  2. Is your early car accounted for on the early girl bingo thread?
  3. https://tucson.craigslist.org/clt/6117869997.html 72 240z, looks rust free in photos. Obviously been sitting a while.
  4. Late 1970 on Craigslist. https://denver.craigslist.org/cto/6117745224.html 907 Green, engine number close to my car #150.
  5. Domestic vehicles in Japan had a different hubcap design (no D, because they were not Datsun's!). Early exported S30Z's (early 240z's in North America had the centered valve's) later ones had the offset valves. I don't know production date / month cut off dates.
  6. As far as I'm aware the D caps were never fitted to Roadsters, they had a smaller diameter hubcap that attached to the steel wheels via tabs on the inner rim. Some comparison photos can be found here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/14278-wtb-topy-steelies-date-stamped-1970-and-d-datsun-wheel-covershubcaps/?p=169963 You can see less fingers / tabs on the rear of 1 cap here and the valve hole alignment.
  7. That price is about right for me.
  8. So there should be a 71B box left over (240K) that is of no use to me. Feel free to make me an offer on it if it's what you need and you're looking to get Les building it etc..
  9. Not trying to step on any toes... I'll have to talk to Lurch to see what the situation is and how many Peso's I owe them and what parts are left over.
  10. Got a 240K box (71B) with Les Collins that has come out of my 240z. Which I won't need once they are done with it.
  11. Hagerty has "Barn Find Hunter".
  12. New series on "barn finds".
  13. I've heard similar stories in Melbourne from Lindsay Drife re: Wayne Couacaud. He began his career working for the Rolls Royce driving, eccentric, wealthy racing driver "Rocker Box" John Roxborough's Datsun dealership in South Melbourne. His first job there was to clear out all the old junk in a storeroom. (It was crammed with Datsun genuine factory racing parts - all off the planet priceless today).
  14. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/berwick/auto-body-parts/datsun-240z-260z-bonnet/1146800490 3 rough looking bonnets.
  15. Edit, sorry I was just repeating myself in this post. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/5859-sumitomo-mk-63-calipers-brake-pads-and-caliper-rebuild-kits-now-avail/?p=170120
  16. Pretty cool.
  17. By the way there is 2 versions of these D caps, the earlier style have less tabs on the rear and the valve hole aligns with 1 of the spokes. The later version have more tabs and the valve hole is offset to the spokes. (That's the 1 pictured above and in the eBay auction). Only Dirk Dickler (Sticklers) like me would notice.
  18. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SET-of-4-RARE-Nissan-DATSUN-240z-FAIRLADY-Hubcaps-70s-Vintage-for-restore-/162502091691 I suggest you buy them, not getting easier to find or cheaper...
  19. Just found 1 of the careful previous owners! https://www.facebook.com/carbonsignal1/videos/1306766566039126/?hc_ref=NEWSFEED
  20. More mutterings around the vintage parts program. https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2017/05/03/nismo-hints-at-offering-reproduction-parts-for-all-vintage-nissans/?refer=news
  21. Thanks mate, I'll send you a PM.
  22. Yeah the magnet trick is useful but not always perfect, it might not tell you about smaller amounts of filler just larger chunks. I look for shut lines, trueness of a panel, spot welds still in the right places, original paint (where possible) evidence of bubbling paint or poor paint finishes meaning issues with the paint job. It looks relatively honest in the photos but photos make cars look better than they are.
  23. For $2k it looks like a very reasonable buy, however rust is the biggest issue and it will depends if the rust is mostly in removable panels or in structural parts of the car. 280zx's have been slowly increasing in value but now getting harder to find donor cars as many have left the roads and been crushed by now. Also a lot of them gave up their running gear for earlier S30Z's. This car has at least had 1 repaint (not sure how long ago?) so may be something to watch for in terms of botched up bodywork. I would try and get a look under it to see how rotten it is in the floors, rails, dog legs etc..
  24. A related video of Porsche factory restoring #57.
  25. Early 911 video showing the excitement of finding that 'barn find'. Car # is 113.
