77260Z Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Much better without the nudge bar, cleans up the front end a lot. Quote
Scoota G Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 That's the ticket. Can i have the nudge bar? I need to make a safety rail for a trapdoor (yes i am serious) Quote
boyblunda Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Linton I can see why people had them fitted to an S30 (car parks, tight garage spaces) but they really did nothing to add to the looks or line of the car. The period accessory of the nudge bar was fitted to prevent damage to the vehicle and can always be removed for a presentation of the vehicle in its intended form - but I can see why owners would retain this easily removable feature on their car. I think it boils down the choice of the owner. I personally prefer the original look. Really nice pics. Congratulations on what you have done with this car - it is a beauty. FWIW Dave Quote
CroS13 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 just read through the whole thread, looking great man! i am impressed with the interior, do you have a final photo of the seats installed in the car? i saw the rear seat in, looks the goods, but didn't see a photo with front seats in the car. Quote
Linton Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 Here you go buddy thanks for your kind words Scoota Give me a call later I don't think it will go back on but I have drilled holes in the spoiler so I want to make sure you can have first dibs that's for sure Linton Quote
Riceburner Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Looks flawless inside and out Linton! For the dented panels could it be fixed with paintless dent removal? My brothers Pajero got hammered in a hail storm, it was fixed this way under insurance and it looks perfect. 'Whittie' also had this done to his immaculate 260Z, check the build thread. Quote
Linton Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 thanks Gareth, no I don't think it can be done both dents are on the fold line I bought a cheap sucker for dent removal from sooper cheap but it wont stick, its not flat enough so I am not going to worry about it, I knocked them out a bit with out making them worse. Well it looks like winter has finally arrived bloody cold and wet again, so soon to change the engine and paint the engine bay, Quote
peter t Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Nice ride M8. Now I can see why my jack won't fit. I have a scissor type that doesn't fit on the back floor under the thingy for it. Now I have to start looking for a good old wind up type. Quote
Linton Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 Well as I had hoped over winter, I have been working on my Z. I have fitted my spare motor, Scoota has supplied a shift kit for the Auto thanks mate which I have now fitted also I cleaned up and painted the engine bay which I was glad to get done. Its is not running yet due to the efi but I am slowly getting on top of that , so here are some piccies for you, I used a different brand of paint it was cheaper but still 2pak. there is a slight difference in the colour but overall it looks good. Quote
Riceburner Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Check out that shine, nice! The chassis, rails, rad support look in really good condition after sanding back prior to paint. Quote
Linton Posted September 2, 2013 Author Posted September 2, 2013 Well after 5 days of trying to get the EFI going we finally have lift off, my engine is running I was starting to think I would be going back to carbies by the end of the week. I may need one replacement injector, it has a slight miss on number 1, other than that, it is running very well. I need to recheck the valves first. I think it basically came down to a broken kickdown switch wire in the cabin which stopped the injectors working. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted September 2, 2013 Moderators Posted September 2, 2013 Good to hear it's running... never thought a kickdown switch could be capable of that? Quote
Linton Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 Yeah I am not sure Dimitri, probably just coincidence when I finish the installation I am going to unplug the switch and see what happens, I ran the computer wires into the cabin today that was a nice job Quote
Linton Posted September 15, 2013 Author Posted September 15, 2013 well I can confirm the engine not running had absolutely nothing to do with the broken kick down switch wire, I think it just decided to start working, I took the car for a 200km trip on friday and it never missed a beat. I do need to replace the 280zx fast idle air valve if anybody has a spare, the fuel economy was 10.2L/100km at 100KPH Quote
DreamZproject Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Jeepers thats good! That's close to what I'm getting out of my 2L MR2!I think it does need a bit of a tune up though... Quote
Linton Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 So after some 15 hrs in the car last weekend to attend the Vic BBQ which was an absolute great day out, thanks to every one especially Gordon and His Family for the wonderful venue. My crook back could not have been worse, by the time I got home I was feeling quite poorly so out with the old and in with the new test fitted and feel good, so I will order some new covers from Kahlid. The seats are from a z32 300zx RH is full electric, a bit of mucking around but they are most comfortable I will keep the old ones if I ever sell it they can go with it. Cheers Quote
Linton Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 My z was pretty lonely here today, found a Mazda Capella and that was it for Japanese cars, but all in all a lot of very nice cars and rods Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 12, 2014 Moderators Posted January 12, 2014 Good to see some curves in amongst plain straight lines...hehe Quote
Riceburner Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 At least there was two people there with good taste How are you finding the new seats? Quote
Linton Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 they are comfortable but also they are too high, so I think they will not be staying in the car, pass seat is good the drivers seat is electric adds to the height my right leg cramped up coming home from Melbourne last week on the freeway OMG!! that was fun thought we were going to be squashed in the emergency lane. Cathie had to take over, the very front of the seat seems to dig in under my thighs and restrict something blood flow maybe. I cant adjust it out cause my head hits the roof when I lift the rear of the seat to compensate. I am going to pull the 260 seats apart and muck around abit with foam and refit them. Quote
Linton Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 so I ordered new seat foams from the states and only one turned up, very annoyed now in the claims process etc. trying to sort it out. I have redone the drivers seat, when the passenger seat is done I will stick up some photo's, I have also an L28 Block which I am rebuilding for a motor swap later on, just had a new sleeve fitted to the block I will pick it up next week but for now here it is at the latest car run Quote
Linton Posted November 24, 2014 Author Posted November 24, 2014 Not a lot been happening lately after some 3 months of waiting for my delivery from the states, today I replaced the seat foams in the passenger seat and it feels great, I was going to turbo the car but I have now decided not to as I don't drive it enough to warrant the extra cost, I am just going to fit the L28 with injection that should give it a lift. We have cars n Coffee here on Friday nights during daylight savings, must say its nice everyone rocking up in what ever they have, I actually won a bottle of McGuire polish bit of a laugh, no one looks at my Z much they only seem to be interested in dare I say it holdens and fords. oh well. Merry Xmas to you all. Linton & Cathie Quote
oldmates260z Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Its hard to get the time for such interests, I have only driven mine 3 times in the last 6 months. Keen to see your seats I have the leather covers in the garage, the 260 seats out in the shed and I just have to get the someone to do the foams and fit (I am not as good as you on fitting them) Merry Xmas to you too.
