  1. Stalk angle is different between LHD and RHD mirrors. So not the same.
  2. I recently ordered some stuff from Steve from http://www.240zrubberparts.com/ and I just wanted to post positive feedback for his Hitachi Radio Replica Faceplates and knobs. Items were well packaged and communication was good. Only negative to report was that it took a few months to get them, but this is understandable as it's a side business for Steve and I was totally fine with the wait. I ordered 2 faceplates and 3 sets of knobs and trims. Can you spot the original vs replica's?
  3. Lovin' the vintage pictures, thanks for sharing. A shame about the XC Cobra, pretty cool car. At least you still have the S30z though.
  4. It certainly appears to be: So it actually sounds like not a bad deal for someone looking to restore it. HS30 00251 with matching numbers L24 perhaps? Interesting...good find.
  5. Ad is back up. If the rest of the car is straight and relatively minor rust I could see $8k being a good price with a view to putting the lid back on it. I'd be interested to know what number it is.
  6. Yeah it's an odd 1, last few 240z's that have been listed (3 this last week) have all been taken down within a couple of hours. Is there a mad rush on? FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) ?
  7. Here is another "It was a good idea at the time" project for someone. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/langwarrin/cars-vans-utes/datsun-240z-convertable/1091439386 It looks like an early 240z (71) chassis number not listed. You'll need a roof turret, some rear 1/4 panels and a "Ledge" to put this 1 right. Asking $8,000.00 Negotiable Langwarrin, VIC Says it's unregistered. If anyone calls, please get the chassis number.
  8. Tesla Model S v Holden V8 Supercar v Walkinshaw HSV GTS Drag Race
  9. Sadly I want to know what was the original video for that soundtrack. Nothing compares to the sound of a 4 rotor.
  10. Looks like a generic mirror - seen similar ones like it before, but not an OEM item.
  11. Call Ashley at Moorabbin Auto Spares, I think he was breaking a Turbo 2 seater.
  12. It's awesome that your dad is able to relive the experience of his old 240z, through this new 240z. I recall my mum saying when she saw the 240z in the showroom in the 70s she wanted 1 but couldn't get 1. When I first got my 240z, I didn't have my full license at the time so she used to drive it to pick me up and then sit in the passenger seat and I'd drive it home. I was happy that she finally got to experience driving a 240z all those years later, after giving up so many things to have us kids. Sports cars being 1 of them. . She never openly said it, but I could tell she enjoyed driving it.
  13. Nope, just the time required to build a proper register has not been available.
  14. Looks like a 71 has the early style console, but vent holes in 1/4 panels. Either way looks like a bargain. All things considered that was cheap in my opinion. *Edit just noticed the radiator support looks like 73 model with the additional lip on top of the radiator support. This was introduced in 73. So that means it's either a later 73 model with early console in it (for some reason) or it's a 71 model with a replaced front radiator support panel. Still very well priced considering...
  15. Do you mind sharing photos? Do you know if it was indeed an early car? If so did you get the number?
  16. Is this the $700 car that was in Sydney a week or so ago with missing doors and pretty much part of the garden? So someone bought it to flip it? Unbelievable...
  17. Can upload photos of his other junk, but not his car for sale? At $3,500 it's either really really rough or the guy has no idea what it's worth. Not sure it's a 1970 model either, without a chassis number impossible to know.
  18. George did you source an early rear hatch or was that repaired? Same with rear beaver panel was that fabricated? I'm sure before we got to this stage some people thought you were crazy taking this on (I was 1 of them in the beginning), now seeing it like this though the hardest part is behind you. It will really be an amazing restoration story.
  19. That console! I want to see it installed though . Those brakes look a bit "how ya going alright". I think without compressor air it's pretty hard to get them out. I recall taking mine to some brake shops in Ireland (for my rx-7) and asking if they could help me get them out. Nobody wanted to touch them, I think they were all afraid of having someone come back to them after touching brakes. Not sure if you would get the same response over here? Someone once said to use a grease gun to pump the pistons out, but I would worry about contaminants, so I don't recommend this myself. Might be best to take it to a specialist brake place though?
  20. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/2655-the-ebay-thread-2-post-ebay-parts-here/?p=162780
  21. What's going on? Lots of cars coming onto the market this weekend?
  22. Previously listed here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13299-72-240z-withdrawn-from-sale/ It looks like chassis number is: HS30-103695 The black (vinyl wrapped) 71 240z listed above earlier today is already de-listed...
  23. 1971 Datsun 240Z ready for RWC but needs cosmetic attention $14,500.00 Negotiable http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/clayton-south/cars-vans-utes/1971-datsun-240z-ready-for-rwc-but-needs-cosmetic-attention/1091102588 I can't see this lasting longer than a day. I wonder what number it is, shame about the tacky modifications.
  24. Interesting auction idea. http://www.ebay.com/itm/240Z-Series-1-Steering-Wheel-RestoModded-as-the-auction-progresses-/201441126118
