gac agree with nizm0zed and guys bellow. fd is nice but rotary = pain. like they said get a porsche 944 turbo or even later model 968 big 3L 4cyl or cosworth escort something bit rare here and kinda cheapish up there, that u can bring over here via personal import. my plan is to do top gear euro trip. ie get a car in UK drive accross europe than pack it on container and bring it back here. was thinking cosworth, porshe, m3 etc.....

;D LOL BLUGTRR u caused a bit of a stir mate with ur post.... i think its not unreasonable what u after but getting someone to part with something like that would be hard. they may be worth 20K + but most of those spent close to double that to get them to that stage. so i understand both of u guys. its more like whos more desperate. someone swapping their Z for GTR or u paying more for the Z. btw did anyone check carsales recently with 240/260z there is RB powered 240z with asking price of 85K plus few other very high priced ones... lurch dont lock it be interesting to see if any takers.

well at the moment looks like she get a new lease on life and will get it restored. though still not certain on colour. though its kinda growing on me after seeing few pics. but as a potential resale i think some of the more common colours may be worth while "resale red (everyone is sucker for red sports car) ", silver, white blue etc...., . than again plenty of time and work before i need to decide that.

Very funny Fonzy!( i mean Mick) I saw this last nite and love a godzila. Prob would have considered it. but now she's bent and almost worthless. Grrrr calm down johhny u don't want to break anyones arms and legs for cutting u off.... Ahh rbz only a memory now :'( btw I think there is a 240z with rb20det on carsales or eBay. Bit rough but for 8k it's not a bad deal. With leftover dosh I'm sure it can scrub up well.

Welcome! Nice celica. Always had a soft spot for those. But being Nissan/datsun freak I never got into toyotas. Like the JDM look of urs. As for ur questions there are few post in the forum plus google. Lots of blogs outlining little differences. Preety much like the lica the s1 240z had few different body changes like rear hatch wents non reclining seats etc.. The later are fairly similar. The later 260z came in two seater and 2+2 4 seater bodies. The main difference being 2.6l engine instead of 2.4 different dash and center console, seats and rear lights the last of the 260z had few changes compared to the earlier ones. Ie door locking mechanisms and interior changes. In short 2 seaters 240 and 260z look identical on the outside while 260z 2+2 is bit stretched 30cm longer. Take some time searching through the forum it will all make sense in few weeks

spent some time looking at wazregister. looking at numbers seems to be a second half 1970 car as some u guys sugested. that is good enough for now till i get time to those gauges and check some stamps out. in regards to colour. does it devalue if it gets repainted in any other stock colour from that year. ie: instead of mustard to be red or silver or better leaving it in original colour? not a big fan of the mustard colour. though seen pics of clean ones and looks ok.

thanks nzeder. i didnt think the 260z will suit plus mine is bent a fair bit from the accident so need to get one regardless. did some more research in determining the year. went slightly different angle. still got the original plates on the car which are RGV 100 the RAA 000 plates have been issued in 1966. this makes it 722,100 (if i did my aplhabet right) registered car since 1966... now how many cars they register per year is anyones guess. im going to try email the rego department if they know the date this plate has been registered. hopefully we get the date that it got registered.

wow quick replies guys. well i em down and pissed off daily for not being in my z. but being out of the game no way love my S30's hence y i want to save this one to bring the numbers up again. the price well i allready own it! price i paid was $400. Mick u right she needs bit of work but if i spend another 3k in materials to get the body rust free its still worth it. Dalee if the car is getting resurected she be returned to original as close as possible. got most parts allready but missing: door trims one door glass bonnet chrome strips on the roof door chrome strips door handles center console gearbox speedo and tacho. carby and air box Cowl infront of windscreen. most parts be easily bought besides S1 series console may be bit of a trouble. as i got also the 2/72 #1860 which most probably will end up with the running gear from the 260z , zg flares and massive rims. and will get the same colour as the 260z had and will probably retian the rbz260 plates on it. dont think that plate deservs to die yet this will be long project and will be inline after the mustang and the 72 240z. initaly was bought as parts car for 72 but with bit of work i think i could save this one. bring it back to original what i think it deserves being the early car with matching number engine still in there. besides the rust the panels are very straight. no body filler anywhere. just deteriated original paint.

hi guys instead of hogging the other post i thought i create a new one. hoping the authentication/history gurus like MR. Camouflage, Lynton, hS30 etc.... and everyone else can help figure this out. since my misfortune with the 260z and one zed gone to the graveyard i thought it may be worth while resurecting another one and not killing it for parts. the car in question is #227 engine number: L24018162 the car is in original condition. no previous paint layers still on original layer. no accident repairs that i can see the body is in failry straight besides the usual trouble rust spots. few interesting facts is that it has fender mirror holes but have been plugged with plastic caps look like nissan items. these caps are exact outline as the genuine fender mirrors in Japan as it can be seen in the pics. has no ADR plate so i assume its pre 72 but would like to figure if its the 70 or 71. it has all the usual s1 tell tales. like vented rear hatch and sealed rear 1/4. different inspection flaps, non reclining seats. non retractable belts. no tool box holes in the back. if it is "special" i was thinking bringing this old girl back to original or as close as i can get to original without going banckrupt in the process. i had a another look at it on the weekend to see if its repairable and if worth doing so. besides the normal rust in both floors around roof and rear 1/4 area sill panels and rear slam panel and tailgate the rest is in not bad condition. the doors are usable same as guards. front end has no rust whatsoever and chasis rails are straight and rust free. it will take some work replacing the floors seals and roof skin but other than that seems to me its not a total goner. i tried finding stamps but they all seem to have deteriated and not visible. i will try to remove the gauges and see if there is any visible stamps with codes for u guys to decode. im hoping its something different and more special due to fender mirror holes/plugs. as i havent seen one like it. here are some pics for now

Thanks Mr C. No compliance plate on this one just the datsun plate and no sign of ever existing on the car. I'll try remove few things under dash see if I can see any stamps. Be interesting as the car has no evidence of previous repairs original 1 coat of paint. My 72 is no fun it's complied 2/72 on the ADR plate.

guys not sure if this helps but i had my old rego label on of my #227 in my wallet so chassis number #227 and engine number is L24018162. it is series one with fender mirrors (well mirrors are missing but have these plastic plugs covering the holes) i will check for some stamps next time im around the car. the car seems fairly original even though few parts are missing. be interesting if it is special than i may give it a new life as a stocker if not moding he we go.

Yeah im recovering almost as good as before physicaly. I had to remove 260z pictures from my PC and fone desktops as it was making me very angry and guttered. it kept reminding me of the current state of the car. updates their insurance assesor came to have a look. Great guy and understanding. Hes into classic cars himself hence the reason he was sent. Though he said it will be hard finding a car resembling the value of mine as there arent many for sale and being more unique with the work put into it. he said he will do research and offer that will make me "happy" though i did say no offer will make me happy i just want my car fixed as good as it was before. He doesnt want to make an offer that I will refuse as that will cost the insurance lot more for re-evaluation. he said he get back to me in 2 days. well now we looking at 5 workin days and no phonecall... im asuming hes working hard at that offer. will give time till mid next week than if no contact may have to chase it up.

i wonder if insurance will buy that one for me to replace mine? Sul ill point them in ur direction LOL.

thanks guys and sirpent thanks for the tip. ill pm you for more details. the car i scurrently insured through shannons but 3rd party. they werent interested in looking at the case unless the other party hasnt got insurance. when i got the quote for sull sight unseen about 2 years ago they agreed value with incomplete interior was 16k. i prob give them another call to see if i can get the pre loss value from them. I still want to keep the wreck and reuse the goodies on the 240z. even though i had different plans for that one but circumstances change but it will speed up the rebuild on the 240z considerably. thats if the engine survived. it was a damn good clean engine so be pissed if its stuffed. due to my neck pain from the whiplash i still havent seen the car since it got droped at my parents place shortly after the accident. still got to solve few mysteries like where did my ray bans disapeared after the impact. they were on my head. but now nowhere to be found. another boring day laying still all day in bed . what a waste of time. absolute torcher as im type of person that cant rest more than 30min have to go and tinker with something. thank god for iphone at least i can reply to u guys.

GRRRR NOT MY day at all ive allready typed it all than the forum post crashed so here i go again. Thanks for the support guys. after a very rough nite things dont seem much different than yesterday if not bit worse. I got very sore neck leg and my left wrist. the wrist is hurting due to me holding the gearstick during the crash and cleanly snapped it off the gearbox and my hand plowing through the cd player adding a black nail to my finger. also my left leg squashed the headlight reminder box that was under the dash beyond recognition. have a seatbelt rash and for some reason (havent figured yet how) im limping on my right leg. Just got back from the DR. as besides the black nail and the little scratch on the leg i was fine after the accident. though now different story. Im stuck at home with strict orders not to move or go to work till i have another check up on friday. now to the accident part. won't reveal too many details as yet till things sort out but in a nutshell i was in right lane guy came out of the side street cutting me off and me going straight into him. police said he be charged with failing to give way. as u can see per pics the car is pretty stuffed. also u can see the pic of the lancer. what will happen to it will see ill will keep the wreck regardless. and then il asses what to do with it when all this is over. for a second there during the slow mo i wished i was in newer car as i thought ithis is going to hurt. thankfully to some 6m LOL of bonnet lenght the Z kept me safe and cabin seem fairly intact. so old z is still very strong and fairly safe car at least in frontal collisions
