  1. Thanks I saved the photos of #855. Shame she's going to the UK, another 1 going abroad. Would you mind sharing the number of your sub-300 early girl? Is she already recorded in this thread or is this another car?
  2. The ice trick is a good 1, shame I don't have a big enough freezer. I heard other suggestions re: compressed air into the tank to pop the dents out. Will see what the specialist in Alexandria says.
  3. I was only half serious...
  4. Just think, it's 1985. Warm summers day and some bloke who's just finished having a couple of beers with a well combed mullet and handle bar mustache has stood back and looked at his work on those flares and said "Phoar, I reckon that looks alright". At least it hasn't got a sunroof
  5. Curious what shape your bonnet is in? If you wouldn't mind posting a photo?
  6. Thanks, I still haven't had a chance to use a colour Spectrometer to check what value it spits out. So good to know Dupli-color has something close. Good news is we get Dupli-Color products here.
  7. Funny enough I was searching for information on this head unit the other day as I brought it into my work to test if it works on a test bench here. I found a unit for sale. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/peakhurst-heights/antiques/pioneer-cassette-car-stereo-/1109637900 I saved a bunch of photos of it, since now somewhat ironically 1 of the first things that comes up when searching for PIONEER KP-8001 is this website and thread.
  8. $12k seems cheap to me. For a 40 year old car in relatively good shape like that. When new the 2+2s were more expensive and a lot of Australian buyers didn't want a 2 seater and preferred the 2+2 for the extra room and passenger carrying ability. They were also bought by middle to upper income types. Seems fitting their values would go up.
  9. The ad says wanted, but I think it may have just been placed in the wrong category as the description leads me to believe it's for sale. Datsun 260z $12,000.00 http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/botany/cars-vans-utes/datsun-260z/1110096508 I love the Good Year tyres on it also (although maybe it's a bit large!), wish I got a set for my 72 240z. Interior condition looks amazing!
  10. I have thought about the same thing, since the roof on #150 is quite good apart from the damn hole put in it! However I am also thinking it's not such a bad idea to unpick it anyway because they tend to get rusty around the roof gutters and if there is any structural rust underneath the skin you can take care of it. Plus KBS rust seal it or treat the area to prevent further damage in future. Of course I could still repair the original turret, plug the hole and then put the original skin back on, but I think there is some merit in removing the turret anyway. Roof skin's can be sourced from the US it's just shipping it that is expensive. I wanted to cry when in SFO and I was told you can get early S30Z vented rear hatches all day long for $100 USD.
  11. George if you want only the best for HS30 00019. http://www.ebay.com/itm/240z-Fuel-Tank-sending-unit-nylon-straps-braided-hoses-complete-kit-/291735463498
  12. I previously thought this car was HS30 00160 but in actual fact and according to QLD transport department the number plate indicates it's actually: HS30 01213, although listed as a 1970, it should be a 1971. Which explains the non-solid steering wheel also. Link to feature article on carsguide.com.au
  13. Are the lens in good shape? Any photos of damage? *Edit never mind I see the damage, to the outer garnish pieces.
  14. Just merged the separate Z432 thread into this 1.
  15. And here it is... http://abr.business.gov.au/SearchByAbnHistory.aspx?abn=99000606851 https://connectonline.asic.gov.au/RegistrySearch/faces/landing/panelSearch.jspx?searchText=000606851&searchType=OrgAndBusNm&_adf.ctrl-state=xws24xqde_21 They say a Leopard can't change it's spots. Perhaps he's trying to disassociate his new business name from the old Edward Lees name which has taken a beating over the last 2 years. Might be time to do a new Search Engine Optimised page for Sun Rise Cars or Rising Sun or whatever the new name is.. . Edward-Lees.pdf Edward-Lees2.pdf
  16. Probably posted it before. But it sounds so nice!
  17. I'm happy to do as many reviews as people like buying replica/reproduction S30Z parts or any parts for that matter to use in my own restorations. So long as the community is willing to sponsor it. Everyone wins that way!
  18. That's the spirit let someone be the guinea pig! haha. Personally as dodgy as it sounds I'm looking to buy some 'chrome tape' and trimming it to fit over these on my door trims for my 72 240z. The trims are not perfect and are in ok shape and the tape wouldn't look all that different from the real plastic chrome (there's an oxymoron) in my opinion. https://www.google.com.au/?q=chrome+tape&gws_rd=ssl#safe=off&q=chrome+tape
  19. Breaks my heart to see the Z nose get beat up like that, but as we know anything can be fixed. With enough money time, patience and skill.
  20. What a rocket! Wonder how much power it's putting out?
  21. and check this cool collection out in South America. https://vimeo.com/144838738
  22. I like the livery on both cars, nice job. Looks period correct. I believe Fuel magazine asked the club not long ago to attend an event they were putting together in Port Melbourne for classic Japanese cars. *Edit found it here. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/12383-coffee-classics-breakfast-event-october-18th/
  23. http://page17.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/v455683469 S20 motor for sale.. Buy it now: 10,000,000 yen (not a typo!)
  24. 1. I believe that by 1974 our cars had air pumps fitted. North American market cars had air pumps on 240z's. Where as we didn't get emissions until 1974 (I'd have to double-check to be 100% sure on exact date we got this stuff). 2. The stock airbox generally performs better than the aftermarket ones that soak up heat from the exhaust like the ones in your picture. I personally would fit it. 3. The aqua 1 looks like the correct style of airbox for a 260z, but I'm not sure without cross checking that they work for all years 260z or if there was a difference between say North American air boxes for 260z's and our market. The orange cleaner shown is a North American delivered 240z style airbox. You can tell because it has the funnel / flapper at the front for cold air setting. Our market never got the flapper. (Ven did you get zee clapper?) 4. I believe they came in both colours, personal preference but most 260z's I've seen had the light blue / aqua colour. Personally I like the contrast of the 'orange' box though. It's sexy.
