  1. this car was originaly for sale on ebay few years ago before i bought my 240z when i was hunting one down.. it was listed and i was interested in getting it but the seller pulled it off and said he relist it again at later stage. that never happend till few month ago the same car but somewhat cleaned up. ie new paint and cleaned out interior. looks good. i dont mind that green. not a fan of vinyl roofs but doesnt look too bad. good luck to him.

    DOH!!!!!

just be lucky u didnt decide to light up a cigarete. than u be flying 007 ejector seat style.
  3. nice work sirpent. that gnose should look sweet. may even put an order for one. good to see that some even "finished" cars like Craigs beast there are more plans in the future for improvments. i havent even finished mine 100% no door trims or center console or rear covers but ive allready scheduled some big changes for it. i dont think ill be able to take mine to 250km/h cause even at 190km/h (done in controlled invironment like Craigs test...... ) the front does feel floaty. i do have a upgrade in the plans for a bigger front spoiler hoping to keep the nose bit more down. funny i also had a look at few round sloping headlights that may fit in the headlight cones. though none cheap. i had a look at new mini ones, daewoo matiz, dodge neon. saying that i never got one to see how close it will look. which porsche are we talking about craig? the 997? ouch in $$$ if that one. i want to improve the look of the 2+2 without going to flares (saving them for the 240) not a big fan of body kits (most a freaking ugly anyway) but may go the old fashioned moding hot roding and improving the troubled lines of the 2+2. big job but have the parts and tools just need to find the time. dont want it to look like something else still want it to be recognised as Z. but still cause lot of confusion among the Z community. so keep an eye out on my re-rebuild in few months.
  4. congrats on your wedding. Been to Dubrovnik quite a few times. it was our summer holiday hot spot for years (when i lived in old Yugoslavia it was few hrs drive from where we used to be). one of the best places along the coast. good choice.
  5. hey dat392. can you spill some beans in regards to your engine specs and cost. ie what was the standard block 351w ? comp ratio, any extra strenght increasing parts etc..... im trying to figure the best approach for my mustang motor. i do want it EFI and twin hairdriers. was thinking 302 Au3 and decomp it to suit but hearing mixed stories about strenght of these. 351 is better apperently. cheers for any info
  6. Greg should change the title to Re: Intercooler on NA L28 and other Fuels.
  7. Blurat on my car sr20det with avgas left evrythign as it was. the ecu will readjust itself after few kms. so runs crapish for a while than it improves.so on older type cars and carbs im assuming u need to check the timing, plugs and improve compression to get most advantage out of it. with c16 i adjusted bit more timing 1deg from memory and slightly more boost. still max 16psi. my norm was 1bar at 14.7psi. after that experiment i ran 98 with 20% tol mix till price of petrol started going through the roof. so boost was reduced from 16psi down to 14.7 and ran 98 from than on. also few changes were made afterwards like bigger intercooler so it was safe to run the higher boost. but never felt the way it did with 98/20%tol mix nor the C16. C16 i only used it once and at back than at 12 PL was steep but lets say 10L of it for a drag nite to improve the times would be worth the money. pitty the time i experimented with it. wasnt on the track. bastards closed it. so never got any numbers to back it up. all i know that my mates s14 did 12.9 @ 108mph and he beet me about a 1/2 car lenght maybe 1 car dependign how well he hooks up. when i experrimented with c16 was the other way around 1car maybe tad more me being ahead so definetly worked. saying that it will be expensive to run your car daily on it. for street use 98+20%Tol is cheaper alternative for sure. even i think with avgas. avgas i was paying 2.30per liter thats when 98 was around 87c i think. also was pain to fill the avgas as pump had the bigger nozle wouldnt fit in the unleaded tank hole. made plastic attachment but the guy was bit worried due to insurance so than had use petrol cans so became a pain. once the track reopens im definetly taking the Z .first run on street spec and 98 than with jungle juice brew .than after that removing all the unnecessary weight ie seats spare wheel etc. no exhaust, deflated tyres or realy stiky street tyres (more grip) ... and run with 98+20% to see the improvments.
  8. wax we not going into arguments LOL its just a discussion obviously we all had bit of play with different jungle juices with same or similar experiences. i got to agree with you with 98+ 20% toluene. its better than avgas. so as c16. but 98 +20% toluene is prob most cost effective out of all the fuels expecialy these days. avgas being a pain to get hold off and wasnt cheap back when u can get it fairly easy. the short period i used avgas vs BP98, avgas was better but yeah my oxy sensor died shortly after. tried c16 and wow, but wow on the pocket too. last time i bought some was almost 12per liter and that was few years ago. 98+20%tol was lot more cost effective and wont kill oxy sensors. but todays prices of 98 + add the cost of Toluene it adds up quite a bit for a street car used daily. so I detuned and stays on 98... experimentation in fuel gave me that bit more advantage vs cars with more hp than me. same car similar mods but i had stock turbo runing 15psi my mates hks gt3540 runing at 12psi. with pump fuel he would clean me up. once i "cheated" with c16 and tables turned around he was pissed as he though something was wrong with his car but couldnt figure what. it was worth the $$$ seeing his disapointed face. so no arguments. i think discussion was more that avgas was better than 98 but there are alternatives which are better than avgas. all cool (some say he will lock threads just becuse its raining outside. all we know him by is Lurch)
  9. nah there are manual ones as well. seen a stock burgundy one with cream leathers and was manual. also one of my mates cousin has one too. that was manual but than converted to auto. lots of mods and HP. very quick street/drag car. kinda waste for a californian. but hey his car.
  10. shouldn't sell it George :'( its a wicked car i even seen it on other forums people using it as their dream car. i think was in one of the US forums. so it is a very cool and unique car. just enjoy it more. pihh clubman=motorbike with 4 wheels safety just as good. temporary australian. one guy from adelaide raced clubmans and he bought himself a 240z recently for historic racing. so there are people going the other way... but be patient the right buyer will come. maybe add neg or drop the price slightly to help the cause but i wouldn't.
  11. Scando looks like you be getting some free HP in your mail
  12. no promises as im flat out this week but i see what i can do. so from blackwood (about 20min from me) to ? which friendly transport company. have u tried these guys they pick it up. good rates expecialy if online buyer ie: ebay member. used them few times no hassles at all. prob cheapest transport of bulkier stuff around aus. http://www.smartsend.com.au
  13. lucky B@#%D im not a type that likes to travel and see the world. i rather just spend it on my own world here and my toys. BUT saying that Japan and US will be the only place i realy want to go and check out becuse of the cars mainly. Im lucky as my missus friend is japanese so hopefully when we manage the time and $$ she be helping us or her father as he is a big car nut himself. talking to someone like her father that has driven a hakosuka GTR when was new and owned a 240ZG in japan was highlite of my life .pitty his son/daughter don't share the same passion for jap performance cars as it would be good help showing us around Tokyo car scene.than again i think the experience and stories of their old man are interesting how things were in japland some 40 years ago when he was young. I just hope her old man is in Japan when we decide to go. enjoy it and make sure u take lot of pics for us dreamers here to see. make sure u visit one of the late session drift drag nites in the hills or industrial area and again take lots of videos and pics.
  14. welcome to the nuthouse. mate your car, build what u be happy with and what u want. theres plenty of stockies around here for the trailers and museums its not like its only 500 of these things made in the world. lot more than that.. though if not planning to keep it for long than maybe be better play it safe and have it somewhat original make it at least easier to sell afterwards. if u dont plan to sell it go wild at least fullfill your dream. even if they do reach some extra collectable level even the modified ones will get a bit of a kick in its value. i personally like modded and suped up cars. but there are people that dont. so u get a mixed bunch responding to your question and u end up at the same point where u started. to help u a bit without being biased: Look at the car. Has it got original matching number engine? Is the interior mostly complete in reasonable condition and no mods ie hard to find items in suprisingly good condition? is it fairly rust free ie structural and hard to repair areas (doors and guards bonnet no biggie)? anythign else special about it ie low number chasis, wierd factory options ie fender mirrors vertical demister, stainless headlight covers etc...? if u got YES to about 50% of those questions i would definetly say rebuild to stock and leave it stock. otherwise if it has an l26 or l28 its allready modded even though at glance u cant notice. rusty cars or ones with sunroofs can be repaired but it will chew most of your funds and u run dry before u know it chasing those hard to get parts. chasing correct parts it can be very exy and time consuming. now for the biased part : for about same $$$ or less u can build a road warrior that will eat cars in the price tag 10time of your z. it will eat your bellowed muscle cars in straight line and in the twisty stuff. i like muscle cars too but mostly for their toughness and sound that comes at the back of it.problem is they are expensive to buy and modify unlike our Z at this time. paying 1k for rusty Z is nothing compared to paying 10k for equivalent rust box thats made in USA and guess what they still modify them.
  15. wicked! lucky you.
  16. well said zedophile. and an easy test liek u suggested to see the improvment if u dont feel the difference. if u dont feel the differnce on your car u dont deserv to drive a performance car but a barina. i notice in any of my cars when i fill "bad" batch of ultimate98. i only fill up on selected bp stations where i havent experinced "bad" batch. as for AVGAS not making power you obviously havent used it. not only it makes power (talkin EFI turbo) it does more kms per liter. i had avgas (for few weeks) in my S14. "special" cat fitted not only the car made power (after its learn was established some 50kms or so) it was smoother. the difference between the two fuels on same boost setting was ubelivable. with 98 in 2nd ill get a little slide in one direction. on avgas i was trying to keep it straight and away from the gutters. problem being late model car and white crap on the iside of the exhaust instead of black was a easy giveaway that its running illegal fuel. also plays havoc on exhaust not to say it killed the oxy sensor. at the time avgas was about 2.25pl compared to 90c for 98. but did it smell good oh my god. felt i was driving a 10sec v8 drag car that wondered out on the street late at night . though not good to smell it health wise. BTW if u had a cat it would calopse and weld itself pretty quick as it is leaded fuel. tried c16 and had same and better effect but 4-6 per L its only for racing. tolulene is the cheaper alternative but not as good as c16 or avgas. for carbs u need to retune and obviously timing as suggested above. another reason i love efi and learining ecus .they adjust accordingly to what u feed them with and what the external parameters are. got to love the sr20det.
  17. cheers Alan, like you explanation. to me sounds believable, pretty much most car companies (as well as non car) do that even today. its just logical. blah HLS30 was the first one just because yanks think they so freaking special i work in a bigger company (ok its not a car company) and use serial numbers for our products. same story as with S30 usualy the first serial numbers have their quirks. most of the #1 to #20ish end up as test units at the factory and maybe few end up as field trials. its not till some later prob 20+ units start getting sold to public.Beleive it or not we also export to USA and they get their special models (110V mains) with new serial numbers. but guess what AUS and NZ were the firts to have it. im still failing to see the big hoora about owning car #1 or car #500 that rolled off the line maybe days appart. pending on options they are the same freaking car. im preety sure my #227 is same as someone elses #100 or #447 and #16 that ive only seen in the realy early number here. same quirks... got even the original engine, vented hatch with optional vertical dimmer thats is still operational, fender mirrors etc...... Oh BTW did i say its getting an SR20DET conversion, flares, Bride seats, etc........ (hiding behind blast shield door and ) to me the last one made is more special all the crap is kinda fixed and its the LAST car and no more after it period. nobody does end of line testing to knock your "special" numbered car. now if some has a cool story about number #1 432R ill be very interested to read about it how they found #1 car.
  18. SLACKER! on the link after reading 8+ pages of i personaly dont see the point of having the earliest car beside some fantasy its worth few extra quid more. well it is cause there are few that are obsessed at owning the lowest number car... its like after footy in the shower rooms arguing whos got a bigger #@#!$ck just this one is whos got a lower number. its like: "Oh mines number 23 yeah but i got no 15 etc..... its still a freaking Z and it looks the same as number 23,56 or 500. if it was number 13 out of 13 fair enough but not 13 out of 500000+ sure still a good find but it ain't 432R to get me all tingly sorry.
  19. LOL i remember when that came out and one of the doosh bags i know started telling people that what happens when nos gets used blue flames at the back and ulike in some warp speed everythign goes blue infront of you. i slaped him and told him to jump of a building for saying that as he will do rest of us justice him not being around. Galderdi what u been takin or talking to someone that has been taking some good stuff to come up with these wierd ideas lately LOL 4stroke to 2 stroke and this anyway not going to go into detials what happens its been said above but to add to RB30X comment about raming air into LS1 for better pperformance is quite true and been around for last 35+ years. Camaros, firebirds, mustangs corvettes etc.... all had this in the hot days of muscle car wars back in the mid 60s and early 70s. u win a race on sunday people buy it on monday. they refered to as RAM Air and it proven to give approx 5mph and reduce the time by 0.25s on the 400m not bad for putting a hole in the bonnet and adding a scoop for fresh colder and somewhat forced air.Thats in a very "aerodynamic" (NOT) 69 Mustang. though that NA "intercooler" on civic (had to be civic) sure looks from a distance as an intercooler. that perpex cover with small holes kinda defeats the purpose of it... Im sure that cost a fair bit but u get lot better performance with a decent pod placed in the right location and lot of leftover dosh to spend on tune and better jungle juice to increase power. none mentions fuel in increasing power... put some avgas or c16 and see how it goes than
  20. poor Z :'(
  21. yeah the new ford cobra daytona a concept i think for the mighty ac shelby cobra. here is some more pics and link http://www.gotbroken.com/2005-ford-shelby-gr1-concept-with-aluminum-body Mick i think the reason for posting this car is more for the colour.not that s30 to look like a cobra. it be bit ugly dont like the front of it
  22. ;D guys .. talk about drivers risk and stupidity sure im not an angel but when i realy want to rip it up i end up going where no ones around late at night usualy in industrial areas with wide roads and no stobie polls to hit. it usualy ends up me calling my mates to bring a car trailer as i blew the diff or the gbox... now bit older wouldnt say wiser but more of a tight arse seem to slowed down a fair bit. but still wont give up a good fight. anyway talking about old fart drivers since stevo almost got cleaned up i had one yesterday trying to climb though the back of my zed in his falcon. he was maybe 20cm from my rear bar if that. all i could see is the damn bonnet in my rear view mirror. kept crawling forward to give more room guess what the bastard does than..... yep closes in again. traffic moved and hes right up there. still having the brake lights on to warn him, and nope dont work still up my arse. gave it a squirt than mashed the brakes. that got his eyes open but still kept 20cm away from my z. got out of the car and walked up to him and said: "excuse me sir do you need glases while u driving" he like "no" i replied :" maybe u should cause u dont see u about to drive ur car in the back of mine. do you mind keeping the distance". got back to my car and waited for the lights. that didnt work but had a massive clearance in front and there were some loose stones accros the road. so droped the clutch didnt get near me after that freaking stuborn old man.
  23. if u reffering to the top pic its new ford cobra... (NOT a moded Z Mick) in chrome paint. the lower one was obvious a r34 GTR i like chrome paint as well but the bitch will be maintenance and durability. repairs on such colour would be nitemare. i got some of it and have experimented slightly with it. had the procedure all the wrong way so will try again looks promising. i see how it turns out. if ok the 240z may be going down that path.
  24. oooo now i get how certain mystery happend. pitty didn't see the details but i can see the picture... to tell you the truth im with Lurch on his decision as i felt pretty much the same way. i know im draggin it out from the past and known to stir few things up. also most times the topic moves from the initial subject quite easily and i admit i do it myself. but not intentialy. anyway another thing that i have to get of my chest. whats with the negativity on other forums/sites about Jap performance cars... in particular muscle car forums baggin the crap out of Import Ricer Cars as they commonly known within the muscle car group. me think they scared and they have their horse blinkers on.
  25. geez i forgot about this thread... cant believe it got to 7th page lol got lot of reading to do now. erm who cares if they dont wear a helmet. obviously they stupid enough and dont see what can happen. just hope he doesnt land on my car it could be a messy clean up for me later... same goes for seatbelts. also what i just read on the last few pages. occasional heat keeps forums interesting till senior sargent Lurch stops it before gets out of hand. so even sometimes he does spoil the fun but its for the good of this forum and its members... Lurch i know ive been bad boy few times but hey i got to make ur job bit more interesting too.. hence i created this thread so it kinda helps people vent off. now for catching up to see what happend
