  1. I replaced mine when I rebuilt the car. I got it new from Black Dragon. However I heard somewhere that you can replace the tap with one from a falcon. I don't think it was quite that simple, from memory the Falcon unit usually sits in the engine bay. I don't have any more detail sorry.
  2. Thanks SS and S It was a memorable day all round. So glad we made the effort. Everyone was lovely. Josef's family attached a pillar badge from a 260z (2+2) on the coffin lid. It was in a beautiful part of the world, just North / West of Lismore.
  3. Yup, They have already bounced off their lowest price and are gradually getting more expensive. Just be sure you get one that is relatively rust free. Dashes are expensive to repair so try to get a good dash. All the rest can be repaired or replaced just like any other car.
  4. Oh you mean that chat where you agreed he could have the car in return for some favors .................Keep the car!!!

    260z 2+2 Dogleg?

In my case the rust was below the "crease" of the panel. (I'm not sure if that is the correct term). So I replaced the sill all the way through which only left a gap between the top of the sill panel and the crease. I then filled the gap with some flat steel. I think that part normally has a slight curve to it but the area is so small is is not noticable. If your rust is on the crease or higher then this idea will not work for you. But it sounds like the lower guard idea might work.
  6. If you can't find anyone local I can make you some. Try Alfa motorsport http://www.motorsportfibreglass.com.au/products.php
  7. +1 for Stevo's place and the Gateway.......If we all tailgate through the tolls we might get away with one tag
  8. Agreed, I am keen to meet at your place and head down from there. Will we need a Go via tag? or will we take the riverside expressway?
  9. I'll be there. I can bring a Z badge.
  10. Oh wait.... here you go http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,2582.msg20176.html#msg20176
  11. My vote was in the understanding you were putting Flamingo badges on......geez I wish I had taken photos of those!! Its just not as much fun only being able to talk about them.
  12. What brand are they?
  13. Mate, just a thought, but the 280zx came with a leather option in the USA. I know it would cost a bit to get them here but you might be able to pick some up cheap to compensate.
  14. Mine is the same. It also has the "Datsun" horn button. I think the wheel was made by SAAS (Mine has a sticker) but I guess the sticker could have been added. Just like I think the horn button was added.

Hey guys, The navigator who won the East Africa rally in 1973 in a 240z lives in Towoomba. His name is Lofty Drews. He still holds a place in his heart for the old dattos (zeds, 1600s and 180Bs) He still gets back over there every year and in fact he could be the only person who has participated every year. He is a genuine character. I don't think the zed in the pic is the car he won in (his hit a tree and lost one headlight) I think I have some pics of it somewhere. I'll check when I get home.
  16. Welcome and ditto (good luck with the hunt) Also how do you rate the GTIR? I always thought they would be a fun car to drive?
  17. According to the website it is only open to "modern front wheel drive cars" strange that Zcar racing are sponsoring it but then again they are more about race tyres than zeds these days.

    Cheap/stuffed R200

Yeah, By the way the oil was a bonus....hope it didn't go all over your floor. I mustn't have tipped it up long enough...only a dribble came out.

    260z 2+2 Dogleg?

I replaced my sills. The replacement panel was long enough that I just continued it all the way to the edge. The result was fine. But that was a 2+2 sill on a 240z. not sure if you'd have enough length on a 2+2

Darn that was bad timing. Just sold one last week.
  21. still hate the mankini idea but I love the mockups. Where did you get the blanks and what software is that?
  22. Put Porsche badges on ..... just to keep em guessing
  23. I was giving that a go too but failed. I destroyed my only two originals while trying to make the moulds. Count me in for a pair too.
  24. Hey guys, On a regular basis I scrape the scale off my rotor buttons and the contacts in the distributor cap. But I was thinking this probably increases the gap between the rotor and the contacts making the spark less effective? I'm just wondering how often I should replace the rotor and cap? Both my cars run the electronic ignition.
  25. Sorry if this is the wrong place but there is no other clear winner. Most people interested in corner weights are interested in racing anyway. I visited Lakeside today and Fulcrum were offering free corner weight measurements. Popped my 240 up and it was pretty close to what I expected. FL=271KG FR=334KG RL=279KG RR=286KG The total weight was 1171KG (include one useless 120KG lump of driver) Keeping in mind I have a full cage that makes the car (minus driver) 1051KG. I still have some mods in mind for the near future that I am confident will take another 27KG off that bringing it down to 1024KG I am reasonably happy with the total. I am also quite pleased with the weight distribution, although I'm a little surprised that (taking the driver out of the equation) there was more weight in the back than the front)
