  1. The worst part on any of those cars are the square headlight conversions. Just doesn't work at all.
  2. Hodgo and Mick need to come down together and run a club day at Baskerville. I've been stirring Hodgo to bring the rat down and see what time he can get out of it before he gets too carried away with its pointy shapped cousin.
  3. Nice colour choice. It's going to look fantastic once it's all done.

    Cage

haha, we used to do it with kart engines, not sure how you'd go with an L6

Anyone building a hot tarmac rally Z?

What's the go with the new cams certification process for running any sort of steel alloy? Sounds very involved with submitting engineering drawings, etc, but is it not that bad?

That leads me to an interesting question. Pete, what do you think you could make out of a high comp version running on E85?

Ask whoever does it for you to lean the main hoop back a little. As long as they do that then you should be able to have the seat a long way back.
  9. Great footage and nice driving Ledge. Looks like heaps of fun and a fairly high speed run for a hillclimb.

    Cage

I bought a Bond 'kit' type cage with all the bars bent ready to cut and weld in and got a mate that builds cages down here to weld it in for me on the cheap. It only has the basic bars required by CAMS but it did make a big difference to the handling. I pulled about 1.5 seconds off my lap times straight away. We're now going through the process of adding a cross bar behind the dash and linking the cage into the front strut towers. The kit from Bond was about $1,000 but that's going back a few years now. To get a workshop to do it, $2500 will be on the cheaper side but you might be able to find somebody who will build a fairly basic cage like mine for around that. Expect to pay anywhere from $4-8K+ for a fairly serious cage built from CDS, more again for chrome moly. Depending on the workshop, you will probably be able to save yourself a bit of cash by having the car ready to go so that they don't have to remove and re-install anything. Interior, dash & windscreen out, etc, etc. That's all i can think of for now, hope that helps. I'm sure dat2kman & PZG302 will be able to point you in the right direction for some cage builders in SE QLD.
  11. Great result Ledge. Gotta be happy with that in an event which looks like it attracts a very strong field, especially considering you're still in the early days of sorting the car out. Looks like great things to come
  12. Yep, he drives it very well. And I think he should have a big crack at the Highclere hillclimb under 2L record before he gives it a birthday
  13. Hopefully it won't be too long until I have my own car going again to bring up for some events
  14. Great to meat you on the weekend Mick. Pitty you had to leave early, I would have been happy to listen to your car go round the track all day. I love my turbo engine but they sure don't sound like yours!
  15. Thanks very much again for the drive mate, had an absolute ball! Such a fun little car and does everything right. Might have to trade my Z in on one Also got to see big red in person for the first time since the coat of jam. It looks the goods people. Red has always been my favourite colour for Zeds but I think this might be the nicest red I've seen one done in.
  16. What day are you going to look at it? I may be pit crewing for a mate running Sports GT at the Supercars meet next weekend. Can't promise anything but maybe I could tie in to come look at it with you. I reckon dad will be with me too.
  17. Hey Scott, what colour is it? Just wondering if I know the car. 1:09's at Symmons is pretty slippery for a n/a street z.
  18. Unfortunately Agno is right. It's going to be used to sell cheap, poorly produced cars that they don't want to sell under the Nissan name.
  19. Just read the write up on the front page. Car is looking great! I'll have to have a chat to you sometime about your CV conversion.
  20. Looks like a very clean car. Nice one.
  21. Sicky puppy! One very talented man.
  22. That one is a cracker. The tarmac rally guys rate it as one of the best stages in Aus!
  23. Excellent, I'm sure they'll work well. They idle fine in a 2.6 from the factory so there shouldn't be any trouble in the big block
  24. Might have to get Mrs Bluerat to park the ride-on
  25. Great to hear you're keeping the car and continuing on with it. It will be a rocketship with 600hp and a 4 cylinder mounted up against the firewall.
