sounds good Mick. initialy as long as it runs to get me to Regency and back without too many issues. after i get them rebuilt and fit them to my S1 as they are missing. cheers
-
I thought i put this up not in terrible hurry but if something pops up at a good price ill grab it. need this to fit in my 240 so it can go over the pits and get the canaries off. L series engine prefferably L26 in running condition but consider l24 and l28. 240z Series 1 carbs so roundtops airbox be good too but not essential at the moment. 240z or 260z gearbox prefferably 240z to go with my S1. but will consider others if price is right. let me know what you peeps have. engine i guess preffer localy due to transport cost.but will consider it. other stuff interstate not a problem. doesnt need to be perfect just usuable. should have kept the L28 and 5spd and the roundtops i had in it. now have to source it all back again. cheers

geez its taking long time to get back to norm Mick. That accident sure was more serious. to make u feel bit better since this crap cold weather my right knee and lower back are killing me. never had this problem prior the accident. got booked at specialist to get checked out. i recon i go insane if i cant work on cars. hope its nothing serious. but working on a car at the moment is too painfull. so that takes both of us out. F#$*@$ lancer driver. hopefully when all this crap is over and we mended we can put some hrs in and get these cars finished. i got lot of catching up to do.

man that is one hot ferrari. yeah bit unfair comparing it to stock GTR. than again if ferrari needed something like that to beat nissan than Nissan did realy well

Good to see you here Marcus. it must be something in Adelaide water as retard drivers seem to be cutting off Z cars and destroying them. at least urs is fixable.

had a puzzling situation few weeks ago on relatives nissan patrol. the temp will go off the scale and spit water out. engine didnt blow a gasket as there was no water in oil or through the intake. ran good no problems. but drive it for 2k temp of scale and water spitting out. mind u this happend in the middle of the highway and the car was driving from Melbourne to Adelaide almost 8hrs without a problem. i was puzzled. though could be the pump but no noises.. only thing i was thinking is radiator is blocked or something with thermostat. After loss of coolant we will refill it and it will spit out almost cold water. the top radiator hose was highly pressurised. anyway long story short once the car got home on a tow truck we found that thermostat has cracked and shut itself. removed the thermostat started the car and no issues. after we replaced with new one. car driven back 850km and no issues. even though u changed the thermostat have a look at it and test it on its own. thats if the simptoms are same. if not look at the pump.

i used a generic one that i bought of ebay. it was well put together. my guess its it bit of luck buying those chinese intercoolers. bought two so far and seemed to be ok. not that bad quality. but seen some dodgey ones too. i used the universal 600x300x76 which is same what they use in nissan kits ie S13, s14,s15,R32 and R33. though piping be useless need custom job. if u check my gallery u see how i installed it. didnt use diffusers as air could only go one way and couldnt have gone around the intercooler. ive positioned my connecting hoses at the bottom and modified the front rad support. on driver side i used the existing air vent pick up and on passenger side made an extra hole for pipes to go through. the left air vent i used to mount the AFM and filter which was position just infront of the grill next to the intercooler. nice and cold fresh air. having the pickups lower requires more moding on the skirting. idealy i would like to have inlet on higher and outlet on lower side of the cooler to use it more efficiently. next project Z i will try do something like it. intercooler size ill be looking at will around 550 or 500x300x100 or 120 thick. though ill be using different engine with larger turbo. i found in my s14 (sr20det ) that had a smaller trust cooler was lot more user friendly than the replacemt 600x300x76. it had quite a bit more lag even with crossflow design. the old trust one i had had like 2m of piping.but lag was no different to the stock one. smaller cooler less lag but it will get hot after few squirts. with the bigger one i haven't noticed much loss in performance when used a fair bit. but the lag is quite noticable. thats for a street daily use.

verb240 yeah u can if its the external type and adapt to the existing lines. but again u got to make sure it doesnt run out of fuel otherwise it dies. than $300+ later for new pump. Dave, as long as u dont run it very low it wont have any issues. i had mine dead on "E" once just to try it out and never missed. but ive learned to make sure my cars got at least 1/4. replaced quite a few pumps in my S14. previously had holey blue reconditioned one and vl turbo inline no surge tank. if less than 1/4 she started missing. shortly after the VL one died. than i returned back to my surge tank and walbro but had issues with fuel leaks on the surge tank. redesigned the top sealing cap using an O ring never leaked after that till it got written off. so u shouldnt have any issues with it Dave.

that 70s concept looks like it has a z windscreen or similar to the lemans race cars. that new one im assuming it be the new Z it looks too big for the new Silvia/200sx/s16
-
nope u got to cut the tank. also there arent any baffles inside the tank so u will have issues when flooring it or going around corners with less than 1/4 tank. my next project im planing to use a modified S13 or 180sx fuel tank. its similar style to s30 its metal and it has internal fuel pump which includes baffles. ive installed the walbro into custom surge tank bit of a pain in the A$$ to make up and seal properly but can be done.

i used Apexi AVCR. i did see on on ebay currently cheap at 250. the retro one i forgot to send it to you its only 4 wires and a hose to connect. +ve, gnd and two wires to solenoid that i did supply. im still chasing the AFM plug as soon as i get it ill send it to you with the controller. i knew i was missing something but couldn't figure what.
-
mate i had all that running in my car. both climate control power windows central lock electric mirrors etc......spent weeks getting that all to run on Z. hence i couldnt see myself giving it away. same story with the guages. make sure the airflow meter is not shorting out and that boost controller loom every wire is isolated. they are directly connected to the ECU loom. also make sure the alarm fuses are not shorting on the body anywhere. other than that like u said the grounding is important . i didnt cut any of them out. so bolt them up. have u got the engine in the car? If u need any pointers just ask. expecialy during work hours LOL.... Andrew (hunter) u got PM.

u can upgrade just the pump with external electric fuel pump either bosch 440 or on the cheaper side VL turbo pump. only prob is u got to make sure u got at least more than 1/4 fuel in the tank otherwise it will starve both pump and engine. before u know it u be out buying new pump. ive used holey red (cheapest out of the better brands high flow low pressure feeding a surge tank than from tank u have ur 0440 or VL. i had in mine holey red feeding a 2.5l surge tank with internal Walbro GS332 from memory 255LH fuel pump for S15. worked a treat. other than that ii think earlier 240z had smaller fuel delivery lines than the later 260z. if so u may need to upgrade to larger diameter lines like the ones in later 260z. have u dont hte conversion ie is the engine allready bolted to the car or u asking what involved with that too?

LOL mate been there done that. once u get ur missus to help u work on it till 5am in the morning trying to finish a Z for a z meet at 10am than it be something. LOL so hows it all going.? havent had any abusive calls yet (hope never get them)
