I thought it was HS30-00318 which would be a 1970.

No I don't, but I know someone who might have 1 (in Australia) I can use to measure up. They are mega expensive now, like insane expensive. There is also a white version with a military canon style plug that was the works part originally used on the likes of the Rally Cars (I got all this info from Alan btw). The yellow/orange box came later. I've never seen a photo of the white box (only photo I have I believe is the 1 attached). To give you some frame of reference here is a pic on the transmission tunnel of a genuine PZR with an orange box! So I'd imagine you might be able to tuck an MSD unit into it...

To be honest I hadn't really intended to produce them for sale. I wasn't sure if there would be demand from enough individuals, it seems the largest market in North America (in terms of S30Zs) have little interest in some of the old factory parts. Much more interested in the latest hipster wheels and body kits. But like the gearknob inserts I may be surprised? I am not sure if I plan to put a 100L tank in, so much as I was interested in reproducing some of the rare gauge sets I see above just for the challenge and fun of it. It's a good way to re-learn Adobe Illustrator since it's been a few years since I last touched it. You could always put modern electrics behind the face if that's your thing and you want it to be more accurate? Personally I want to keep the original inaccurate stuff at this stage. A place for everything, everything in its place. . Here's a couple more rare gauges. Thanks to Alan Thomas and his PS30-SB build thread.

@Rickers, yeah that's pretty rotten, someone has had got at repairing it before and not really done the best job. Anything can be fixed and it looks like the top half is worse than the bottom but would be a bit of fiddling about... @Ledge, don't suppose you have any photos of the motorsport part or work required to fit it? The ones I got from Canada look like they could use a bit of English wheeling and may need a bit of trimming. Only other difference is the fact that gauge of steel is a bit thicker.

Cars For Sale (3rd Party Sites) Ebay, Carsales etc..

Matt Drago's old car. http://240z.drago.com.au/ It wasn't that bad before restoration, so at the current price is actually fair I think. It's quite original. Paint finish won't rock your socks off, but it was restored before these cars really appreciated in value. -

Depends on which 300zx also, Z31's have gotta be hard to keep on the road now. I was in Caulfield at the start of the year when I saw a rough and ready "California" bodied Z31 drive past me. I was surprised it wasn't on fire.

This is awesome news if it's legit. Best known? Really? Hmmmmmmm.... I'd say the early S30Z is the most legendary but of course I'm biased.

Long term thinking, I was going to get mine recalibrated to suit the ignition system I use. I would like to reproduce the yellow box (which is part of the Sports Option CDI ignition system). Not sure how I'll do that yet, but seeing what Ron did with the Oscillator box for the Rally Clocks gave me some motivation. At this stage I'm just trying to do the designs, there is quite a few different gauges that interest me (attached some examples) not to mention the PS30-SB ones like the 100L fuel tank and metric gauge oil pressure etc.. Worrying about accuracy at this stage is not really on my radar. I will be happy enough if the gauges turn out looking good.

Yes it is, I just added in the needles for effect.

Thread revival but I've been working away on this, want to get some samples silk screen printed locally if I can and see how they turn out. Sports Option Catalog Tach, usually combined with CDI ignition.
-
Works Tach..very rare... Just a start... going to take some work to get this 1 right.. The Works team rally cars had some cool and unique gauges I've never seen on other S30Z's. *Edit update, a bit closer now. When the type face is correct I think it will look far nicer! I should probably start a new thread for gauge design? Or add to this thread? http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/6719-factory-10000rpm-tachometer/

Just the right amount of patina and looks like little rust. Should be a fun project.

Hey Rick, How bad is your panel at the moment? It might be worth repairing what you've got? I also think it's not that complex a panel and might be cheaper / easier to find someone who can fabricate 1 for your car? I got a couple from ZeddFindings in Canada and I may or may not use it (depends what my tafe teacher suggests). I almost reckon I could patch the stock 1 up. But I'll have to remove it from the car first.

More progress on Rally Clock face, but had to use a substitute typeface. Someone suggested Churchward 69. It's very close in terms of design aesthetic, but only problem is like any good typeface has a cost associated with it. If for any reason someone has a copy of this typeface please let me know? I may have to fork out for it, but not 100% sure it's "exactly" spot on yet.. On it's own. Comparison with original.

Another quick bump, want to start organising payments soon.

The Ebay Thread #2 - Post Ebay Parts Here!

I've noticed MK63's are being reproduced also, just waiting for Mikuni/Solex carbs to get reproductions made. Great for spare parts. -
Long term project here, but trying to reproduce the Rally Clock face. Once I get this right I'll move onto some other gauges I've been wanting to do (mostly ones only found in works rally cars). I can't for the life of me determine the typeface used by Nissan in the 70s for early S30Z gauges. Ticketbook Poster Sans Steelfish Album Cover JNL Ristretto Pro As a side note I believe Nissan used "microgramma" in the 80s and appears to be used for "SEIKO".

Let's see how it drives , I have 2 other 240z's with a 71A box. But I may at some point revert this car back to a 71A box. The later extension housing is obviously not quite OEM, but I prefer this to a regular 71B box with the gear stick hole being in the wrong place for it.
-
Gonna have to get that gear stick chrome plated at some point.

I had it down as HS30 00577 and engine number: L24-027479* so a 71 with 71A gearbox and just missed out on the vents in hatch etc.. Engine number appears to be in correct range for build date* etc.. So most likely numbers matching car. It appears original colour was 903 Blue (nice colour). https://goo.gl/photos/cbdVuSXmEg2rbX3r6 *HS30 00593 do you recall this car? https://goo.gl/photos/DUNCBTnv9zLLbVyPA Her original heart was: L24-028455 -
My 73 240z previously registered on plates FDR-937 in Victoria. Original Engine Number is: L24-175807

From the album: HS30 102895
Still miss this car, what a cracker. Very original. -
Someone on here posted a topic showing a replacement material they found. I can't recall who it was now.

Airbox looked good, would love to see more photos of it when buyer receives it?
