George Posted February 19, 2015 Author Posted February 19, 2015 Chassis numbers argument aside, buying a clean shell. Every day of the week. Quote
vorn70 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 It's all forward now mate. As you said now you know the car inside and out, no more surprises. We will all be following the progress that you and Paul will make over the next few months. Quote
acf321 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 OH GEORGE !!!!!!!!!!!!! That is pretty bad buddy. It brings back memories and fear. My advise would be to get some primer or similar on that raw steel, as it'll take time to get those holes fixed. My Hornet was like that, but fortunately not as bad. Good luck, happy to help if I can. Cheers Adam Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 22, 2015 Administrators Posted February 22, 2015 By the way mate, is that previous accident repair work I see there? Just above where the washer bottle sits? Quote
PeterAllen Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Congratulations George, you now know exactly where you're at. There is nothing there that can't be done, and done well. Quote
George Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 Gav, there is evidence of previous repair - Paul is all over it. The car will go on a jig to get straightened out. It's isolated to the front right but best to check it out and get it straightened properly. Primer: Quote
PeterAllen Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Got some parts plated. Overall happy with the results although some need to go back for a second attempt. I've just had my latches done but as I'm not doing an OEM resto I went for the 'silver/aluminium' finish rather than the 'gold'. Just to show a comparison. Either way the outcomes are great. Amazing that you can leave them fully assembled during the process with the springs, plastic clips and rubber stopper all attached. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted May 14, 2015 Administrators Posted May 14, 2015 Both finishes look great, on the door catch that is more like the correct colour anyway. By the way George found you another project if you're interested? If you want to bid here is the ink http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/197785109 Quote
PeterAllen Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 My money is on George having the last laugh... Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted May 14, 2015 Administrators Posted May 14, 2015 My money is on George having the last laugh... Oh I don't doubt it, I'm just having a bit of fun at George's expense . We now know what a car that's been sitting outdoors looks like once it's back from the blaster. So seeing an S30z like that I think back to the photos in this thread. Quote
peter t Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 George you must have one big mother f@@@er wallet. ;D Quote
74zzz Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Even with the bracing, how is this thing staying together? You are a braver and possibly more cash flushed than I'll ever be haha. watching this build will be like watching the creation of a patchwork quilt. Quote

George Posted July 13, 2015 Author Posted July 13, 2015 Hey Pete, Nothing of real note to report. Paul is chipping away at it and I'm working on some other projects around the house so haven't done anything with the car. Quote

Hi George, Understand about projects around the house, they seem to chew up huge amounts of time and like cars, are never finished. Cheers PB Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted July 23, 2015 Moderators Posted July 23, 2015 Thanks for the update George. The pictures have me somewhat in shock and like Richard, lost for words Quote
