  1. Rocky auto photos would be cool! Definitely on my to do list next year. Just read the first post here... I think I love your mum....
  2. It seems obvious that power was never something that Toyota was focusing on during the development of their whatchacallit. Sounds similar in concept to an mx5. All the reviews from people who've driven them say they're a blast through corners and feel really fun to drive, which is precisely what they've aimed for. If anyone has driven the old 86's I think that is similar. It's slow as hell, but once you get going it's pretty damn fun (NOT the 4AC equipped models...). I think the fact that it's not a heavily tuned FI motor probably means lower R&D costs thus lower pricepoint, lower maintenance costs, more incentive for owners to get their hands dirty, and the cars should last a very long time (eg most NA series mx5's are at 200,000km+.... not too bad for a 20y.o. roadster). Just like how mazda refrained from putting a 13BT into the MX5's, and kept it to an n/a 1.6L. Again, I wouldn't be surprised if subarota brought out a turbo model near the end of the cars production life, it would be a little silly of them to take away from their own sales by producing a turbo model to kick things off with. There's obviously a big demand for more power, but until the hype starts to die off and they can actually catch up with the demand (it's around a 6mnth wait right now hahah), I don't think they'll be doing anything different.
  3. Edit, can't find anything... I'd be quite surprised if that actually eventuated... Look how many people want the toyobaru, they cannot build the cars fast enough. I doubt many of those people would buy a fwd juke thing. There is only a few cars in the affordable rwd market, and only one of them isn't a convertible. Just seems like a strange business decision for them to make a car that's already got a very competitive market, compared to a car where they'd only have to compete with a few other vehicle models.
  4. Not sure if it makes sense for them to bring out a Z and an S16, though I've read they'd really like to start pumping out new models quickly. Maybe they'll do the same floorpan and basic components, just with a 6cyl for the Z and the usual 4banger for the S. two seater vs 4 seater, liftback vs coupe, that kinda deal? Exciting times! I can dream that they'll bring back the SR20, longer stroke and a VE head i.e. the xtrail GT, just rwd... mmm...
  5. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Datsun-240z-Sports-1973-2D-Coupe-5-SP-Manual-2-4L-Twin-Carb-/280986152474?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item416c146e1a#ht_500wt_1413 Looks quite unmolested. Has the airbox and original radio by the looks of things!
  6. Think I might come out, never been to lala for a grip day, so might be good to watch something different for a day, specially if there's Z's involved. Will be just another knob with a camera, will hopefully take some a few nice snaps despite mallalas pretty atrocious spectator areas
  7. Anyone interested in taking a list of wanted parts for interstate folk? Will probably clear a bit more of the stock if so... Would be happy to pay a commision or whatever to anyone that would box stuff up for a courier to pick up, I'm sure any other interstate people would too.
  8. Lucky bastards. S.A. is $57 for one day, and you have to have to and from addresses printed onto the sheet they give you. Cheaper to hire a trailer.
  9. Hey Roberto, if you're genuinely after some proper man sized wheels like that, get your head around Yahoo Auctions Japan. If you don't have an auto-translating web browser, you can use http://www.importmonster.com.au/yahoo . It's where all the real gems are hidden to most of us english speaking folk. Generally, just navigate to automotive>car parts>rims>14"/15"/16" on the side, and punch something in like 10j, 11j, 12j, SSR, WORK, that kinda thing. There's a guy; jessestreeter.com, who will buy rims on your behalf, pack them up and send them via sea freight to you. About $100 per rim for postage and can take 8-12 weeks.
  10. I learn something more with every single post of yours I see scattered over the various Z forums. You probably get told this enough, but please write a book one day!
  11. To make matters more confusing, after the series 1 bodies were finished, it seems that Nissan used as much of their leftover parts as possible, putting series 1 parts onto the cars immediately after. So they could be series... 1.5.... Seems they did this till roughly the early #1000's? I don't think many prospective or current Z owners care too much about chassis numbers, a good, solid, clean and bog free car seems more important to most. But it's still a fun talking point!
  12. Nice write up here too: http://www.speedhunters.com/2012/09/latmosphere-at-the-revival/ Most certainly want to attend, at least once in my life. Looks like a blast.
  13. I have a spare, spare wheel well, if anyone buys that shell and needs one. Shame about the front end. Guess it will go fairly cheap because of that though.
  14. What are the camping sites like? $52 (for two people) for a night, for parking and tent space... Is it worth just going to book a single bedrrom place at Ramada instead?
  15. This is interesting... What's the specs of the compressor that you run this off?
  16. If you stepped into his shop, there would not be a shred of doubt left in your mind hahah.
  17. Nah mate, went for a few hundred more than I wanted. Decided I was only going to go through with the hassle if there was pretty much a guarantee that I'd be much better off doing it, than buying a clean one already. Cheers for the help though, will be good to keep the info in mind when a similar one pops up for round 2.
  18. Very nice work Paul. +1 to all the others and thanks for taking the time to do this, I think this post will be very useful to a lot of people.
  19. I'm in need of a MIG, not having much luck scrawling through eBay and gumtree over the last months. What are you roughly after for it? If you can give me a weight/rough dimensions I'll get a postage quote and hopefully it won't be too much... If you're keen to go through the hassle of postage, that is. Cheers.
  20. Can't be worse than mine! Might not be worth 3k, but as long as the only rusty spots are the common ones it can't be too far gone.
  21. All sold or just the carbs? If airbox is still left I'm interested pending price. Cheers.
  22. I've seen 195/50/15 Advan AO48 on a 10". Didn't look too safe though haha
  23. I recall hearing that the billet SR blocks are in or close to the five figure mark...
  24. Fair point! Not quite enough of it left that anyone would know what it was though haha. But that's actually a pretty cool idea, if I ever came across a spare rolling 2+2.....
  25. Mossy on here has 16x8 +0 Watanabe R-types. They look perfect. If you're buying new Rota's, you could probably get some second hand Watanabe's/cool stuff for the same price.
