dat240z Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 This thing will be brutal, possibly too much so. http://www.speedhunters.com/2017/10/dimmack-datsun-gtz-build/ Quote
JDM-TOY Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 All I'm going to say is WTF. My balls tingled at the thought of the Gforce. Enjoy: The Greatest Build You’ve Never Heard About...... http://www.speedhunters.com/2017/10/dimmack-datsun-gtz-build/ Quote

JDM-TOY Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 Thanks Gav Although this build is one of every man's dream my only concern is the amount of power going through that body. My experience with 70's Japanese cars is that the body's not made for such power. I can see the extent of stuffiness that could be brought by the roll cage and chassis modifications but still not convinced. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted October 10, 2017 Administrators Posted October 10, 2017 Whilst I'm sure it will score many Internet points, this kind of build isn't really my thing.. I much prefer period correct stuff these days. I think there is such a thing as too much power. This car will be great for Red Bull commercials and the like, but for me it's all about the character of the original car. I can't see this car being anything like the original S30Z once done. To each their own of course. JDM-TOY, scott and CBR Jeff 3 Quote

Looking at the extent of that cage, I think it is now basically a tube frame chassis, wearing a Z dress... JDM-TOY 1 Quote
PZG302 Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Pretty much as above. Chassis will be very stiff and a nice thing to drive in terms of set up. Also having a workshop like Matt Stone racing behind you will make the car a very very very good thing to drive. I'm sure it will surprise more than a few people when it hits the track. Just a pity it is being built for drift rather than cutting laps, but it would be pretty competent in going fast in a straight line with a few set up changes. Quote
daretobedifferent Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 I quite like these builds, its pretty much a mental car with a Z body. Whilst it won't feel like a real Z anymore, its definitely going to be pretty awesome Quote
JDM-TOY Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Yeh look its definitely going to be a monster no doubt and who wouldn't want to own something like this. I think I'm growing old like our Z's and find my bones can't handle all the power lol. As nice as it is for me it's period correct with small but tasteful mods. Can't wait to see it at a time attack or something. Quote
PZG302 Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 It's being set up for drifting, so as some would think, maybe a bit of a waste, but the tyre shredding power will be useful in that application. In saying that, with the hardware mentioned in the story it should be reasonable around a track if you were chasing a time. Quote

Gav, You are just getting old For me I like everything (almost): original resto, period correct resto, restomod, crazy race car builds. This too me is better than putting a push-rod V8 into the Z, at least it will have a Datsun/Nissan heart. gav240z 1 Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted October 14, 2017 Administrators Posted October 14, 2017 The wastegate screamer pipes out the inspection flaps is funny. The front grille looks like the star road version. Quote
