    URGENT!!!!!

let me check. I'll get back to you
  2. I think he should change his user name to "Fred Flinstone"
  3. From the information you have provided it should bolt up ok. The only other item you may need to replace is the rear diff mount. I am reasonably sure the one from the R180 will not fit the R200. I do have an old one from an R200 if you want to check it while yo are at my place this weekend.
  4. Ba ha ha ha ha. I am sure he will return to a missing race car and a friend with a fat wallet. I'm totally joking of course, I am sure he is aware it up for sale. I hope it finds a good home.....somewhere local.
  5. OK I found a pair. I will PM with the details.
  6. You can deposit 500,000 credits in my Karma account Let me check that I do have them first.
  7. Perspex cleans up easily as long as its not cloudy from a chemical reaction. Just use some really fine wet and dry.
  8. ok no worries. I will check one night this week. Are you going to classic Japanese on the weekend? If so I could meet you there. (Assuming I do have a set)
  9. I have the vodka but no orange juice.
  10. where are you? I probably have a set.
  11. I would love to see how they plan to mount the rear suspension
  12. We could take the zeds across to Fraser Is and drive on the beach.
  13. My vote is the Great Ocean Road or Cook Highway
  14. Here is the link to the place in the UK http://www.plastics4performance.com/Lexan--Makrolon--Perspex-race-and-rally-windows-and-window-kits/DATSUN---Lexan--Makrolon-polycarbonate-windows/DATSUN-240-Z-/c-1-288-430-431/
  15. Mike, You are wearing out your keyboard for no reason. Obviously after multiple invites and 0 attendees our local zed community obviously can't actually drive. Now come on, someone prove me wrong Having said all that, I can't attend myself because all my weekends are committed to preparation for Easter at Bathurst.
  16. I was going to go with Lexan but couldn't find anyone to make them up. apparenltly there is different equipment required to shape lexan. Plus the addtional cost seemed pointless. So I went with perspex instead. I am quite happy with the result. There is a place in the UK doing lexan sets for the zeds and with postage the set is around $1000 depending on exchange rates.
  17. I am happy to hit 7400 for 30-40 seconds on the track but I would not want to sit on more that 4000 on the highway for prolonged periods. I think I have accidently hit 8000 - 8500 for an instant during motorkhanas.
  18. 4.1 should be a good ratio given your requirements. However there is a couple of variables you forgot to mention. 1. What gearbox are you running? (Each box has a diffent ration fifth gear) 2. What Rim and tyre combo? (The rim and tyre combo will alter the final ration to the road) I have been running a 4.6 in my 240z which is great on shorter tracks and for motorkhanas but not so great for highway driving. I have a 280zx gearbox and I have 16x50 tyres. At 110KMPH the car is reving at a shade under 4000RPM in fifth.
  19. I still don't get the logic. On my 280zx I had Yokohamas which where quite good. With those Tyres lets say I push my foot 75% on the brake at a certain speed before the tyres give way. Then I spend big dollars getting a brake upgrade. Now I push my foot 50% on the pedel at the same speed before the tyres give way. What is the advantage? My point is that the tyres will always give way under the same load. Massive brakes will not change that one little bit. If you could push the brakes 100% without the tyres giving way, or they were fading after heavy use then a brake upgrade would be justified. But I have never had either of those on my 280zx. Again I am not suggesting that a brake upgrade is not a good thing. I use the same logic for all components of the car. Focus on the weakest link. In the case of the 280zx I believe the weakest link for stopping is the tyres. Through some 15/7s on with some street legal slicks, then the weakest link would become the brakes. Thats my two bobs worth
  20. Yeah, I'm certainly not suggesting the 280zx brakes are the best possible solution. I am saying that they are not bad and if there is a budget involved I would focus the cash on suspension and tyres first. I am sure 4 spot brakes are better but whats the point if the tyres lock up when you only use 50% of the braking potential. If you have better tyres then you might be able to use 75% of the potential which then justifies the upgrade. I have never had any problem with my standard 280 brakes. Even under heavy abuse.... These comments are specifically regarding the 280zx as the priorities are totally different for the 240 or 260. I have Ford BA brakes on my 240. Again they are not the best brakes possible but even with track tyres the tyres give way long before the brakes so what is the point in spending more money to get the absolute best, when the tyres will still give way at exactly the same point. Yes the series 2 rear brakes are significantly bigger. The discs are the same it is just the caliper and pad size that differ. I estimate a 40% increase in surface area (don't quote me on that )
  21. Bigger brakes are always good but then there are the engineering fees. The 280zx brakes are quite good, they were a vast improvement on the 240/260. The standard brakes have good pad area and the rotors are ventilated. The weight of the car is not increasing with the engine conversion so I would be leaving them in place. Put it this way the standard brakes will easily out perform any road tyre so any benefit from an upgrade would not be realised without significant upgrade to track tyres too. Although if it is a series 1 280zx I would seriously consider an upgrade to the back to series 2.
  22. $600 ? A little optimistic me thinks Are you talking about second hand? If so I might have some in the shed.
  23. I think we need more info about the purpose of the car. If you are just after a sporty road car then I found Pedders sports shocks and springs to be excellent although the back end rolls just a little more than I'd like. I know I'll probably get shot down for it....but I am very happy with the result. If you are after a track car then you start talking about Bilsteins or Konis???

Hmmm, He must have sold it cause the driver was not John. By the way I would not take my car to that workshop. Last time I did they cut the brackets of my fuel line cause they were too lazy to unbolt the fan belt tensioner. Grrrrrr
