  1. I got some done at BGT Brakes who used to be in Hawthorn but are now only in Dandenong. I took down the shape I needed and they made them up for me. I was buying a few other things at the time and from memory I don't even think they charged me for them.
  2. when I get my car back I'll take a couple of photos of the module and update the thread, cheers Bruce
  3. I spoke to the event director last night and there is still spots available for both days. My car is getting a new cam at the moment, so if I get it back in time I will be entering for Saturday. There is a passenger session on Saturday afternoon. If the car is not ready I'll be a flaggy on both days, so I'll come over and say gday. cheers Bruce
  4. A bit of an update, hope it doesn't sound like waffling. I got the bolt holding the pulleys off quite easily with the rattle gun. Needed a wheel puller to get the actual pulleys off after the bolt came off.Put them back on using a torque wrench at 100ft/lb and some loctite as suggested. The engine is out of a 280zx. I bolted the mechanical fuel pump up to it and turned it over. Nothing..... Fuel isn't coming through the pump. Took the pump off and manually pumped it, it is working fine. Lifted the rocker cover, there is no cam for the fuel pump as the 280zx uses an electric fuel pump. I'll have to grab a cam tomorrow. Assuming they are a straight forward bolt on. Hopefully thats the last thing to sort out and the Z should be mobile again. (fingers crossed)

    N42 head question

I am in the process of swapping over the original L24 to L28. The L28 has an N42 head which has additional bolt holes to bolt up the EFI manifold. When using the original SU manifold these holes are not used. Can anyone recommend a tidy way of plugging them? cheers Bruce
  7. The 280zx distributor I am trying to install looks to have a different ignition module to that described. It is a bosch unit attached to the side of the distributor. There are 4 spade connections of which two are connected to within the distributor. The other two are numbered 15 and 16. Does anyone know if these correspond to the B & C terminals described earlier? cheers Bruce
  8. If you can get 14's I would be interested as well. Also interested in 13's, how much tread do they have? Whereabouts in Melbourne is pick up? and can you fit them to my rims? cheers Bruce
  9. I couldn't move them with the engine out. I thought I might be able to do it with the car in gear and hand brake on with the rattle gun. hopefully have a crack at it tomorrow.
  10. Just an update.... The L28 went in yesterday. As said above it took longer than expected due to unforeseen problems. I was using an engine crane, however the reach on the crane wasn't long enough for the length of the Zeds nose. The nut for the front pulleys on the L28 for power steering, alternator and air conditioning wouldn't come off. I am still working on getting this off. hopefully get it started tonight or tomorrow.
  11. The Engine came out this afternoon. It took around 2 hours. There is a heap of fiddly things like all the manifold bolts and the carby and choke connections which take time. Hopefully i'll get out to the garage tonight to put the L28 in. cheers Bruce
  12. After some inspiration from Dimitri this afternoon and seeing that I have some extra unplanned spare time currently, I have decided to put in the l28 that has been collecting dust in the garage for the last 18 months. I am hoping to get started and hopefully finished tomorrow (was going to do it today but thought the wife might not approve seeing that it is the wedding anniversary) I have done A series and L4 series quite a few times but have not done the L6 before. I am hoping 4-5 hours to have it running What sort of times have you done an engine change in? Bruce
  13. Picked the wheels up this afternoon. thanks Dimitri. What a great forum this is!!!
  14. If they have not already gone, I'll take them off your hands, can pick them up tomorrow cheers Bruce

  17. Just wondering if anyone has a pair of sumitomo twin spot calipers they would like to sell? Prefer not to have to rebuild them, but beggars can't be chooses. thanks Bruce

    WTB: 280zx or 260z

I found this 280 on the pickles auction website: http://www.pickles.com.au/damaged/vehicle/CP-07-83-Datsun-280ZX-Coupe-4-Seats/itemid-1-970017996/lotid-0 cheers Bruce
  22. I am hoping to get my car out for a sprint in the next month or two and need some tow hooks. Last event I entered, i blew my clutch and had to be towed. I don't have a tow hook so the guys towing did the best they could by hooking it around the bumper which resulted in a bent front bumper. Can anyone either: recommend a bolt on tow hook which will clear a front spoiler or alternatively recommend someone to make one or should I have a crack at making one myself? I probably should get one for the rear as well, so the same questions apply? cheers Bruce
  23. from memory the 180b handles are the same as 1600 and the casting was a little thicker cheers Bruce
  24. Sulio, I have a pair of front 240 strut inserts if you want them, (or anyone else if Sulio doesn't want them) cheers Bruce
  25. hey Rev, is there a noticeable difference in the shift on the 280zx box compared to the original? cheers Bruce
