Depends on what he wants for it, I thought about that but you'd have to see what's damaged and what parts are on it and in what shape to determine value of said bits and pieces.

Yeah thanks mate, no rush on this will keep my eyes open for them when they come up. Since I was refreshing my tail lights I decided to start on these. I think I can get replacement lens pretty easily, just the housing that's the hard part. I was surprised to find different length versions and the 260z ones have the split between indicator and parker which I thought was just the lens, didn't realise it was also the housing that was different.

Not that I'm aware of, but the old gasket might have been glued in at some stage to help seal (fumes from exhaust) and as the rubber deteriorated it may have helped reduce fumes.

Maybe they are glued in? Photo? They should come out relatively easily.

Bit of a revival on this thread I know but came across it while searching for something else and thought it was a good time to give an update. So as many know I did end up getting an FD RX-7 and I've had it 5 years now. It's been reliable in that time, the only major issue was the original radiator started to leak and was replaced by an upgraded Koyo Radiator, which is recommended anyway given the heat these generate. The biggest issue I had with the car was that it was stolen and damaged, I spent significant time putting her back together but she's now better than when I started. The rear suspension has started to develop a bit of a click (pillow ball bushes) which is common at this mileage (just over 102,000 km's now). I had to replace a leaky sump (again common) and so far I've resisted modifying it with a big exhaust or upping boost etc.. I have no regrets buying it, fantastic car. In fact I loved it so much I imported it back with me to Australia. I even took it on a drive day a while back. So why the thread revival? Well a friend recently bought a 944 (non turbo) 83 model and on the weekend I took it for a drive. I have to say I really did enjoy it, what a great little car. It's been well look after and is a good honest car. Even though it was non-turbo it still went quite well and was really enjoyable to drive. If I didn't have the FD I'd probably consider a 944 Turbo S or maybe the S2 (3.0ltr) N/A version. My friend picked his car up for $10k which I think represents excellent value, I actually can't believe you can get so much car for so little money. Driving it I noticed a lot of 911 owners were looking at it on the road, I guess that's how many 911s are on the road. They seem like a well built car that's for sure. I was never really a massive fan until I drove 1.

It's funny because for years those 260z style alloys were so common you couldn't give them away, but lately I've not seen many advertised. So you may have to pay a bit more for a set now. Although if you're patient you'll probably find a pair cheap. It's the center caps that are impossible to find in good condition. Congratulations, I heard about this car believe it or not? It looks like an accident free car? Or did it come with free accidents? . From what I can see it has the original steel fan. Radiator looks like original type. Yes 5 speed gear knob is a good find, but I was more excited by the blue interior you have there! No original radio is a shame but good to see rest of car is still pretty original. Shift boot is not original type, looks horrid turf it haha. I'm guessing it's had at least 1 original paint job in it's life? Judging by rear tail light panel getting the colour coded treatment. The choke knob is the later 'square type' as opposed to the rounded type like the hand throttle has. You have the blanking plates for the rear defogger and parkers. An increasingly rare find, good to know a few still out there to be discovered.

Hi guys, I'm after 240z lens housings for the front indicators (lower valance piece at the front of the car). Interestingly it seems there might be a difference in length? Not sure if anyone can shed light on this. I think the top 1 was off my other 240z, the bottom 1 came off the Safari Gold car. The top 1 is a passenger side housing which is in good condition (exception is broken screws embedded into housing, might be able to drill these out). Back of the 240z housing for comparison. The longer version at the bottom has a cracked housing. Driver side has a crack at the top right hand corner (piece missing). It's also got a crack on the other side-which will probably fall apart at any moment. This was a 260z type housing (note: 2 bulb holders). It also has R stamped on it for right (240z) ones don't have this. What I need 1. I'm looking for a driver side housing (240z style) - maybe shorter version if possible? 2. Or I'm looking for a complete set (without cracks) and lens can be in any shape...

That actually looks quite decent, front left (drivers side) looks like it may have taken a knock, judging by headlight bucket alignment and colour of blue paint being a slightly different shade. Everything else looks like it is there, pretty original.

It did look like a good solid project to start with. 2 straight looking relatively rust free bonnets also! Images below for posterity.

I'm happy to do either vendor to be honest. The eBay Randy fella has said that the center stalk on his are a bit short. But his has the fasteners. I don't think finding replacement push nuts will be too difficult so if everyone is happy to go MSA route I'm down with that also.

Agreed parts car, trying to weld that up would be like pissing in the wind. Not fun.

You can get them on Yahoo! Auctions but not cheap. Last set went for around $300 AU before shipping before broker fees etc.. They had minor cracks in the covers and the trims were a little patina'd with a bit of surface rust in a couple of places. That was actually cheap compared to other sets I've seen...

I don't like them without the chrome trim rings.

Yes freight would be a killer, but 2+2's are seldom seen in the US these days. I believe I've seen 2+2's being parted out on Craigslist.org in the US.
