  1. Just an FYI in case you missed the end of auction but they sold for 1,404,000 yen which is ~17K $AUD at today's rate.
  2. I'm not going to claim I'm an expert on PS30 build numbers and sequences but I'd say it's probably likely it was a 1970 build. Other features of the car would help indicate if this is true. eg: vents in rear hatch, hand throttle / choke / early astray / console etc.. There was about 400 PS30's made inc. the 27-30 PS30-SBs. I believe production of these vehicles wasn't held up like early L24 powered cars which had a crankshaft issue. So it's likely it was built in 1970 but I would guess maybe late/second half of 1970?
  3. That's correct.
  4. I had a 260z 2+2 and it was reliable considering all things, but it was by far the worst S30z I owned. Not because it was a 2+2 but because it had some less than ideal previous owners and had been messed about with. The only issue with a 260z 2+2 and short journey's is the choke / warm up routine but if you're willing to live with that and forego other luxuries of a modern car it's ok. I think rust is the bigger issue and will you drive it in all weather? Somewhere safe to park it? There's something to be said about having a throw away car that just gets the job done and you don't have to worry about. The 2+2 rear seats are ok in terms of space considering but like all 2 door coupe's is a bit of a pain in the butt letting people in and out.
  5. Last time I checked it was only a small portion of site activity that was "signed in users" and a smaller portion of traffic is "signed in donating members" so no that wouldn't be a big deal. The web-stats I look at tell me that member activity on the site is really the tip of the iceberg, a majority of traffic is actually casual or non-signed in users. The only issue with the donating members set up is that I've never had a good system for managing updating a user and downgrading again after a time period. There is a plugin or 2 I can use for this software that will do it though. So will look into it when I get a chance. I've thought about this also, charging a small fee for classifieds but when you have Gumtree offering free ads I think I'd like to encourage people to list items here so members can take advantage of that. However I'm a bit reluctant to dramatically change the classifieds for a couple of reasons: 1. It's the most popular section of the forum. 2. I think charging would reduce the listings and therefore make parts less available to members. A smarter option would be a priority listing of some sort that gives greater visibility for certain listings. You could charge a small Premium for those.
  6. I'm pretty sure we agreed it was up until HS30 00500 based on the workshop manuals? It seems 501 was the first to have no vents in the hatch. I wonder what they used to fill the vents in your hatch? Bondo? Doesn't look like it was welded up. For that reason maybe they did you a favor anyway? Should be easy to remove and revert back.
  7. My sentiments exactly, I'm very partial to original s30z's. I think these cars have had the lime light put on them again since early 2000s when video games started to feature the s30z, I remember getting excited that Gran Turismo 2 on the original PlayStation had a 240ZG. I lost interest in video games for the most part about 10 years back, but I have noticed more and more games feature these cars, movies, music videos, and many automotive programs have really talked up how good they were. Then you have niche programs like Wangan Midnight etc.. Which is where a lot of people seem to first learn about these cars. They are well and truly part of pop culture. I always felt they were underrated and under appreciated. So it was only a matter of time I guess? I'm just glad I've got the Zeds I do already.
  8. Could always give them a call, pretend to be interested in a 240z and ask what the last 1 sold for? I think it will go overseas personally. Given the weak $AUD it probably wasn't a bad buy for a buyer in the right part of the world.
  9. Big news and big changes, congratulations. I hope you're only joking about the for sale ad though? You are right?
  10. Those doors look really long to me, I suspect they are 2+2 doors, but hard to tell without a photo of the shell / inside.
  11. Just wanted to add a link to this page. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/27228-new-here-from-south-africa/ Since it has some interesting info, but also post #8. Picture: my first 240Z chasis 001250 sometime in 1999 on the way to Cape Town. So a good chance it's HS30 001250 ?
  12. 907 Green with Kobe Seiko wheels in black. Car is owned by FilipeA on Classizcars.com - beautiful.
  13. As an FYI: This is a picture of a 73 Portuguese delivered 240z, notice how the indicators are on top of the bumper? The lucky beggars got Kobe Seiko wheels as standard on their market. See here.
  14. Yeah I would like to visit the museum when it's open. Looks like in their list of cars they have more than 1 240z / 260z.
  15. Looks like it will keep some good company. http://gccmuseum.com.au/the-galleria/
  16. Oh wow, that's interesting. I thought it might have been leaving the country. I had actually recommended someone in the UK consider your car. I said it was a good honest car to begin with.
  17. FYI: These sold quite a bit cheaper. http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f159968984 Not sure they are quite the same though? 64,000 YEN.
  18. I've seen similar chalk marks on other S30z's. This inscription is from a very early AU delivered 240z. Chassis number is lower than #100.
  19. Agreed, not everything that sells for big money in Japan is reflected in other markets. I keep track of prices of various auctions and I've seen wheels in worse shape sell for quite a bit less. Those above were refurbished and looked good. Keep in mind they are only worth money to those doing restorations and for someone like me I'd pay a Premium for 1970 date stamped wheels, but 71/72/73 are worthless to me.
  20. I know how much they are worth... http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f159541868 Sold for 135,000 yen recently. These were date stamped 1972, I'm looking for a 1970 date stamped set. Hence wasn't interested in those >
  21. Yes please do Pete.
  22. The Guest. What can I say? I had no idea what it was going to be about, and I'm glad. I really suggest just watching it and seeing how you react. I really liked this film for a whole bunch of reasons. Although I'm not sure everyone will see in it what I did. I loved the 80s infused soundtrack. Interested in what others think, it is on Netflix I'd rate it 8.5/10.
  23. 1973 Datsun 240Z $12,000.00 Negotiable Collingwood Park QLD 4301 http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/collingwood-park/cars-vans-utes/1973-datsun-240z/1090471151
  24. Sad to see you letting it go mate. But happy for the new owner.
  25. Hi Guys, I have a contact in the US who is looking for a RHD pedal box to suit his Fairlady Z. Apparently they are slightly different in that the clutch pedal is slightly bent since it's closer to the transmission tunnel than on a LHD car. So we are either looking for a clutch (or brake if they are the same) pedal or entire pedal box? I will be traveling to the US soon, but not sure I'll be taking an entire pedal box with me on my flight, so not a rush but if you have a pedal or box please do let me know? It would be much appreciated as this person is helping me find some parts for my 240z's . Cheers, Gavin
