George Posted December 4, 2015 Author Posted December 4, 2015 Did you get any of Vaughens or Greg "Balls" Williams car. No, I didn't get a chance to - too busy chatting away. Both exceptional cars though and I'd be ecstatic to end up with something remotely close to them. Quote
Ledge Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Your car will be show quality from us. Its the re assembly that will make or brake it Quote
George Posted December 4, 2015 Author Posted December 4, 2015 Of course, it's the bit I'm responsible for I was referring to. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted February 5, 2016 Moderators Posted February 5, 2016 Time for another update George ? Quote
George Posted February 5, 2016 Author Posted February 5, 2016 Reached a significant milestone this week Pete... Paul has all but completed the rust repairs. There are a few small holes which can't be reached until the car is taken off the chassis bench but otherwise we are on to panel and gap work. gav240z, andyk_79, HS30-H and 3 others 6 Quote
Sirpent Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 (edited) As 007 would have said to 00019........................."Very Shecksy Money Penny" P.S. Are they 2 S30 1/4 panels hanging on the wall in the background? Edited February 5, 2016 by Sirpent Quote
mossy Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Considering how this car after you stripped it down, I'm very impressed, well done George and Paul! Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted April 5, 2016 Administrators Posted April 5, 2016 Just an FYI George whilst I remember but cross checking your engine no. with other North American cars and their build dates suggests #19 was built around May or June 1970.Where as I think #150 was built around July / September 1970. But i will continue to compile the data . George 1 Quote

Your guess is as accurate as any I've come across. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 7, 2016 Administrators Posted April 7, 2016 George, I think those parts look pretty good and not a bad price when you consider the prices of individual parts that have been re plated and are for sale on eBay! Relatively small investment considering how much they will enhance your restoration . If you find your happy with the end result ,I will be sending some parts there myself. Also,I have found a place in Sydney that will re chrome the plastic parts on the Z's and have my wheel centre caps and 260 taillight bezels there ($30 per cap and $80 per bezel, again pretty reasonable considering how much ones on eBay are) so if they come back to a suitable standard ,could be of interest to others here! I was just looking at George's build thread again because I was trying to remember who he got his plating done through. I'm wondering how you went with the vacuum chrome plating for your plastic parts? Did they turn out ok? Quote
mossy Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Don't know if George used these guys or not but I used them for my tail light trim and they came out mint. http://www.aclassmetal.com.au/ gav240z 1 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 7, 2016 Administrators Posted April 7, 2016 Thanks Mark, Ledge mentioned it earlier in the thread also. I believe they are based in South Australia. I worry about sending a batch of parts via post interstate because if anything got lost (and let's face it courier's do some pretty creative stuff) it would be a massive PITA to locate all the bits and pieces again. mossy 1 Quote
George Posted May 28, 2016 Author Posted May 28, 2016 I sent my harnesses in to Vintage Wiring almost two years ago. They were returned this week and the wait and price was worth it. Hopefully it won't take me two years to install them but I wouldn't be surprised based on the progress of this build. Below are some photos showing the old harnesses, new ones, tags, new connectors and reconditioned components. mspecr 1 Quote

HS30-H Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 (edited) For what it's worth, here is the date stamp on the dash harness. Your guess is as accurate as any I've come across. Sorry to be a bit late here (didn't see this photo until just now) but the letter 'G' on that harness section label is the MONTH letter, where 'A' = January, 'B' = February and so on. So 'G 70' indicates July 1970. Edited May 28, 2016 by HS30-H gav240z 1 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted May 28, 2016 Administrators Posted May 28, 2016 That seems to align with what I've crossed referenced on engine numbers with US market manufactured cars. Unfortunately I still haven't been able to crack the stampings on the Jeco clocks. Refer here. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13397-for-sale-working-240z-clocks/ Quote

Try and make sense of that... Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted May 29, 2016 Administrators Posted May 29, 2016 The first part 24012-E4100 is the part no. G 69 11. I dunno could it be July 1969? Quote
HS30-H Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 We have to be careful with stuff like this, as the different departments within the Nissan group and outside suppliers certainly had different dating systems and QC stamps. It can get confusing. The letter 'G' should - logically - stand for the month, and the number after the year identifier should - logically - be the day? If the numbers never went higher than 12 they could be month, so I'm going to have a look around on my cars and see what I can find. I have two 1970-build cars that should be good candidates for cross-referencing. I'm getting too old to trust my memory...! Quote
George Posted May 29, 2016 Author Posted May 29, 2016 The first part 24012-E4100 is the part no. G 69 11. I dunno could it be July 1969? No, I meant try to make sense of why the front harness is dated July 1970 and the body one is dated July 1969. Just like the transition of early parts to later, there really is no sense to it and no point in trying to explain what happened over 45 years ago. Quote
