  1. Hi I don't want to rain on your parade, but as gilltech says the value of the Golf is a LONG way from the value of Z. The golf would be worh $8k tops, if it was absolutely immaculate (dealer trade value about $5k) Fir a good registered Z A 2 seater Z, $30k upwards A 2+2 $15k upwards So a 2+2 that needs work would apprar to fit your budget. Then there is the cost of restoring, as the sayng goes "think of a number and double it" Maybe place an ad online for the Golf at the price you are after and see how much interest you get, then start the hunt for Z. Cheers PB
  2. Hi You should be able to find solenoids at electrical hobbiest stores (Jaycar in Aus) https://www.jaycar.com.au/standard-12v-solenoid/p/SS0902 As to the wire to trigger it, I would look at using the wire to A/C compressor clutch to trip a relay. Cheers PB
  3. Thanks for posting that vid Jeff Great to see the cars being built on "the line" rather than in post production workshop - reinforces the connection to the more mainstream product, something that is lost in most of today's competition cars. Cheers PB
  4. No not very, the thing that does change is the thread.Older stuff is 3/8 -24 while some newer Japanese stuff is M10 x 1.0 Cheers
  5. Hi Have a look at this thread. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/16194-rebuilding-oem-loom-plugs/ In post #3 KatoKid suggests these guys https://jaydeeautocables.com.au/collections/multi-block-connectors Cheers PB
  6. Hi Standard size is 3/16". Cheers PB
  7. Hi When I needed a line for one of my cars and didn't have a sample I just bent a piece of coat hanger wire to the shape and length then took it to my local brake guy. He made it up on the spot for next nothing. Just a thought. Cheers PB
  8. Gidday Sorting out the unrelaible wiper switch is one of the things on the to-do list for my bus. So I would be interested. Cheers PB
  9. Not sure if you could say they were "Big" in Aus, but I removed quite a few in the 80's and replaced them Cassette and Booster/EQ units, so they were not uncommon. Cheers PB
  10. Agree, looks to be a good opportunity for someone. Has anyone actually inspected it ?
  11. Yes atwo seater for less than $15K is most likely a good deal. Is it as good as you are told, plenty of bogged up ones around. The 4.4 Leyland V8, is a matter of personal choice. Some will see it as a major negative. Is it registered, and with what motor ? Photos ? Personally I would probably grab it, assuming the body checks out. Cheers PB

  13. Also I always put a bit of anti-seize on both threads on the studs. Makes things much easier when you next need to remove the manifold. Cheers PB
  14. Hi Hard to tell from the photo but that looks like you need to push down and slide the nylon, or am I missing the point ? Cheers PB
  15. Good idea, has been a while since I tipped a few dollars in.Done
  16. Hi A mate and I have been tossing around the idea of doing this. Agree that an old Commo or Falcon would be a good and sensible choice. A more adventurous one would be an old Benz or Volvo. Having said that, if I was to do it would probably go with an old Camry wagon Cheers PB

    Wtb Early 240Z

Congrats, well done.Care share some details ?? Cheers PB
  18. Hi Mate Welcome to the forum. As previously mentioned rust is the big worry, the mechanicals are reasonably simple and somewhat bullet proof. Take you time do lots of research and a good car will come along, but it won't be the cheapest one available. Where is the car that is 5hrs away ? Good luck with the hunt. Cheers PB
  19. Hi George The early MX5 is a great little car, very well balanced and in good hands extremely capable. It would have been a fantastic drive back from Vic how did the car go ? Also, wher does the little man's seat go Cheers

    Nsw & V8 For Rego

Hi This has been discussed before in a few threads, but in summary 5.0 in a 2 seater cannot be easily done anymore due to lower weight of the 2 seaters. The best things for you to do is read through the VSB14 Guidelines, then talk to an Services NSW approved engineer BEFORE you start doing anything. The engineer is one who will ultimately determine what can and cannot be approved for road use in NSW https://infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/vsb_ncop.aspx Especially NCOP3 with particular attention to Table LA1 on P11 Scoota put 302C in his 2+2 have a look at his "Project Lucinda" thread to get an idea of the job. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/8848-project-lucinda-ford-302-v8-cleveland-conversion/ Cheers PB
  21. Very impressive indeed. Nice to see some true trade skills are still around in these days of cheap mass produced (and disposable) goods. Cheers PB
  22. Hi Mate Have sent you a copy of the manual. Let us know how you go. Cheers PB
