Now that we are on the new software I'm going to work on creating a database / registry for S30z's.

Great news, will it include photos ?

The green car looks very familiar!!

This car is now for sale for the third time in 2 months!

First time - advertised for $30,000 (Lithgow NSW)

Second time - advertised for $38,000 - price on ad changed to $45,000 after sale completed (Victoria)

This (third) time - Price On Application (North Sydney) - I wonder what it will sell for this time.

$73,000

Hi Curtis,

Can we assume that you are talking about the green 1971 240Z (aka HS30-00675) at the Classic Throttle Shop?

If you are, I kind of hope the Lithgow seller doesn't find out.

I heard a previous owner was looking to buy it back and was mortified to find out it had gone to Victoria, think he'll be mortified all over again if he knew the current asking price.

*Edit asking price is on the website, $72,995

As a general rule of thumb, you can buy cars at The Throttle Shop at 3/4 their asking price, and, if they eventually go to auction they fetch about 1/2.

Give it a couple of years...at this rate anyhow.

Quite a well written ad too, apart from the old "Designed by Albrecht Goetz" furphy.

Also sounds like they might be confusing the BRE Peter Brock with the Australian Peter Brock?

Well spotted Brent, I missed that part -

"...it wasn't long before the 240Z went racing. And that's exactly what Legendary Australian racer Peter Brock did so successfully in the 1970's, devouring Toyota's, BMW's and Triumphs in U.S club racing."  :o

Clearly have no idea what they are on about. Sad but how you can mix up Peter Brock like that well... Clearly they just copy / paste nonsense.

Cheap.

Note: Speedo starts at 20 km/h on this 260z. There was a discussion on another forum thread about it.

Datsun 260Z 2+2 with an R34 Skyline RB25DET NEO
$9,500.00 Negotiable
Redland Bay, QLD

Very sad to say that im selling my Datsun 260Z 2+2 with an R34 Skyline RB25DET. Due to University getting the better of me at times and need to pick my marks back up. The whole undercarriage was sprayed in thick Tar Based sound deadener.
Car is 99% rust free and 99% ready for paint. The whole car was taken to the panel beaters, sanded back and sprayed in primer ready for paint.

Included in sale:
Rolling shell in primer
Half roll cage specifically designed for street use
All interior including rear seats, but no front seats
R34 Neo RB25DET with metal head gasket and ARP head studs, plus after market upgraded turbo
R34 5 Speed gearbox
Exedy Twin plate racing clutch
Link ECU and 2 Neo RB25DET Looms
880cc Nismo injectors and 2 no name fuel rails
Custom sump for 260Z⁄RB25 conversion, custom RB25 engine mounts, custom RB25 Gearbox mounts and custom accelerator cable
Custom RBS30 QLD Number Plates
Genuine ROTA 17inch 8.5 and 9.5 Rims
Aftermarket Fibreglass Flares
Part Air Conditioning System

At this stage the whole project has cost me over $13500.... What has to be done to complete the car is paint job, attach a tail shaft to the diff, fix one hole behind the drivers seat, put the interior back in, fit the loom and eclectics, fit exhaust, piping and intercooler. There is quite a lot to do but once complete will be a great vintage car. Any questions please ask... Viewings are welcome...

So who did design the S30 bdy?
It wont have been a single person, but a team f designers, led by a chief, as per usual with manufacturers.
That Getman bloke was hired by Nissan, for a time.

Well that made me do some Googling!

I found a 2002 discussion between HS30-H, kats, our very own Gav240z and others on classiczcars.com

http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/3866-lhd-240z-in-1969-tokyo-auto-show/

The discussion is mainly about whether the S30 was primarily designed as a LHD car for the US market - or RHD for the domestic Japanese market. HS30-H and kats do, however, agree that the design team was led by a Japanese gentleman by the name of Mr Matsuo.

From what I have read, Goertz was involved in the early design stage, but left Nissan well before the design was progressed. The whole topic has been debated over and over, and I am quite prepared to be admonished by one or more of the acknowledged experts.
