue but I can't for the life of me recall what it looks like now.
  4. Good work mate, I'm currently messing around with the rear hatch slam panel trying to figure out how to fabricate that section. It can be a lot of messing about.
  5. Are we sure this is an original colour for a 2+2? I don't seem to recall seeing it on a 2+2 in any year. http://www.zhome.com/History/ZColorGallary/ Funny enough the 1 colour missing on that chart is 362 Dark Purple Metallic. Wikipedia shows a purple 260z. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_S30 https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c9/Datsun_260_Z_purple_vr.jpg
  6. Yep Matt Drago's car, he advertised here also.
  7. Yep in Ireland it was the same, lots of people had convertibles and I could never quite work out why? I guess they are optimistic. I was also once told that in Europe Ireland was the 4th biggest market for Ice Cream. Go figure...
  8. Ohhh very cool. The original PS30-SB (A.K.A 432-R) either had or had the option of plexiglass side windows.
  9. I really dislike the fact that everyone in Australia is buying SUVs, it's a farce. Most who buy them will never use them for their intended purpose, but people 'feel safe' driving them. Watch from 6:50 in, on the emotions they play on to sell you such vehicles...
  10. How about this? http://www.goo-net-exchange.com/php/search/summary.php?maker_cd=1040&car_cd=10401507 As always depends on condition and what someone is willing to spend, that's why an auction with a set reserve is always a good idea. Looks like good examples are asking around $20K USD.
  11. I don't want to derail this post since it's talking about a classic car bubble (not real estate) but I do believe both are connected. I've already destroyed the FDRX7.com forums with my talk of a housing bubble. haha.
  12. By the way found this the other day, seems to be 1 of the better guides out there at the moment on buying an S30z. http://www.tradeuniquecars.com.au/buyers-guide/1506/datsun-240z-260z-(1970-1975)-buyers-guide/ Articles like that really talk about the S30z in an upbeat fashion and I guess will attract more and more people toward the marque. Interesting they were more expensive than a GTHO Falcon...Of course released a couple of years later though.
  13. I asked him if the price was legit, he confirmed it was correct. I wish him good luck. Yes I think 240z's are going to go up in value over the next couple of years, my prediction is that they may even double....Which is scary to think about. All driven by a crazy collector car market. All I can hope for is the fed will hike interest rates, the cheap money tap will stop flowing, house prices will return to a sane level along with classic cars.
  14. Interesting, I had a 75 2+2 and it had the volt gauge.
  15. By the way I was wondering what years these were from, judging by the amp gauge I'd say it was from a 74 260z. So quite rare as far as 260z gauges go.
  16. No no, retrofitted.
  17. Perception is reality, people perceive the 240z as the original and better car, somewhat lighter, less emissions constrained, better performance etc.. Hence people value them higher. The RS30 as you say is the same car just different dashboard, rear lights, other trim items etc.. I think the North American market has a lot to do with it, they don't rate the 260z's much. Most talk about the 240z or 280z's but the 260z is often forgotten. So they are better value for money in that respect. I could go on a long list as to why I prefer the early S30z's over the later ones but that is personal bias.
  18. That's an R180 diff gasket, I think the R200 is slightly bigger so may need a bigger gasket also.
  19. Yeah that's gotta be the earliest 260z (RS30 prefix) car I've seen. Has anyone here got an earlier 1? Hopefully it's a good solid car, having come from the UK where rust can be an issue.
  20. In the video description.
  21. Nice, I suspect I'll have to do this also my car has been sitting for 20+ years now and I'm sure it's looking nasty inside. Are you going to repaint the exterior of the tank?
  22. Received thanks Peter.
  23. This car must make your head spin then PositiveTennis? http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/datsun/240z/1751879.html $60K for a rough looking 240z.
  24. Welcome, at some point somebody stood back after painting that car and said "Phowahhh that looks great". Hopefully the colour is the worst part, and the body work underneath is good. I'm sure you'll enjoy it either way.
  25. Good price on these.
