  1. ive inherited my old mans 170amp mig thats approx 15years old. use argoshiled light for the gas. do have different size rollers, inner sheet for 0.6, 0.8, 0.9 and 1mm also welded stainless steel with it and fairly thick plates. look for Duty cycle % to be higher if going to be doing prolonged welding ie making your front fence or a gate. most are around 20% to 35% for non heavy industrial models. mine is bulky unit but for car and around the home its good enough. though showing its age now im looking at upgrading soon. most prob will go for cigweld around 200A. personaly gasless are useless and i will never buy one. i guess going from gas to gasless needs some getting used to but so much easier with gas. gas bottle rental is around 170 per year for E size bottle from BOC with 1 full charge for the first year. recharge is around $70-80. should last you a fair bit depending on welding. i use mine fairly regualarly one bottle is fine per year, but some years i did get up to to three refills. also auto darkening visors are to me a MUST. makes the whole thing so much easier expecialy if u novice. not to say it will save your eyes.1 flash is all that is needed to have a very very sleepless and painfull nite. it feels like somone filled your eyes with sand and rubbed it in. when u close eye lids feels like u running sandpaper accross them constantly. so if in for a torcher or have a third arm dont get one
  2. ive been doing this for long time and kinda settle on one colour than i see something else that looks even better. than the whole process starts again. and guess what still havent decided the colour i want. though Z is easy. almost all colours have been done and most are on the net.but i know u want to be different. same here but sometimes is safer to go with colour that looks good than experiment with something that u goin to hate after short period of time or its going to go out of fashion. Ie chamelion coloures. looked cool at the time now they look like crap. expecialy on a Z. though im looking at colours that compliments the car. i dont care if someone is going to see it or not. good old japanese saying " a nail that sticks out gets hammered" so true with cars. u car sticks out u get local farm animals on to you all the time, thieves, little school brats etc.........
  3. ;D ;D ;D ;D lol @ the disclaimer.
  4. nice zed another Scott and another silver 240. whats with that its getting scary. i searched for this when u replied to someone elses post and ur username got me ticking over. 68GTCS is that your other car? wouldnt be 68 mustang GT California Special? if im wrong i may need to keep clear from mustang sites for a while. LOL
  5. thats the one that was here. the one that was ment to go down $1k every day till sold.
  6. lol poor guy on a different note. SPAWN like ur signature.
  7. yeah but its good for us that have them and were thinking of selling to me makes no diff wont be selling neither one of them. than again right figure anything is for sale. as for z32 z33 drivers well cant say that many notice the old S30 in SA. they seem so........ erm erm whats the word "STUCK up" here. occasionaly u get one or two want to have a go but they quickly put their tails between their legs when the old s30 leaps ahead of them ahh nothing nicer than shutting them off an looking at their faces later on. perfect kodak moment.
  8. mate i know how you feel. felt like crap when my RX4 was on back of a flat bed and driving away. though give it few days it will wear off. expecialy if u buying a new project seems to get out of your system quicker. does this mean u can keep the z or it has to go as well?
  9. my bet is the new r35 gtr will be the hot on the classic when it gets old enough from nissan stable. its stiring a fair bit as it is claims quicker than 911. few wins at the track and it will be set for sure. other than that the Monster 300C SRT will be up there in the classic range. not a big fan of big yanks but the 300c does look tough. the new mini seems to hold their price well even being for sale for few years now. could be a contender. expecaily the cooper s supercharged version.
  10. LOL this is almost comedy. anyway for whats it worth i still want to see what these jap cars are worth and if can be sent over here. to me as a buyer i need to know what im buying. i need to do research myself. if im silly to buy something that i dont know anything about well thats my funeral. few key things buying cars online.and i bought quite a few. a. PICTURES always look lot better than it actualy is b. dont get too attached.bid or offer with your brain not heart.if something looks dodgy it probably is. c. if possible have a look at the car your self if not expect nasty suprises factor that in your price. there is a story how a prominent figure bought a expensive muscle car and not doing his research properly and being disatisfied about it few rumors have emerged the car is fake etc to get his money back.... possibly is but maybe just wasnt up to scratch who knows and personaly dont care. I dont blame the auction house or who ever did the research if u dumb enough to give lot of your supposedly hard earned cash for something u dont know about well stiff. do your homework better. dont rely on someone else to do it for you while you sit on your arse drinking tea while someone does the hard yards for ya. anyway i still want hs30 around and doudus so i hope u two can coexist just hopefully lot less carnage. yeah a rb26det be nice in that skyline. if they fitted an l28 im sure rb will fit too. somewhow bit of push and tuck here just like in the cartoons. hihihihihih
  11. looking good anyone got a "fairladyz" one for Galderdi to copy? as i will take two sets from ya if u make a copy. good work.
  12. dough i wan ta tow bar on mine. 1. reason so i can bring stuff in my box trailer. 2. killing my neighbourhood kids knee caps. sick of their hands all over the car. 3. stoping wankers trying to park close to the car. 4. to save the rear bar. it cost me too much. lol
  13. hmm if house was paid off prob looking at buying a porsche for a rebuild. or maybe 40k in new set of tools, hoist, chasis straightener, maybe a dyno ahh dream home workshop
  14. welcome to the forum. i was going to say call nissan but be prepared to pay over 700 but 260Coupe got there first. otherwise wait till someone responds to your post. prob will be good idea to put your location in as well before Lurch and Stevo get on to you.
  15. got to agree with Locky. anything with big cult status at the time. Also some cars that are low in numbers not necesseraly popular just forgotten. ie holden/isuzu Piazza. crap car but fetching bit of money now as they are getting rare. big 740i BMW coupe. Than wrx series expecialy the 2 door Sti variant. also evo lancers and typeR series Hondas. s13 to s15 due to the drifiting scene as said above. also as Locky said above the old sprinter corrola are fetching big $$$ who would think before drifting scene started u had massive troubles getting rid of sprinter now can get enough of them. probably rx7 and supra NSX will be in their own with GTRs OZ cars the new monaros and most of the hsv FPV badged cars Xr turbo falcons and prob XRs as well as holdens SV series. i think VL Calais series will be very collectable expecialy the rare ones like the last series and turbo models. sorry AC as for chrome bars and etc and simplicity.... well sorry to say but that has died in early 80s. and prob wont come back ever. thats what people said for 1960s cars compared to 1920. geez were they wrong.times change and meaning of classic as well.classic will eventaly become vintage so its just matter of time. like it or not modern cars will become classic. just in their own right. i think my s14 will be classic one day. I had it for long time. though i never plan to sell it its a brilliant car it goes it stops it handles and doesnt look shabby and most of all its RWD. its the modern version what Z should be light, powerfull and fun to drive. and yes u can still work on it easily just got to think past the carbies. i think most of the top of the line "special" models will be collectable at some stage. ie if u buying a bmw get an M3 cause evreything else devalues at alarming rate after 5years same as mercs get AMG yes u pay for it more but at least it worth it if u want to keep it for longer. ie 6cyl 328 bmw is around 10k same year m3 is at 30K+ if u can find one. new price it was like 15% more for the M. another example XR falcons are around 15k. non xr is around 10K new price diff maybe 3k. at the end there is no writen rule. some cars become classics cause they were cult cars. some becuase they rare and exotic some becuse they were a great car and some that were crap. kinda covers all corners. geez i must be bored at work didnt realise how much crap i wrote.
  16. I can vouch for Adelaide Jap Dismantlers. they sell quality stuff and most times they have what u want. price is not the cheapest but they won't sell you crap so its worth the extra $. ill get few more up and running from SA just need to get all the details.
  17. no 00016 wasn't that on ebay? maybe a year or so at some ridiculus price well started low around 3-5k than got put up to 25k. also was it painted white but original i think was different. no i may be confusing the issue with another low numbered car i should have the pics somewhere to put it to rest.
  18. bit bored at work and since i need to do few fixes on the 260z i though it will be time for make over # 2 for my 260z 2+2 in near future. here is my dodgy Paint photoshoping skills on my 260z. Sulio hope u dont mind me borowing your flares at glance u wont notice the changes but there are quite a few and still few more to come but i think ill be happy with the result. so whats on the table. #1 getting rid of the sunroof for good. YAY #2 removing all the door locks and door handles (eat your hearts out thieves ) #3 custom rear 1/4 windows adapting 2 seater ones into the 2+2 ones never liked that top curve always preffered the style of the 2 seater ones. #4 removing the fuel filler cap and hiding it behind the number plate #5 ZG flares and wider rims #6 front spoiler update plus few more other bits i may adapt from the 240z to realy confuse the situation what car it is.
  19. lucky at my oldies place have good negihbours plus bribing them to do light work for free buys u trouble free neighbourhood. though i still try to be somewhat a good neighbour and dont start too early or work too late. there was one that was living down the street just moved in and complained about paint smell but my old man told him where to go. never had issues since and he still living there. sinc emy old man passed away ive taking on the work on cars. sometimes i can be very noisy and been painting cars almost at 10pm. no one cared. the place im livign surrounded by senior citizens. both cars are loud as and shacke the walls. one did bitch about it but told him he has good hearing for an old fart and that im impressed. he laughed and never mentioned it again. he did complan about lawn cutting and few specs of "my grass flew over his driveway" again i told him to relax and if it bothers him to clean it himself cause im not going to stand over his driveway and waiting for wind to blow a small leaf over his driveway so i can clean it for him. though the new place will be interesting. surrounded by 5 neighbours. 2 rentals one unoccupied and one old greek/italian couple = pain..... so far no one complained about the noise but even if they do once they prove im being noisy after certain times on a dB meter than they can complain. otherwise stay out of my way. and that will go for the boys/girls in blue too. go catch some crooks and stop wasting time about few hammer noises.
  20. ill take prob one or two sets as well. getting them black just add black pigment as mentioned by acf. guys at work did som eplastic mouldings using silicone and latex. they just added the pigment. though u can prob make it out of silicone too maybe cheaper??
  21. yeah shouldnt be impossible. im planning on using s15 lower arms s15 hubs and calipers with aftermarket coilover on the 240z. ive done similar on my 260z except i used mazda RX7 stuff. still original lower control arms just slightly moded. using factory rx7 strut with custom springs to adapt to 260z cap. but post pics as i think the s14/s15 arms are tad longer than the z stuff. be interesting to see how its been done.
  22. looking good. it will be a beast.
  23. it looks similar to the 260z ones. but i think the 2+2 have extra connection for the back open handle. not sure if this will be an issue on the 2 seater. prob not. i think i got two door handles not sure of condition i think they have few scratches on them. i had two rechromed and cost me $25 for both. new handles can be purchased from nissan at around $70 per handle. hopefully this weekend ill be ripping bits out of that 240z for the loom. I didnt forget you . just have heaps of things to do. as for the latches i think should have a set for you too. on sunday ill have the bits sorted out and ill take some pics for you. than decide what u want. possibly have the latch mechanism but not sure about the lock itself.need to check that out.
  24. it just clips in. though u kinda have to align it up. so liitle bit of twisting to get the speedo cable to slot into the gauge. it should just click in once aligned.
  25. u can leave the rear hatch but im guessing they will try that next. so prob good idea too weld that u as well. incase of a flat battery have a overide pull mechanism hiden somewhere around the car or under the car Another idea is have a hidden "+" terminal so u can piggy back the battery from outside and unlock the car. its pain but it will be bigger pain for person trying to break into it. a small 12V bike battery will be sufficient to get ur alarm up and runing and unlocking the doors. there is other more elaborate ways of making sure u have sufficient battery power for the central locking so u wont get into that situation. when i get another wheels on the road the my 260Z going for a makeover. first on the list getting rid of all the locks. possible even door handles. extra smooooth look like to see tha faces of the crooks when they try to stick their screw driver into non existng lock or even the handle to open the door. though unless u having bulletproof glass they still can break the glass. make sure u have strategicaly placed one or two 140dB+ internal screamers. forget the external one is waste of time. they wont last more than few seconds in the car. so a cheap alarm can be made very effective all u need is the brains module which is identical in design with most brands. they all use same inputs and have quite a few outputs which can be expanded even further. geez giving too many secrets away LOL
