  1. Steering racks here would be useless but how much for a Hazard light switch? I'm hoping they are similar to a 240Z one..Thanks
  2. Congrats and well done... Shouldn't be too hard to get that look of that blue zed. Just keep looking at it for the inspiration!
  3. How much for the dizzy and mirror? PM me with what your after if you can..Thanks Gareth..
  4. It is a bit harder to source good components for a NA build for the RB. A good set of cams I got priced around $990. Also, if Mike (Nzeder) didn't offer me some nice stainless headers for the RB, I'd be looking at about $2k for a new set or for some mild steel ones that wouldv'e had to be custom made for about $500. I never chased up pistons as I wanted to see how far I can go with a virtually stock head/block combo. If I had plenty of cash, I would've kept the RB and just rebuilt the L24 and kept it aside. Now its being built and installed in the zed. If you want good HP and not fussed about NA/Turbo, by all means go for the DET. If you love induction noise and have some spare cash, definately do a NA build. Its not a waste of time. You are better off in my opinion to spend the cash on a RB NA build than the L series (that is if you don't mind a change in motor type from L series to RB) because I think you will always end up with more HP with the RB. Make a 3 liter bottom end with the twin cam head, some nice EFI setup with 50-55mm throttle bodies and I'm sure you can get around 180Kw at the wheels without a turbo..
  5. Nothing drastic, just 74' cam, some mild head work and the ITB injection. Sounded and went very well!
  6. Sad to hear.. It was on the Sunrise program this morning..
  7. I thought I'd add my 2c here since I went from L28 - RB25DE - L24 all NA. Been a tad busy and only have time at work . I love both engines but one thing the RB had over the L seies was the smoothness while driving and the engine wanting to rev! The only thing that held back the RB was the camshafts; once you revved around 5500rmp, it would just run out of breath. I had the same EFI system on all the engines and just had to make a manifold for the RB. Power wise, out of a stock 2.5 liter, was very impressive. Worked L28 had 153 rwkw, RB25 stock had 120 rwKw, and the stock L24 has 92rwKw. If I had my choice, the Rb would still be in bewteen the strut towers with some nice lumpy cams and nice stainless headers courtesy of Mike! I did have nice induction noise out of all three but you just can't simply beat a twin cam head...
  8. I was just thinking of that last night...but with EFI throttle bodies..mmm
  9. Might have a gear stick for you...I have to get home and check!
  10. Happy Birthday Mark for the 9th of last month...
  11. With an L28 I had built, I did get Steve Newing to build the bottom end but he asked me if I wanted to assemble the head completely. He gave me the lash pads marked for intake and exhaust, valve springs and valves and the spring compressor and off I went! Took me around 3-4 hours but I can say nothing ever failed when I raced it at the tracks! Was pretty easy, so I say go do it as well..
  12. Wasn't there enough cable to install the ECU in the cabin? In the engine bay is not the best place for electronics... That's the one thing that kills everything! That's why crank angle sensors etc die in cars; too much heat!
  13. What do you need or are after? Or is it just time and labour?
  14. Sometimes that viscous coupling clutch seizes on so the fan turns at engine speeds making it louder than it should. If you try to turn it while the engine is OFF! if you can't, there's your problem! Normally, they can be rotated in either direction.
  15. 240Z's got the single globe (but with double filament like a brake light globe) and the clear lens and the US/Japan got the amber lens. Aust 260Z got the housing with 2 seperate globe holders with an internal amber lens for the indicator and a clear outer lens. Chris, I have the 260Z type with the internal amber lens with the splitter. If you have the amber 240Z ones with the double filament, if you are happy we can swap? I've been after some amber ones for my zed..
  16. I've already sent my entry in...if you want to run be quick; PI always fills fast! Can I ask what you will be entering? The Nismo 370Z or a perfect rust free 240Z with all the goodies?
  17. That small doubt is about the flywheel.. but I'm confident it will bolt up without any issues. Simon, it's not as if I sat down and actually did the calculations about that doubt I had...its a number I pulled out of the air; there's no math to back that up.. hehehe
  18. Yep, that is a loop and that wire from the tacho goes to the + on the coil to supply power.
  19. Happy B'day Simon..hope I'll be seeing you at the Island?
  20. You mean the front indicator/park lights under the headlights with the seperate indicator and parker lamps? They aren' t the easiest to come across in excellent condition. Just have to keep a lookout for them in the classifieds.
  21. I tried to find details about how or what kind of trigger it needs but you may have to email or call them up to find out if it will work. I downloaded the instruction manual but it just shows trigger inputs from a factory loom of some car. Best to ask "I have a RB25 with a wasted spark coil pack (3 coils) and original CAS. Which MSD unit will work?) for example.
  22. You hope they haven't butchered it too much to fit the 308 like the trans tunnel or gearbox mounts. I'm thinking around the 7-8K mark on this one..
  23. I'm about 99.899999% sure they are!
  24. With that bolt issue, I had to do that mod as I did the ratio swap with my LSD from 4.4 to 3.9. My 4.4 crown gear had M12 bolts and the 3.9 had M10. I just machined up some small "rings" or you could say washers to sit inside the LSD center which was still M12 in size but with a M10 hole. When I swapped the gears, you also get the bolts that bolt the center to the crown gear. Once that is done, diff goes together like any other. Would've been perfect if all the diff's had the same bolts! Oh well
  25. Nope, the single cam RB30 head has the dizzy; you will have to buy a MSD device to run a coil pack from the CAS. I don't think its at all hard to do.. You may need one of these..but email them to make sure! http://www.msdignition.com/Products/Sport_Compact/Import/Ignitions/62152_-_MSD_DIS-4_Plus_Distributorless_4_Channel.aspx
