  1. hey guys i have 2x L28's. 1 is a F54 short block it was running fine when it was pulled out but was tied, the N42 long block( n42 head) has a gudgon or rod knock but is a complete engine. im after $500 each both are virgin bores. they are located in albury nsw, I am going to Sydney on Saturday 22-8-15 so I can help with transport there
  2. there would have been a rubber strip there that says 280zx on it, not sure if series 2 has them but both of my series 1 do
  3. I used nulon 10w30 mineral oil when breaking in mine, all I did is just warmed up my engine to operating temp then just cained the backside out of it. it has been very happy with know signs of any trouble, it has even seen upwards of 20psi of boost
  4. what are your port sizes mate, I might be able to track one down through work, I have a couple of metal intake exhaust gaskets at a worse case you could always dremel one out
  5. I didn't think you where going to go, I ended up staying home due to the wet weather, did you end up taking the z ? and any pics
  6. if you want a gearbox done properly, I would send it too lurch, by the time you stuff around chasing up parts etc, his rebuild price looks pretty dam good

  8. you prob have worn out rockers, so you will rather need new rocker arms or buy some thicker lash pads
  9. I don't really want to be " that guy " but if you wanted cheap you should have just purchased a silvia. you are much better off just getting good quality shocks and spring or just rebuilding the front shocks

  13. I have a mould for a BRE style rear spoiler, I will at some stage make one, then chop it, extend it then make a new mould for the 2+2. im not too sure how long it will be as im still stripping my 260z back
  14. yes, buy new head studs, old head studs cost me a fully rebuilt engine when one snapped off in the block destroying all the thread, im still chasing my tail trying to fix this problem

  16. you could always part with your pistons gareth, they would go nicely in my engine
  17. I don't mean to sound like an ass but you lost me, what are you trying to do, put coil overs in a 280zx or put s 13 knuckle onto a 280zx ?
  18. it will be a L24-L28 points type distributor, hitachi brand
  19. you may have a different harmonic balancer on the engine, mine was much the same on my L26, it was apparently running 20 degrees but infact it was around 8
  20. welcome to datsuns and points, I use to carry 2 spare sets and a set of feeler gauges around with me as I use to go through a set about every 3- 6 months, I learned my lesson and went to electronic, since then ive not had a issue
  21. if I where you I would consider a 2+2, I know there not the 2 seater but they drive beautifully and can look very nice, with a budget of 5k you should be able to get a decent starter for a project
  22. Sorry as this is a little off topic but how well do the gtv seats fit as I have very good access to them
  23. permaseal is good, the acl ez series is not too bad, and platinum gaskets you order through supercheap are also very good, if it was my engine I would use permaseal or platinum
  24. just go to supercheap they have everything you need apart from the hard line
  25. those flat tops are far better then the 260z ones, they will not be as good in performance but much better in general
