PerZee Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Some scumbag stole my 71 from my driveway overnight. White, large front spoiler, jellybean-style rims, MX5 seats, rego XEG935. Will post a photo tonight but hoping the Z community can keep an eye out for the car or bits of it. Quote
Scoota G Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Jeepers another one. Get pics up ASAP. Not sure why they are going after these vehicles as parts are very easy to identify and hard to offload without someone knowing. Mark Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 11, 2014 Administrators Posted February 11, 2014 The same thing happened on FDRX7.com recently a long list of RX-7s were being stolen 1 after the other. I'm not sure what the game is here, but my fear is that the car are not being sold locally or stripped for parts to be sold locally, but actually being exported out of the country! I really hope it shows up, I would be very sad to see it trashed or burnt out. Any car stolen is a PITA but replacing a classic 40 year old car is not easy to do. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 11, 2014 Administrators Posted February 11, 2014 Please send us some photos of what the car looks like so we can share this and hopefully track it down. Quote
George Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Really sorry to hear it. Have posted on Facebook. Photos ASAP as Mark mentioned. Good luck Quote
Roberto Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Sickening! I will keep my eyes peeled. Quote
Nav Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 What suburb ? Let's spread the word and get this car back to its owner Quote
PerZee Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 Thanks everyone. Will get a photo up ASAP. Nav, was stolen from Dulwich. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted February 12, 2014 Moderators Posted February 12, 2014 So sorry to hear this There is way to much of this going on right now, like Gav I am curious as to how people plan on moving these on ? I suppose we all just have to question the source of any parts we see offered for sale. Details, and ideally photos, of anything that is unique about your Z or fittings will help. I hope it turns up. Moderators Zedman240® Posted February 12, 2014 Moderators Posted February 12, 2014 I have a feeling they are headed overseas... Quote
PerZee Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 Photos attached. Car was my daily driver for years so nothing too special from a mods perspective: Engine: 2.8 block running standard SUs and Petronix ignition Interior: Restored, crack-free dash; reskinned door panels; MX5 seats w speakers in the headrests Suspension: In the last 18 months all bushes replaced with Nolathane and struts replaced - still look brand new. Moderators Zedman240® Posted February 12, 2014 Moderators Posted February 12, 2014 Are there any places nearby with CCTV overlooking roads that go near were you live? You might be lucky if they caught something? Quote
DreamZproject Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Wow. When I get up to electronics I'll definitely be sinking a few hundred into security! Quote

Nav Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 @ PerZee Have you contacted the wreckers like Adelaide Z Cars or Grand Auto. Just in case parts start to surface ? I'm in Unley BTW Quote
bolt7484 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 So sorry mate. It would not be too hard to recognise in Adelaide. Will keep an eye out. Maybe a joyrider has got it and dumped her in the sticks.. they may not have burnt her due to the high fire risk at the moment. Just looking for a positive. Fingers crossed Quote

dazzed Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Im really sorry to hear this has occured when you came out in the morning you must have had a heart attack to see it missing. Im sure it will be recovered as these cars are to obviouse in everyway to disclose without notice , and all zed owners should make sure their pride and joys are securely placed as it is apparent many classic cars are now becoming targets of unwanted prey. Ears an eyes open wide for your zed here in melbourne. Quote
PerZee Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 Still no joy but photos circulating through social media and have some friends at SAPOL keeping an eye out. 36 hours in so not feeling particularly optimistic at present. Just remembered further "identifying" bits; I'd covered the rear deck, foot wells and transmission tunnel in Dynamat some time ago. Would be an absolute bitch to remove. Quote
