My apprentice bought a EP3 civic from them, i went with him there, he knew the owner, we all actually spoke at length about dodgy dealers and winding back odometers with the owner mentioning edward lees. Guess what, they got done for the same thing, closed business, opened again trading under team wyld speed or something in wetherill park. this "new" shop does things on a smaller scale, imports privatly i think, sells a few off on the side, its more of a parts importing place now but same story, they close one down, they open up again.

awesome work as usual, its all down hill once it gets in paint so im told. Any particular reason you decided to use Nutserts instead of welding a nut to the back of the sheet metal before paint? Id be afraid that if i had painted the body the nut insert could crack the paint around its hole after you crimp it down, and it could rust there, in saying that ive only installed them into 3mm plate and not sheet metal. trying to think which way to go for flares if i put them on my bus Cant wait to see this thing in the flesh once it comes north. If you plan on taking the car back to bare metal and starting fresh anyway, then the things you were worried about with the other cars you looked at shouldn't even matter. I believe you wont find what you are after for 10k. its either double your budget to get something decent to start with, (and it will most likely still have rust and need some work) Or buy a car for sub 10k, get it sandblasted to see what your left with, then cry into your cereal every morning as you pour a lot of your time or money into getting the bodywork up to scratch like most of us do. By the sounds of it, a car you are after comes up maybe 3-4 times per year, and when it does you have to pull the trigger without hesitation, because it will be gone, sometimes within a day or even a few hours. As for missing out on a car residing in a different state, im going to assume it was that gold one for sale in QLD last week for 7k, the new owner started a build thread on here, its not as good as it looked in the photos, that car will need some serious dollars pumped into bodywork to get up to scratch. My advice, for what it seems you want, push your limit to 20k for a decent starting point. Unfortunately the zeds are in a price bubble, they have doubled in value in the last 5-10 years. Rudi.

Hey buddy whats your budget for a car? Get used to looking at cars that need alot of work. Sounds like your looking at the lower end of the price spectrum if your not happy with what your seeing. I was once told forget about any engine swaps, aftermarket parts, fancy interior or paint jobs, the value of a zed is determined by how much rust it has. Period, and it rings 100% true. The car was priced accordingly, cheap for a reason. The bloke i bought my car off said something which rings true, forget about what parts it has, its value is determined by rust. If you did indeed get it for 4k, good work! Would have been awesome to get it in a original condition without being filled with bog though. Time to strip her down and send it to a sandblaster! looking forward to the build Rudi.

UPDATE 7.7.15 - Driver quarter panel repaired, holes shaved! Been a busy beaver in the garage the last month in spite of the frigid weather, i just close the roller door, put on the heater and hammer away! So first i cut out all this crap! You can see there was a previous repair made to the lower quarter, which actually wasn't half bad, but it wasn't rust treated.... so guess what happened..... Got Locky's panel, and with a bit of fettling and hammering i welded it in, you can see the wheel arch was abit wonky, my doing, but i have since fixed it: Then i moved to the rear corner where i had more rust, and made a patch, this was version 1.0 which was a failure due to not having the correct tools to form the corner. I wasn't happy with it, so i ended up cutting it out, going and buying a hammer and dolly kit for $70 and making a even bigger patch which actually turned out pretty good. I also welded up the seam and made a start on making a plate for the 5mph impact bar holes, thanks to Locky for aiding me to identify what the hell they were!: then some post production magic and this is what it looked like! From the back it looks like a patch work quilt HA! but i never claimed to be a panel beater or fabricator! Either way im happy with the repair, a bit of KBS rust seal for good measure was used: Then to weld in the inner skin which i had made previously: I now had to make a flat end cap for the 2 panels where the wheel arch goes, so here it is!: and again, welded and plug welded into place: This was the biggest f**K around for me so far, having to re make the corner from scratch, having to make the inner skin from scratch, it has taken over 3 months in total with a hour every night after work.... but im happy with the turnout. In hindsight........ i should have drilled a few holes in the bottom lip of the inner skin for more drainage, something like a 20mm hole right on the edge in a few places, but there is a hole in the bottom corner, and i really cnbf mucking around with this corner again. Oh and i found rust where most have them, fuel filler flap.... but next i want to just plug some holes in the doors where mirrors were, and fill the rear antenna hole and the passenger side bumper hole and seam. Contrary to what he might believe, the longer he has that car, it will actually just devalue due to it getting slowly blown away into the sunset in a cloud of rust as the years pass on like sand through the hourglass.................. ......

Yeah i have a relatively new pilot air compressor and can confirm the water comes out abit rusty anyway. I also drain my tank daily, and putting a water trap inline with your hose reel will protect your tools, also oil them every other use. Try and find out if the 397L/M and 14 CFM is piston displacement or free air delivery, because it can make a difference. Eg: my compressor piston displacement is 455L/m, but it only has 328L/M of free air delivery. In saying that it looks like a pretty decent buy for the price. It should be a able to take nearly anything you throw at it. The most demanding tools i use are my air grinders and sanders, which i use for grinding down all my welds. They use about 12cfm, or around 6L of air per second, which means the compressor runs pretty much all the time while im using it. In saying that i have used them for up to 15 minutes straight finger on the trigger with no issues, apart from me not feeling my hands due to them being frozen due to the die grinder exhaust! As for noise, Even the belt driven compressors scream, if its in a enclosed garage, you will have to wear earplugs or ear muffs. Sure they aren't as loud as a el cheapo direct drive, which tend to Rev a lot higher, but its still way above a comfortable noise level, its uncomfortable for me and i already have industrial deafness! The only issue i see with this compressor is aftermarket support if it breaks. Who will fix it and where will you get parts from, if it needs to be send away, where will it go? That's the main reason i went with an Australian company. Pilot are located in Silverwater, So you have local service and support available. And if it needs warranty it wont have to go half way around the world. Other brand i would consider is Peerless, same same as pilot except they are based in Victoria i believe. But like i said, for a third of the price that mine cost, hey maybe go for it! Rudolf.

No no i was not implying a zed with a 4 cylinder, i wouldn't want that either, i literally mean they need to make a new silvia, the S16. Light, rear wheel drive, turbo 4 cylinder. and to keep it at at least 2L, none of this new 1.4L turbo SSS pulsar Garbage.. Keep the electronics and aids to a minimum ( if you can with new regulations etc) for eg just have ABS, no cruise control, traction control, stability control. Make it a real drivers car, but give it some power to boot. If the FT86 came supercharged from factory, or a STI model came with a turbo it would be perfect in my eyes. There is NOTHING else in the FT86's market, that's the only reason it has been killing it, and Nissan are too stupid to realize this. they have a cheap platform in the S chassis to take it to Toyota but they wont. BUT.....I guess they cant make something that would be half the price of the 370z yet decimate it on the books, because they would just be gouging market share out of their own brand and would kill their own higher spec car. There sure is a replacement for displacement.... 20 pounds of boost! It has to do with tasteful mods that work well and compliment the car. I wish you were in Sydney, Id throw you the keys to my S15 and id have your mind changed about that. I had my car re tuned for winter a few weeks ago and check out this power curve, drives as nice as it did when it came out the factory, pulls as smooth as my mates 360hp SS commodore. Oh and remember that at the end of the day, the SR20 is still a 20 year old engine design, no direct injection to be seen. Another mate has a Golf R..... and wow, even stock its dam impressive, turbo is electronically waste gated, German technology, 20psi of boost holding to redline and NO lag what so ever, very very impressive. Before that he had a Mk5 Golf GTI, with a tune, exhaust, intake and a few other mods, 190kw at the front wheels and felt dam quicker than my car. Actually the old workshop where he had the work done, they did development on their own Golf R, it had only bolt on mods, but it included turbo and injector upgrades, the motor wasn't opened at all, and it ran 11.9 down the quarter mile, i saw it myself on the night. If you haven't been in one, i suggest you take one for a test drive, It will change your opinion on 4 bangers. And yes i have experienced the raw power of a V8 in my friends SS, a low 12 second car, he sold it and bought a FG XR6 turbo, equally as impressive. but you cant write off the 4 bangers! Rudi

yes they are different, i had the same issue when i bought some thailand locks from ebay and they were completely wrong. If it was anything like mine, the slot in the tang that the lock barrel sits in has worn away over time and it just slips and wont turn the tang. What i did was weld up the holes and try my best to re make the keyway for the barrel to fit in. only other option is try and find someone wrecking a 2+2, but ive been to a few of them and they are all pretty much stuffed. Parramatta is a decent area, A LOT of development going on around there, they are trying to turn it into the next CBD. Its my go to suburb, you can pretty much find anything you want there., and it has a mahoosive westfields. ALOT of Indians have been moving in lately, in my experience they are harmless. I would feel safe walking around at night. Church st is the restaurant strip, open all night every night till late, and the old church is converted into a Bavarian beer cafe. (read: German restaurant with the piano accordion dude playing most nights, lots of beer flowing, great atmosphere) -co incidentally, my go to pub! Im about 15 minutes from Parra in a more ghetto, unsure if fireworks or gunshots at night kind of area. Come round to a meet up once you get over, the Sydney crew has started doing regular meets nowdays, always great to have more people to talk dato crap with! bring the wife and kids, they all seem to have fun and get along at the events, i haven't heard a complaint from the wife since i gave her that black eye... wait what?........ that replacement wheel arch looks really good! It seems by saving money on buying a 2+2, i seem to have shot myself in the foot, as you cant get any of these nice replacement panels for a bus.
