    Clacking

A member not that long ago was complaining about a similar noise, turned out it was an exhaust gasket leaking. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/14197-engine-noise/
  2. It looks nice and honest from the photos, good hunting. I quite like the wheels and stance as it is, although they wouldn't be my first choice they have a certain charm about them.
  3. Not listed long, I could only find 1 thumbnail image of the interior.
  4. On my flight to SFO yesterday I saw Paul Newman's "Winning". Lots of footage of Datsun's racing around late 70's early 80's. I enjoyed watching it and made me appreciate the 280zx 2 seaters a little more.
  5. Only way to know is look in the parts manual at the part no's. You can sometimes find cheap fender mirrors for sale on eBay and could possibly nick the hardware from there. ($50 only for this pair). http://www.ebay.com/itm/CHROME-FENDER-MIRROR-SET-FIT-FOR-DATSUN-FAIRLADY-NISSAN-S30-240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-/262315022857
  6. I reckon it's likely got more rust than just those in the photos. Quite a bit of work repairing these if they have been botched up before. Hope it's not hiding much under the paint.
  7. Mid life crisis? I dunno, if that's the case I've been having a 1/4 life crisis for a while now... Welcome to the nut house.
  8. Luvemfast had a pair. Your old ones can probably be repaired.
  9. Yay....
  10. A big park of the cost will be eBay fees they gouge you as a seller.
  11. Another couple here to document. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/14685-anyone-here-about-to-start-3-projects/
  12. I'm pretty sure the stalk angle on genuine S30z's is also a bit different to the 510/Skyline ones. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/11863-early-style-fender-mirrors-as-found-on-early-chassis-id-ie-up-to-hs30-1000/?p=174335 Bit of a shame I don't know anyone reproduction the mounting hardware like the plastic cups etc.. You can get the base part (plastic) but that's about it a far as I'm aware.
  13. Are you sure about this? As far as I'm aware all L26's had an E88 head fitted. N42 was introduced with the L28. However I'm not always right about later 260z's that's for sure. Engine heads are discussed here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/4286-overview-of-l6-engine-heads/
  14. Good video on the 510, they shot down the BMW copy myth and also the Mercedes engine design copy nonsense... Lots of praise for the 510, values have been slow to appreciate. Perhaps because so many were sold here and still quite a few around. I think they will start to appreciate soon enough though.
  15. Hi Matt, Can you PM me the price you're looking for for these: 1. SU carbs (are they 3 or 4 screw version?) 2. Front + rear bumper (does it include mounting bolts and hardware / brackets)? 3. Combination switch / indicator + plastic cowl? 4. What condition is the fuel tank in? Any major dents in it?
  16. Have you got work done through him?
  17. Just a tip guys, to get the Youtube videos to embed simply copy / paste the Youtube URL. Don't add it as a link, there is no need. The parser will automatically read the Youtube URL in the text and convert to an embedded video type. Edit: Love the valve cover in video #2. "TSUMORI ENGINIARING" Oh dear...
  18. Unfortunately they don't fit the Chrome trim rings or so I believe.
  19. More threads where discussion of reproductions has happened. http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/110976-oem-style-headlight-covers/ Sadly progress was good and then it fizzled out... http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/123360-reproducing-headlight-covers-input-needed-from-the-community/\ More recent thread but no updates lately...
  20. Hey Doug, How much interest would you need to make it viable? There has been a few sets on Yahoo! Auctions over the past year but they seem to have shot up in value lately. I have tried bidding on a few but missed out, haven't tried to win a set in a while though. I am not sure how tricky the chrome trim rings will be to make. I'd imagine you would need to shape it and tig weld it together, not sure if you'd use stainless or another material? I keep forgetting to ask the teacher at Tafe, will try and do it next time I'm there. But I won't be there for a couple of weeks. Traveling next week, so will need to be the week after. I am not sure if locally we would have much demand but I think the North American and Japanese / European markets might have interest. Supposedly there was someone doing reproduction sets in Japan, but I'm not sure who? http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/29086-repro-headlight-covers/ I could ask around..
  21. Alan you mentioned the Fairlady Z-S didn't come with a radio, but I'm confused because here we discussed that Fairlady Z and Fairlady 240z may have come with the radio discussed here? http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13817-hitachi-radio-model-tm-1081za-trivia/?p=163722 The Hitachi Radio without the signal seek function and antenna switch? Or was it optional that it came with a radio upon delivery?
  22. "Gotti" style wheels. http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/182491464 Price range: $7-10K for a set of 4. For comparison here were a set of 13" ones on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Gotti-13x7-114-3-Rims-SET-OF-4-Wheels-JDM-Euro-Porsche-Toyota-Nissan-13-/191731784365 See also: http://fcyap.blogspot.com.au/2015/02/factory-racing-wheels-made-by-kobe.html Terrible translation.
  23. Yeah so definitely not an HS30, just an S30Z and based on the lack of options I'd say Alan is on the money regarding spec. I've never seen an ID plate that faded.
  24. I'll bet it was originally white or silver too!
  25. Here is a good reference car, if it is indeed an HS30 home market car. https://picasaweb.google.com/107400787026175995661/HS30103407?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCNPj4YaDu_-IywE&feat=directlink
