Realised it was going to take up too much of my time when I should be using what little of it I have to work on the resto. The MX5 I bought has plenty of power and won't require much maintenance.

A colleague does it and keeps pestering me to join. He raves about it regularly.

When I sold my 240Z I bought a red MX5 SE which was a lot of fun. See old thread here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,6088 I sold that car a couple of years ago after a period of little use but have missed it ever since. The plan was to buy a 240 that runs but since I ended up with a rusty mess that will take me years to get on the road I wanted something reliable and fun for the weekends until the 240 is finished. Nothing fits the bill better than an MX5 so... Meet Stefan It's my least favourite colour but it is really growing on me with the black hardtop. It just needs some coilovers, a modest drop and some black Grid V's or something in 15's.

This was me with the last 240. Maybe more like 6 times a year. This was a reason, one of a few, for selling in the end.

Having read every word of your detailed and long build thread I'm really sad to see that you're considering selling the Hornet without having enjoyed the fruits of your labour. Having said that, this is not the first time I've seen exceptionally built cars being offered for sale so soon after they were completed. Some people extract more satisfaction from the build process although it's still disappointing to see the car not being used and enjoyed by the original owner/builder. I wish you luck with the sale Adam but more so I wish you change your mind and enjoy it for a while before you move it along.

I'd love to see that go ahead but someone would have to organise it as I'm away until the end of the month. I'd be happy to do it when I return but for the 7 December (Summer) date.

I chased up the insurance company a couple of times and even though it sounded promising I was running out of time so I borrowed a ute and took it to a mechanic. About half a cup of water came out when I lifted it on to the ute and the mechanic reported a small amount in #6. Nothing to worry about but now I know it's dry of water and it has been oiled. The engine turned by hand easily and was generally clean with minimal bore lip. It is now safely stored at home and out of my mind until I need it in a couple of years time... My assistant

I was about to have a go yesterday when the restorer guys turned up. They suggested that is should be covered by insurance along with everything else that was water damaged. I'm just waiting for the insurance company to get their report and we'll go from there. A couple of the restorer guys were car enthusiasts so they'll be on my side I'm sure. Fingers crossed!
