  1. After much deliberation on the topic and reading lots of forum threads on the subject (some advised using inert gas to pump into the tank such as co2) I decided I would not do any welding on the tank myself - even though I ordered a Kingchrome slide hammer kit already. I like my eyebrows where they are, and the eyes my mother gave to me and although I could have filled the tank with water or done all sorts of workarounds given the tank is in good shape internally I think it is worth outsourcing this job to a specialist.. I called: http://www.alexandriaradiatorservice.com.au/spoke with a chap named Sonny and all going well I'll drop the OEM radiator and fuel tank down their way this weekend. With the fuel tank he told me I can save some money doing work myself but the fuel tank lining stuff smells really bad so must be done outside of you'll pass out (sounds fun!). So we will see what happens once he has seen the tank. If there is easy stuff I can do i'll do it. I saw that Kevin from Japanese Nostalgic Car (Babalouie) had his Skyline radiator re-done by the same guys and the quality of work looks good. http://www.performanceforums.com/forums/showthread.php?67227917-KGC10-Hakosuka-Skyline&p=840947052&viewfull=1#post840947052 For those not familiar with Kevin's skyline - check this video out. I'm not sure what shape my radiator is in, so they will be able to pressure test and evaluate it for me (it had coolant sitting in it for 20+ years) and if it can be upgraded to a 3 core (assuming it's only a 2 core) I'll do that at the same time. Will give an update on how things go.
  2. Same seller now offers reproduction earlier style door trims.
  3. Just 1 note about the Ashtray's in general the eBay listing mentions a 'vague melt'. Since I've got about 8 or 9 of these tray's now I can confirm they all have some kind of imperfection from their injection moulding process. I've seen a few with this 'vague melt' look inside the tray. So it's completely normal. I still think the asking price is insane however.
  4. http://www.ebay.com/itm/201560288335 Not just rare, MEGA RARE!!! Buy it now: US $699.00
  5. In the picture above, they are North American spec tail lamps. Red on Red. I can get the rear tail light garnish in the US for around $100 USD for all 3 pieces, however in Japan they sell for significantly more and they are getting very hard to find here. So I'd say around $150-$200 would be a fair price if they are not damaged and the stainless trim is in good shape. That's without the license plate lamp. I think the last set I got from Ashley at Moorabbin Autospares was about $150 AU - no lamp. The lamp itself is expensive now, you can get a reproduction but it costs about $350 AU. OEM ones sell around $400 AU when they are available...
  6. It was never in Australia, just marked as unavailable. (Hence the sold on Gumtree). He's just set up shop, let him get settled in a bit and revert to his old ways. Then we can email her.

  8. Reproduction 240z Hitachi TM-1081ZA manual is here. http://www.zzxdatsun.com/catManuals.php
  9. I will have a crack at mig welding the 1 I cut off the car. As Lurcho's said, not sure why I gave it a second thought? But maybe it's rubber duck debugging at work? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubber_duck_debugging
  10. Nah a TM-1081ZA manual is what I'm after. But it would be cool to have a PDF copy for other members who own 260z's.
  11. http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/forum/forum/community/general-discussion-jnc-news-faq/143-jnc-project-hakosuka-build-thread?p=93193#post93193 Check this out, Wurth Cavity Wax, which can be ordered with this nifty 360 degree spray head.
  12. Sounds like good BBQ discussion material at the meet in Victoria? Not sure i'll be down that way later in the year but we will see. .
  13. Looks like everyone who comes across this scammer is updating this forum thread on the topic. Although this site isn't about preventing scam baiting I'll allow it.
  14. Part of it is labour costs but that isn't the only issue - high land costs is another. As you say we could discuss it all day, but our percentage of GDP based on manufacturing is well below a lot of other OECD nations (UK/US etc..). Good discussions around the topic can be found here: http://www.macrobusiness.com.au/2014/01/australias-huge-manufacturing-labour-costs/ Disclaimer: I subscribe to the website.
  15. Warren at All Z Parts in Sydney and I were chatting on the phone a while back and he said that to get stuff made up in Taiwan is usually pretty easy. He mentioned they didn't care how many you were going to make often and would just go ahead and manufacture it. He said he would approach Aussie suppliers and they would often want a minimum of 1000 orders. No wonder manufacturing is dying in this country.... I'm pretty sure Warren had a few good contacts over that way for that sort of thing.
  16. If you can yes please! I will attempt to repair what I have also but can't hurt to have a spare. Still gotta get a rusted nut off it, even if I do manage to repair it.
  17. That was awesome, who built the engine in Tom's car?
  18. Let me know if you have any of the following left? 1. 240z seat rails 2. Fuel tank straps. 3. Spare wheel locking nut (noticed mine was missing in #150 the other night). 4. Un-cracked indicator housings (not worried about lens) - Looking for single globe units, but if you have 260z ones that's ok. Thanks,
  19. Besides if it was easy S30Z's wouldn't be worth as much restored. . But demand is a big part, too many tight arse S30z owners in the US - who baulk at S30z's over $15k lol...Too busy bogging and flogging their rides...Hate to generalise - actually nah... it's fun.
  20. Limited audience, unlike Mustang's and Camaro's where literally millions were made and sold. The S30z only sold something like 60,000 units in the US of A. There is some panels being made at the moment, but not complete quarter panels for example or doors (door skins yes), what are you after? Nissan was making bonnets up until a couple of years ago, or at least had some NOS but none left now. I am considering importing panels from the US they still have plenty but obviously most are not rust free unless it was from a dry state..
  21. Thanks mate, do you think I could oxy weld mine back together? I simply cut it with tin snips and an oxy weld is a softer more pliable weld so it would still have that elasticity? But not sure if there is a strength issue? I would assume it's ok? But don't want to drag a fuel tank along a highway.. LOL.
  22. RockyAuto is known for resto-modding cars, personally I'm not a fan of a later 350z dashboard and motor in an S30Z, especially not at the price being asked. But it might appeal to someone...
  23. Does anyone have a 240z/260z tach face that has seen better days? Or maybe you have a gauge where some muppet put dumb looking overlays on them? I'm considering experimenting a little with screen printing so don't want to damage an otherwise usable face.
  24. Ain't nobody got fuel tank straps?
  25. If the image opens in the overly, look in the bottom right hand corner. You should see a 'save' icon. Click on that it will open in a new tab and you can right click and save that way.
