  1. It was Nissan Car Club that approached NDSOC to run it. They run these types of events all year (motorkhanas, auotcrosses, rallys, sprints) under CAMS guidelines. cheers Bruce
  2. I did a motorkhana in my z just before christmas. It was on bitumen at the old BP service Station at Somerton on the hume highway. I needed a bit more grunt to get it to slide, instead of understeering and also a lsd would have been very handy. It was heaps of fun though. When the club is running the next one, I'll post the details. We were hoping to run one at the nationals coming up, but NDSOC wouldn't get back to us about it (after chasing them up numerous times about it). cheers Bruce
  3. gday Peter, have you got any photos of the new purchase? cheers Bruce
  4. is this one of those urban myths, there has been no follow up on it since it was posted a while back, makes for a good read though cheers Bruce

    Black Bonnet?

great looking car you have Scando. Have you got any other pics or specs you care to share with us? cheers Bruce
  6. here is a pic of the car with them on:
  7. Gday guys, I bought some 15x7 wheels a little while ago. 2 are original watanabes and 2 are copies There is about 10mm of clearance between the wheel and the strut on the front, currently without running spacers (see attached pic). I have got access to some 5mm spacers which I don't really want to use but will if I have to. If I was running coilovers which use a smaller diameter spring platform it wouldn't be an issue. Has any one got any thoughts on what sort of clearance is needed between the wheel and the strut? cheers Bruce attached are some pics:
  8. have you tried the pulsar forum: http://forum.pulsar.org.au cheers Bruce
  9. I have just put a set in my 240z, I ran with them down at Phillip Island. Pulled them out to check them and there is no visible sign of wear or pitting etc. So far so good. I can't say I noticed any measurable performance improvement. cheers Bruce
  10. gday Vlad, has your car arrived as yet? I am interested to see how you go registering your car with the L28. (as noted in the above posts) I am about to do the same conversion. keep us up to date (and post some pics of your new purchase) cheers Bruce
  11. have you tried trackside tyres? trackside tyres They are in Kilsyth. A few guys in our car club (NCCA) have bought wheels there and they were quite reasonable. cheers Bruce
  12. gday Rod, I got the tailshaft unis changed and the shaft balanced for $130 I think it was. Are you running down at the island this weekend? cheers Bruce
  13. I had a huge vibration from the tailshaft/ rear of Z when I was travelling at more then 100 km/hr. Had the uni's replaced in the half shafts and tailshaft and had the tailshaft balanced. All the work was done by Jeff Lagerwey Tailshafts (03) 9758 4015 73 Bursaria Ave FERNTREE GULLY VIC 3156 Dropped it off yesterday, got it back midday today. Very reasonably priced, thoroughly recommended fitted it up tonight, went for drive, vibration is gone (and a lot quieter)

    Harness Fitment

i'm getting my cage done tomorrow by Brown Davis, so I should have it sorted. Thanks for the advice guys cheers Bruce
  15. I am busily trying to get my car ready as well. I had a vibration when the car got above about 120, so have had new unis and the tailshaft balanced. (fingers crossed it fixes the problem) Hopefully tomorrow i am getting the cage put in. It will be good to see a few Z's down there.
  16. You guys in Adelaide get all the bargains looks pretty good from the photos: 260z on Ebay cheers Bruce
  17. thanks Dave, I had a collection of 12mm spanners trying different approaches (but didn't have a S shaped one) Does it matter which way the bolts face, as it looks like they would be easier to do up if they were inserted thread facing forward towards the engine? thanks for your help cheers Bruce
  18. Hi guys, not sure if I am doing this correctly or not. I have taken the tailshaft out of my car to get new unis on it and to get it balanced. I had to drop the front diff mount to get close to being able to unbolt the tailshaft. After doing this, it was still really difficult to get in to undo the bolts connecting the tailshaft to the diff. I'm concerned that when I reinstall it, I may not be able to get the bolts tight enough. Has anyone found a way to do these up more easily than the way I have described? cheers Bruce

    Harness Fitment

At this stage I am not going to do any state racing, just club sprints. Between now and the start of the next years events I'll get a cage put in with a harness bar, that way I don't have to worry about temporarily engineering something up and having to worry about whether the scrutineer on the day will pass it. cheers Bruce
  20. I just rang Brown Davis. They can fit a powder coated half cage with harness bar which can be extended down into the front of the cabin (in the future) for $790. I thought that was quite reasonable. It also comes with all the Cams compliance paperwork for your log book. Any thoughts? cheers Bruce
  21. PIARC are running the last round of the group 5 sprint series for the year at Phillip Island on the 11th and 12th of November. Sup Regs are here The last couple I have been to, have had heaps of track time, so it should be a good weekend. Is anyone planning on going? cheers Bruce
  22. gday Aaron, Give us a run down on your car? where was the photo taken and what was the event? cheers Bruce

    Rebuilding an L6

Thanks for the reply Nato, Next question, What sort of comp ratios were you running, and what sort of fuel where you using? Just wondering if you have found an optimum compression ratio that can still use pump petrol (premium unleaded)? As an aside, a couple of mates who rally 1600's have had to run thicker headgaskets or rebuild there engines in order to bring down the comp ratios since they can't run avgas anymore. cheers Bruce

    Rebuilding an L6

Nato, does what you are suggesting only apply to an L24 or can the same mods be performed on an L26/28 for similiar performance improvements???? cheers Bruce

    Rebuilding an L6

pick a part. They are located in Kilsyth and Campbellfield. They have weekly specials, the motors come up every couple of months. A bare motor is a complete motor less any bolt ons as I understand. no manifolds, distributor, starter motor, alternator, etc cheers Bruce here is the web link pinch a part
