  1. Generally speaking this is true, the later 76/77 model 2 seaters were imported in very low numbers. The 2+2s out sold them something like 10:1. If I recall correctly.
  2. Inflation mate. There was a place in Adelaide. Someone posted an example recently I was trying to find it but no luck yet. Quality looked top shelf.
  3. Thanks Mark, Ledge mentioned it earlier in the thread also. I believe they are based in South Australia. I worry about sending a batch of parts via post interstate because if anything got lost (and let's face it courier's do some pretty creative stuff) it would be a massive PITA to locate all the bits and pieces again.
  4. Yep it might seem expensive, but consider if removing the front end panels, the time involved in re-alignment of said panels and the risk of paint chips etc.. A broken or rusted in bolt could also put a snag in the works. This is the kind of job you could do yourself, but it would require a whole lot of time and some patience.
  5. I was just looking at George's build thread again because I was trying to remember who he got his plating done through. I'm wondering how you went with the vacuum chrome plating for your plastic parts? Did they turn out ok?
  6. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/10488-nissan-s30z-parts-finder/ http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/3360-s30-factory-service-manual-scanned/ I also do have an AU specific parts manual but haven't decided the best way to provide access to it yet.
  7. http://www.uniquecarsales.com.au/private/details/custom-kit-car-1973-28191765?ref=RecentItem HS30 102880 1973 Datsun 240z with L26 motor fitted. But it has rear seats and an early console... I will post photos later...
  8. Actually found 1 photo. http://classicthrottleshop.com/soldcars.htm nb: indicators above bumper.
  9. I was just trying to find photos of the other Silver car but couldn't find the posts earlier in this thread. I am somewhat ashamed to say I don't think I embedded them here, which I usually try and do for this particular reason. From memory the 73 car has some trim items that were not original to it's year and a few other minor issues, but both cars look very similar.
  10. HS30 01036 http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/1924-cars-for-sale-3rd-party-sites-ebay-carsales-etc/?p=167027 http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/1924-cars-for-sale-3rd-party-sites-ebay-carsales-etc/?p=167018 Bit of a bitsa...
  11. There was another Silver 240z for sale via the same group a little while ago around $52,000 but these are not the same cars. Or at least I don't think they are. The other was a 73 240z with the indicators above the bumpers, this car is a 71 with hand throttle and early console (so it should have a 71A gearbox also unless it was changed). This car also has fender mirrors (as it should) and the 73 did not.
  12. I don't suppose anyone in SA knows where this car is? http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/adelaide-cbd/cars-vans-utes/1976-datsun-240k-coupe/1109336497 I don't have an issue with a spotters fee, but when you don't know the person how are you to know you're buying reliable info?
  13. Welcome, yes cars are selling quickly as prices have moved in the last couple of years. Best to find cars that nobody else knows about yet. Relying on the Internet has it's drawbacks.
  14. Yes I do that with posts in this thread. It's not the easiest thing to do, but I try and do it before the car is sold or disappears so we have some record of it.
  15. Great looking example, wonder what number it is? It's not on the current list of known cars.
  16. I actually found his channel because of the SAAB Sonnet, in the thumbnails it nearly looked like an S30Z. Then I was watching his videos and came across that 1. However I didn't want to admit I was looking at Sonnet's lol..They're quirky looking cars but it's obvious to me just how good the S30Z's were for their time when I compare the 2.
  17. By the way all those rust spots are pretty typical on an S30Z.
  18. So that area is a little tricky to repair given the curvature of the panel. However I don't think it's worth getting an entire new 1/4 it could be fixed. But you'll need someone with skills to fabricate that section. Bit of a weird spot, they usually rust below the fuel filler not above. The filler neck section is glued to the 1/4 panel there and traps moisture resulting in rust. I am going to do the same repair on my 240z, but you really need to remove the fuel tank before you can do anything about it. For obvious reasons!
  19. False alarm, called and spoke to seller he was just out of range... I got suspect because Gumtree is well... a cesspit at times.
  20. Nice photos Olivers Hill in Frankston no doubt! I was considering moving out that way for affordable housing (Frankston), always liked the Mornington Peninsula.
  21. 240K Coupe Inner West Sydney. $24,000.00 http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/canada-bay-area/cars-vans-utes/1975-datsun-240k-coupe-factory-manual-matching-no-s/1109270701 I tried to call the phone number says it's disconnected, my partner works with an SMS company and says the phone number could be a 'virtual number'. So we suspect it could be a scam.
  22. I tend to agree they are not my favorite, but my own 72 car has Superlites and I'm not a huge fan of those either...It's a pretty neat example even if there is a couple of custom touches that don't float my boat. I noticed the 2400 Valve Cover, even though it's not correct for a 72 I like them .
  23. There are various options out there. Zierbart coatings. Por-15. KBS rust seal. Cavity Waxes etc.. In many cases these are applied by a using a tool that allows you to paint in hard to reach areas. Eastwood's offers kits like these: http://search.eastwood.com/auto/Rust%20Proofing%20Wand Where you get a wand to spray into hard to reach areas etc.. I've seen some examples where holes are drilled into sill panels, rockers etc.. So that a spray can be applied, obviously I'd rather not drill unnecessary holes if not required. My approach on my car will be to rust proof areas I have access to when doing rust repairs and make sure surfaces like inside of panels that were not adequately prepped at the factory back in the day have etch primer with some kind of rust proof paint over the top. Once the car is fully painted I'll look at wax coatings applied to common problem areas for S30z's, but I plan to keep my cars garaged anyway (so many benefits to this I won't even start). I would honestly not plan to keep a 45 year old S30z out in the elements if you can avoid it for too long, even if it means renting a garage to store it in. In Australia you also have to worry about hail damage which is almost impossible to predict..
  24. Do you know if the kit is for the 3 or 4 screw dome top SUs?
