  1. I'm interested but... I'm doing a tafe course and think I could make my own if it runs again this semester.. If not I'll be interested.
  2. It sounds like something that would have happened anyway... The 240z heater core is made of brass/copper or metal (not sure if it's brass/copper) but same as radiator I believe (not plastic like a lot of modern stuff would be) and so I can't imagine high pressure (~ 12 psi - 14psi or 1 bar?) being an issue? But that's my non-technical opinion....
  3. I'm with Lurcho's - what the? How did you over-pressurise it?
  4. Get an airbox made, that's what I plan to do with triples. None of these horrid socks....
  5. Just adding a link here to a previous topic where we discussed some of this stuff. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,15508.0.html
  6. Ok no problem, I'll wait to see what the group consensus is on this.
  7. Please do, I want to do this mod.
  8. So I got a reply from MSA on the rear tail light chrome trims. So unfortunately the only savings would be via shipping..Which we would likely have to split in 2 anyway because otherwise we'll go over the $1000 AUD limit for imported goods. Does this make Randy's pair more appealing?
  9. Go on spoil yourself... http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/ferrari/auction-886140308.htm 1962 styled bodied GTO Ferrari Alloy body , original style chassis, 1968 Ferrari V12 engine, 5 speed gearbox, and diff. Original Alloy Borrani wire wheels, original instruments, Leather seats. Built by Rod Tempero
  10. There is a god. 4 rotor S30z. 4 rotors are amazing! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXlWjefaniU
  11. For $50k today you could probably buy a pretty good S30z.
  12. DON'T THROW IT OUT! You can get an American LHD mirror and repair it. The stalk angles on the AU 240z's were different to the US market and the stalk is basically the only part that is different. Took me 6 years to find an AU market mirror. If you are planning to get rid of the stalk I'll take it!
  13. It doesn't have to be name and shame, it can be name and recommend . If we build up a list of good dealers and contact names we can turn this thread into a sticky as in who to deal with in Nissan Australia.
  14. Great, but is Trevor the only person who can actually help us?
  15. LOL maybe he had to boot up Windows 95 to run the software that the parts catalogue works with? That would make me swear too and tell you to go to Bursons or Repco. Good feedback and another great example of customer service at Nissan.
  16. See this thread. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,12457.0.html
  17. Thread revival I know, but I've seen several topics around finding parts and I can't help but think Oz S30z enthusiasts are paying over the odds for genuine parts from the US (eBay + postage is killer) Here is 1 example. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DATSUN-240Z-NEW-IN-BOX-EARLY-OEM-OIL-PRESSURE-SENDER-UNIT-NOS-RARE-/271895467267 $238.00 + $75 USD shipping... Madness. I can get the same part for around $40.... So here is what I propose.... 1. Every time you have a lackluster experience with a Nissan parts counter person in Australia document it here. Name the dealer you called and the part you were after...If the sales clerk was particularly rude you can also name them here, but I think we should just stick with dealership names rather than individuals. Sometimes individuals are disincentivised to help through lackluster management folk . 2. Once we've built up a list of 'poor experiences' we can launch a twitter campaign . https://twitter.com/nissan_aus I couldn't find Richard Emery's Twitter Account, maybe someone else can? http://www.nissan.com.au/Discover/News/2014/February/21/NISSAN-AUSTRALIA-ANNOUNCES-RICHARD-EMERY-AS-NEW-MANAGING-DIRECTOR-AND-CEO But we can Tweet to their Nissan Australia page. Surely if we are vocal enough about keeping Nissan's heritage cars on the road we can get upstairs (management) to start kicking downstairs (parts divisions) to emphasise the importance of helping customers with older cars source parts are reasonable prices (no eBay seller markup). I'm sure they could use Auszcar folks in their marketing campaigns, it could only really be a positive for Nissan. 1 thing about say Porsche or other marque's is that they look after all their model ranges (new and old) and their customer base. At least much better than Nissan appears to. Which is sad really, we need to let the higher up's know that this is a problem. After all Trevor at Brighton Nissan was apparently very good (I ordered through him in the past). http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?topic=1736.0 But he's moved on and we need someone else just as enthusiastic to pick up where he left off.
  18. Sadly doesn't show part no. here. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/10-2252 Found this bracket also. http://www.enginewhisperer.com/wp/?p=697 Along with part no. 55415-N4301 for the diff mount. Plenty on eBay brand new for around $50 USD + shipping. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1972-1978-Nissan-240Z-260Z-280Z-Rear-Differential-Mount-Insulator-OEM-NEW-/191579574506 I also believe it should be readily available from Nissan with the part no. 55415-N4301 which should be cheaper than eBay.
  19. So you've traded broken manifold bolts and degraded wiring for rust, exhaust fumes and expensive NOS. Sounds like a good trade to me .
  20. Right near me, thanks!
  21. Well done Rev.
  22. Well I emailed MSA for a quote on group buy discount. No reply, based on this thread. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,14734.0.html No surprises. I'll try calling them shortly.
  23. Just wanted to say that I received my Rally Clock back from Ron today as part of a warranty repair. As mentioned here it had stopped working after a couple of weeks. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,14206.msg163182.html#msg163182 Well Ron has been testing it extensively for weeks and making sure everything was in order, in the end he replaced a few components that were suspect in terms of wear and started / stopped the clock several times to make sure the issue was resolved. Throughout the entire process Ron has kept me in the loop and I was happy for Ron to take as much time as needed to repair the clock. As some will know I've had several clocks fixed by Ron and am always happy with the quality of work, communication, and always impressed with how well he boxes up the clocks and ensures they are protected during transit. The man knows attention to detail. I wouldn't hesitate dealing with him and would be only too happy to recommend him to others. Shame I've run out of clocks. @Ron - by the way a while ago I posted this in the business director section of the site. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,14015.0.html Might be good to merge the 2 topics or move this from introductions section to recommended business directory if you like?
  24. I'll let you know mate, just waiting to hear back from him. He's located close by to me so that was part of the reason I was interested, that and I'm long overdue to have 1 of these in my garage.
