welcome JB and good luck with the hunt for a 2K 240z. you will need it. ive paid 1.8k for my defected 240z 4 years ago (well now i paid 1300 since i sold the motor and gbox out of it recently) keep your eyes peeled u never know when u may come accross one.

even 2 door R33 arent worth much these days. yeah for a swap for a nice 240 u need at least R33 GTR to get anyone even half interested. i personaly wouldnt even swap it for R33 GTR . for R32GTR vpsec ill think about .

yeah prob mine won't be good for that. this one is modified to suit RBs... not saying it cant be returned to somewhat original. but it will be pain. even if its rb20DET its still go harder than the any of the L series. also mine is a running daily drive car at the moment. again may not suit your needs wogsRus.

cheers Dat the problem finding any info or experiences is somewhat limited here in OZ. u mention turbo efi v8 and Mustang in same sentence u get ur head bitten off. few guys swear and have 302 efi runing turbos on tired ED xr8 stock internal engine pumping 450hp and still going. not big boost. i was planing for next step to get a late model 302 AU with low kms. decomp it and run pair of nissan t3 style turbos at max boost of approx 12-14psi.. ill be happy with 450-500hp and 6000rpm limit is also fine. its more of a show pony with a twist of modern stuff under the hood. it be used once in a blue moon hence the reason not wanting to spend 20k + on a engine making it bulletproof. was planing to go 5.4 twin cam modular engine but too wide for the 67 mustang without the RSS kit. which is a rip off in its own.

yeah i used both chemical and sandblaster. well started with chemical and sriped the roof and all panels. fairly easy besides my bonnet which had 10 coats of 10 different types of paints. on the end i got myself a portable sandblaster unit. got some sand and went crazy over it. took time but was lot quicker than chemical. though doing it yourself u need a decent backyard and filter masks and lot of protection. made a big mess in the backyard. lot of dust and sand everywhere. im still suprissed neighbours didnt complain. so in my case i used paint striper on all flat and easily accesable panels. on hard to get i used the sandblaster.all undercarage parts were all sand/bleed blasted at mates workshop. my portable blasting machine set me back $250. i used roughly about 2L of paint striper. also took a whole weekend to do it.

from what i can see Z are quite exy for quality in japan. ive heard nice local cars going from here back to japan as the numbers there are fairly low and prices quite high. u definetly can by a better local car than the jap imported ones for sale. most ive seen sure look good from far away but ive pinpointed quite a few issues through pics.pics make it look twice as better than what it is in real. so paying 25k for half beaten Z that none wants in japan is not what i say a good deal. 25K will land u fairly hot or almost like new original 240z. those mods that appear on jap zeds are easily obtained and fitted to local. besides few monsters with RB26DETT and VH45DETT most have 3 carbs fitted. these triple carbs almost appear weekly on ebay. unless its a genuine 240ZG i wouldnt bother.

mate voted just hope some more ppl can vote to get that pacer and that charger out of the way. common auszcar lets bring the dato to first spot.

John got some bad news for ya. that 3R1 is 3 layer pearl. it has like 4 different pearls in it. also has two colours. ie u got to use light base for example white to get the brighter red or black for darker shade. than u have the red base coat a combinations of various colours including bronze. after that u have the actual colour which includes 4 different pearls with one fairly expensive one. than on top of that u got the clear. only approximate cost be roughly $150+ PL plus base. though the top red u wont need as much as the base red. The guy is my fiancee's cousin he owns a crash shop. im going to bring him a guard next week and we spray it. it be mustang guard but still should give us an idea. he also suggested to me to use ferrari red. beleive it or not even that has pearl in it. very nice red as well. if we have time we get a sample of that too. anyway i keep you posted.

hahaha i did say i was going to use it on the mustang if i like it. hihihihi not on the Z. colour is kinda secret at the moment for the 240z. and probably by the time z gets on the operating table ur car be due for another overhaul. LOL so dont worry not using that red on the Z. thanks for the tip was going to use gray base but i think it may need silver or white. ill check with paint guru to recomend the base colour. will post it (if it turns out ok) but be couple of weeks till i get around to it. sample panel be headlight cone of 260z and mustang one.

hopefully tommorow ill be getting a sample mixed up of that red. pitty wont be able to spray it till week after. ill post it up. also be experementing with another colour that hopefully will end up on the 240z.

hahahhaah Craig. though u have a point. cheaper to buy cheaper to mod and can take lot of punishemnt. unlike the fords. been doing lot of reasearch into moding windsors and clevos. and not terribly excited about it. and im a Ford guy more than Chev. Dimo. u sell me the 351 clevo so i can stick it in my Mustang than u go buy a RB25DET and stick it in the Z. or if u want V8 by VH45DE and kick arse with it. u can pick up a VH45 for around 1500 with box and wiring.

also if the bonnet latch for some reason decides to let go with rear opening bonnets nothing happens. with front it end up on your windscreen and roof. also it lot easier to work on the engine with rear opening bonnets. anything can be done. wouldnt be too hard wth few donor hinges, bonnet striker and lock. just of top of my head i prob use mazda 929 hinges (nice and small) renforce the air box so u can mount them on the firewall. than u need to modify the rad support and bonnet. adding the bonnet striker to the bonnet and fititng the latch on to the rad support. fair bit of rooting around for making it more unsafe. it has been done before check these out

that red looks awsome. have u got the paint code for it or can you get one? if u can can u pass it on please. im looking at reds as well (for the mustang) but having trouble finding what i want. this red seems to hit the spot. so i want the code to get a sample ordered and panel painted. other reds i looked at was mazda red on Rx8, 6 and 3. looks good but tad dark. BMW calipsorot is nice metalic red too. but again just tad too dark. GT40 look rear end be definetly unique. though not sure how will it suit and probably change the character of the car a fair bit. i still want my Z to be recognised as a Z and not cause too much confusion. one way to be sure on the cheap get it photoshoped and see what u think.
