C.A.R. Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 Ash, gimme a yell on what detailed pics you need Well I've only ever seen 2 other early Zeds in this colour, so maybe it is? Quote
Toecutter Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Ah cool to see this thread updated. The sooner you finish her off the better! Sulio Quote
lightmaster240z Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Sulio z are like good wine. neather should be rushed. LURCH Whats the hold up this should have been back on the road by now : Quote
Toecutter Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 haha... alcoholics don't savour Bruce...I believe some zedaholics suffer from the same symptoms, like me! Sulio Quote
stevo_gj Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I won a set of 260Z SU's (the good ones) off evilBay! (The Zed didn't come with carbys). I didn't realise the 260z ever had anything but the crappy flat tops?! Quote
zr240 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Yer good point what are the good 260z carbs??? Ash Quote
chris240 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 the good 260 carbs are the roundtops from a 240 ! I could have given you my old ones Lurch Quote
C.A.R. Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 Ah nerts! Would have saved me $175 Chris Don't ask, don't receive I guess... I'll get a pic of them & post up later. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted March 13, 2009 Moderators Posted March 13, 2009 the good 260 carbs are the roundtops from a 240 ! I could have given you my old ones Lurch Oh, I'm actually after a set! When the RB is removed, I have a L24 but with no carbs dammit! Would you want to sell? excuse the hijack... Quote
Zedback Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I'm now knee deep in repairing the PS door... Lurch, what are you fixing on the door, I'm doing a pair of mine (roughly) at the moment. Would prefer to replace the skins on both, but for now I'm just patching the patches. Quote
C.A.R. Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 Zedback, the orig. door skin is basically rusted out along the bottom & the condition of the frame had me concerned. I have a brand new (apprears to be Gen. Nissan!) door skin that I'll be fitting BTW, here is the tool I made that is used to peel back the door skin lip from the frame: Quote
MickyG Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 wow rare colour?........ Mine was the same cack gold originally - you can see the original colour through the cracks in the metallic grey previous owner sprayed straight over the top.... Lurch is right, you don't see this colour much any more. It's ugly so everyone resprays ASAP. Quote
Zedback Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 BTW, here is the tool I made that is used to peel back the door skin lip from the frame Thanks, will be making one of them when I do the door skins. Looking forward to your tutorial. Quote
chris240 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Lurch, do not change paint colour ....in my humble opinion, I love the colour, its very rare and original..would look a million bucks with no ZG flares but some nice otomotto "Benzed specials" and some re-chromed bumpers. Quote
zzzzed Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 i agree that colour would look nice all glossed up and some nice rims to suit Quote
C.A.R. Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 Chris I'm VERY tempted not to change the colour. It's never been resprayed either & the paint is in pretty good nick. I was origanally going to paint it a different, very bright colour, but I think with a black rear 'spook', black Fairlady side strips & maybe some black or body colour bumpers* & the Rota's, it'll look pretty good... *I don't have any bumpers for it. Quote
C.A.R. Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 Well I've made a rare mistake... The SU's I bought are REAL SU's - 'Made in Birmingham'! They are probably off a Triumph or Ovlov. Nevermind, they fit & they work! Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted March 15, 2009 Moderators Posted March 15, 2009 There used to be a member in the NDSOC with a 260 exactly like yours with the same colour and I remember when he had the body work done and resprayed the same colour it looked excellent! You may have heard of him, Steve Lamb. Has a nice L28 with triple Webers etc.. Used to do the odd MSCA event but haven't seen him for almost 10 years! I'd stick with the original colour; if I knew mine, I'd repaint my car instantly! I'm still trying to find out what it was... Quote
reverendzed Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I reckon it will look tops when it is all one highly polished color!...anyhow with lurch behind the wheel it will all be just a blur as it screams by! rev. Quote
zzzzed Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 can you let us know how the english su's perform when you get to take it for a run. The reson i ask is i also have a set and i tossing up on weather i should try them on the 260z or go for the round to hitachi carbs, I have a set of each but have been told to go the hitachis as they are a better carby cheers mick Quote
C.A.R. Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 Yeah I'd head of Steve Lamb - I think he may have been a member on here ages ago... I do remember his Zed too - I think the last time I saw it at the Island he'd converted it to EFi & used the Webers as the throttle boddies! Mick, the Japs always improve on things the Poms design so I'd stick the round top Hitachi's on Quote
sco_aus Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 You should paint it hot pink and put chromies on it. But seriously, I reckon you should paint it Silver and change your name to Scott. That would be totally original and would make you a hardcore legend and go down in the history books next to Peter Brock and Ayerton Senna. Quote
C.A.R. Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 Smartarse! Least I'm not following the pack & fitting flares... Quote
sco_aus Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Hey man I was paying myself out lol. They will serve a purpose, like every other mod done to my car (except the black bonnet, I just like that). Quote
