  1. You blokes are making it look like there is some LD28 crank cartel going on here. Drip feeing the market with supply. It's worse than de beers artifical diamond market manipulation. >
  2. These could be a good thing 14" Watanabe's? $1,350.00 - Located in SA. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/lonsdale/wheels-tyres-rims/rs-watanabe-14-/1106520003
  3. Go on, we love details like this around here.
  4. I've said it before, Australia is a rent seekers wet dream.
  5. Would be interested in knowing what chassis number, I'm keeping count here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13773-early-girl-bingo-with-photos/ As you can see not much left now. So would be good to account for another!
  6. Rob at ZFactory in Mordialloc is also very good. http://www.zfactory.com.au/ http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/1353-z-factory-to-help-any-confusion/ Sells bits and bobs on Gumtree also. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-seller/Rob/1001681948 He did the repair work on this car. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/9600-hs30-00408-3-year-rebuild/
  7. I always like to see how different people solve rust problems on these cars . As we all know they rust from inside out so sometimes what can't be seen comes back to bite.
  8. Welcome Wags, What is the body work like? It sounds like you want to do some mechanical work to it but usually the majority of money and effort will need to go into the bodywork. Also photos are a must! What year is she?
  9. Thanks, but those socks are not mine. They belong to member Thriller in South Australia (maybe his dad's knee socks?). I feel better about the time invested in this hatch, knowing that a NOS rear hatch is a fortune here: http://jdm-car-parts.com/products/datsun-240z-series-1-rear-hatch-nos In terms of new skills yesterday I was using a slapper (no not that sort), the other sort. With a dolly to help bring low areas up and get it nice and even around the vents (since they were somewhat distorted after cutting them out and shaping them). Of course it's difficult to take photos of that stuff and document it well, but that's where a lot of time goes.
  10. Hey Phil, Sorry for the delay in reply, you originally replied on this thread. But rather than get into the discussion there I thought it best to move it under the Website Feedback and Club Discussions. Yes, there's really 2 reasons it's taken a while. First of all I wanted to sit down and start going through it myself to understand it all and the second has been time. I've started to get the hang of it and have used it a couple of times to cross-reference stuff and it's certainly been very helpful. So yes I've really just been using it for myself so far and to help a couple of other members verify the correct part no. for their cars. This was the bigger road block, as I understood it you would prefer the data be accessible to those who contribute in some way, either via donations or a positive contributor to the club in terms of content and input. Rather than accessible by all those just watching from a distance so to speak and not getting involved. So there is a couple of things there, I first wanted to migrate to the latest version of this forum software and then look at what options exist in the new version for a verified member section only. I can make the data accessible now, via a GoogleDrive link but I guess we want people to give back not just take? Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss in more detail?
  11. Tell me about it, it was supposed to be a rat rod remember? But my OCD kicked in...
  12. Today's progress was slow, but I guess important bits. I drilled the holes for the plastic vent covers to attach to the hatch. I also drilled the hole for the lock. I spent ages making sure the holes would be in the correct spot. I also had to use a body file to try and remove low spots and high spots and get the panel consistent around the holes etc..Next step will be folding the lip around the edges and welding it to the rest of the hatch trim. I'm also having second thoughts about the patched up corners, I may fabricate them out of new steel and weld them in. I figure if it's taking me this long to do the hatch, I may as well spend a little longer and make sure it's perfect...
  13. I thought exactly the same thing, so many S30z's are not properly restored. Just tarted up, given a blow over and she'll be right approach.
  14. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.938325106240149.1073741843.135300686542599&type=3 I am not sure if the link works for others? But it's a 907 Green restoration.
  15. HLS30 00072 is up for sale.. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/53420-1970-z-for-sale/
  16. I had quite a few offers below my $1,500 last time. So I looked around to see if I could import 1 cheaper, it wasn't easy to find 1 much cheaper and then I'd be taking a gamble on making sure the crank wasn't stuffed when I got it here and inspected. Hence I was pretty firm on price.
  17. Did you try this? http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/darra/engine-engine-parts-transmission/240z-su-carby/1105736176
  18. Just an FYI: HS30-00025 - TKS33 SA695 - Works Rally Car - detail here - Later went on to become the original BIG SAM (version 1). This car was later re-shelled (version 2) as HLS30 94014 http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/18214/lot/119/
  19. Might be useful. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/5849-big-sam-240z-octane-magazine-86/
  20. It turns out that there is 2 types of 71A flange based drive shafts. Very early 240z ones were shorter and later ones were longer. So you can move the diff position back provided you use the later driveshaft.
  21. They have Edward Lees old 240z, Matt Drago's 240z and they recently got an SP RX-7. I'm sure they have more 90s Japanese metal also.
  22. It's probably worth about that in it's current shape. An early 240z sub-1000 chassis range is becoming very rare, especially RHD. I honestly don't think $1,000 - $2,000 makes a huge difference when buying such a vehicle because it's going to need more than that put into it. The vinyl could be hiding rust, but so could a fresh paint job. It looks like the car is mostly complete which is a huge positive. There not getting any cheaper.
  23. Well done, good buying I reckon.
  24. If original is important in terms of seat pattern and trim, I may be able to help you source a set of OEM ones in black, you would need to have them re-dyed white to suit though.
  25. Yeah moving fast, thanks for the instant shot of motivation!
