  1. I'm probably not that good in helping you with choices as im strong believer in "your car you do what u want with it" but still its good to get input from others. i had the same dilemma with my 240z with original engine but colour was er pooooo. Actually its Mustard or Safari Gold. looks yuk on deteriorated car, but seen pics of some and they not bad. so at this stage I decided to stay original and to rebuild it to close to original specs. Its early 227 1970 so its kinda special. i personally don't think it will change in aspects of value but i'm sure others will argue that. as long as its one of the original color schemes shouldn't make any difference. anyway i like referring to this site for original external and interior colors. keep in mind it is US but i think early 240 and 260 ones are very close with oz delivered ones. http://www.zhome.com/History/colors.html http://zhome.com/History/ZColorGallary/index.html
  2. + 1 don't mind them Expecialy if u don't have to drill any holes to fit them. If stainless I would drill the cone to fit. Stainless version looks too cool not to fit it. but most important. if u like it than fit it. its good to get input on some things. ie fitting a veilside kit to a car should be punished by death by throwing veilside kit bits at the owner. but don't think this is that xtreeme. it make it look more streamline, may be pain with cleaning. got a set was planing to fit but never did maybe on the 240z.
  3. John gloss will look good. did that on mine so kinda biased . Also my controller was gloss so it kinda blended in quite nicely. Pitty never got to finish the center console where 3 more GTR style gauges were ment to be under the CD player.. ie Volts and Oil and gauge with warning lights ie: engine check, alt, seatbelts, alarm flasher, handbrake, fog lights etc..... oh well its almost complete so it will migrate to the 240z one day.......... keep us posted.
  4. Awsome work John, Lookin very schmick . love it. re: clock and digital climate looking odd? maybe not the word ill use... but to me looks perfect. lots of late model cars with digital climates still use analogue clocks. ie merc, audi, bmw, even the oz stuff all have same and looks great. maybe there is a link with those cars mentioned they are all luxury cars. Z is not. but to me it will look better than what 350z have a simple ugly digital clock in one of its pods. would look lot better in my opinion if it was analogue, even better replaced with a boost gauge anyway keep it up John cant wait to see some texture on it.
  5. FWD Celica in that list! no offense great car but don't think should be there. how about Supra, MR2, Silvia, old RX cars. RX2,RX3,RX4 R100. agree having top 10 is hard. too many cool cars from Japan.
  6. Awsome Maygz. good work. Enjoyed reading it and can't wait to see more. Also the generosity of this community still amazes me. u guys keep me in the light in the dark tunnel i'm at the moment regarding Z. all i can do now is read other ppls progress and keep the inspiration alive. cant wait to see pics of the group work.
  7. Looking good John. Like the Legnum climate controller. RE: vents looks like a reasonable good fit with minimal mods. like it a lot. i've done something similar with mine but few traps to look out for: 1. the sealing between the a/c and the vents has to be reasonable. do u have the back part of those vents? if u do, u can graph that into the 260z one. having a boost gauge there may complicate things in this department. 2. check the angels of the vents. 260z side vents are hopeless as u cannot angle it further than height of the shoulders. check the movement on those and airflow. stick a hair drier or some sort of fan to test the angles. 3. Boost gauge may be bit too low and somewhat dangerous when driving/looking. I suggest having it at the top and move maybe fuel gauge or clock into that spot. 4. if that's gets too complex look at the S15 200sx vents. may not look as classy as those but they easily fitted/adapted and have good angles. can't wait to see it done. it will look damn good. Just don't give up when gets tad complex. take few days off and answer will come to you lot simpler than u think. u keeping the 260z a/c behind (Condensor/heater core ,flap mechanism) or trying to update with more modern item?
  8. thanks benny for the converter link. look into that. hope its not too pricey otherwise defeats the purpose may as well just get the fanatec wheel.
  9. Borrow, beg, steal, work it off etc LOL but on serious note ... ash has summed up well +1
  10. advice TRY before u buy. go to someones place that u know who has it and have a play with it. I'm a GT fanatic got them all from original PS1 to PS2 and GT4. my second xbox360 conviniently died around the launch of GT5. So I thought enough of microtoss and dodgey design getting PS again and GT5 was all excited. spent bit of time deciding PS3slim vs xbox 360 slim GT5 VS Forza 2 and 3 and 4 coming out this year. my cousin bought PS3/GT5 bundle and I borrowed it for few days. week later went and bought Xbox360 with kinect and back in Forza. Very very disapointed with GT5 after all these years and big hipe, big deal 1000+ cars when 500 of them are simply junk waste of MB.oh yeah and still no porsches ( i know there is RUFs but ain't the same) . This is also reflected in reviews. forza 2 and 3 all score almost perfect 10 while gt5 is struggling between 7 and 8. i would rate it 5. just a bigger version with better graphics of 4. no real improvment. occasionaly it decides to freeze to upload data and usualy when u around a corner doing high speed. next thing wall. not happy. Also 432R fairlady Z looks so much better than 240zg. And u can dump a SR20 or RB26 in it if for some silly reason S20 wasn't good enough yeah u dont get G27 logitech for xbox but u can get Fanatec ones which are even better though bit pricey. just my 0.1c worth.
  11. Nope still the same. Kinda got side tracked with other rubbish. Been busy with new house and workshop. As soon as thats done ill be tackling the 240z. So yeah sorry not for sale 2+2 is still a good car lot more user friendly and u can take ur family for a spin as well. Cruises and meets yeah we do have. 12. Awsome. Going quite well. Looks like another bump to overcome with the awd setup Its going to be one mad Z.
  13. small world Daniel. welcome... I still have the 72 240z I got of you. The 260z 2+2 I was rebuilding at the time I bought yours was 95% complete driven it for 3 years than got wrecked last year. long story. so next project is the 240z with another RB transplant and few other bits. Seems like u been very busy in last few years. two kids Good to see you still around Z. Johnny
  14. Hmm maybe not if u had rego plates. I saw you this morning on grand junction rd than on pt wakefield..I was right behind you in a dark blue z32 300zx Didn't realise it was you. Hope u dont mind i took few pics Nice car it was my drool sesion. good start to the day.
  15. Still very stressful John. Got lot more gray hairs now than ever before. In court round 2 at the moment. Once all finished ill post it all up so people know what to watch out for. Its more than 12months since the dreaded day. Just been busy with all of it lately and keeping away from forums. Gets bit depressing seeing all u guys getting well into finishing the projects and I have to start from square #1 again. After depression goes away than motivation kicks in after reading some of the build threads. Can't wait to start the 240Z build but at the moment the Z32 Fairlady Z keeps me entertained. Also can't wait to see your AMG monster in the S30 bay so when is the engine coming over? cheers Johnny

  23. welcome mate and good luck on the hunt.
  24. carpet does include inner part of door seals, tunnel front and rear part of it, front rear floor. rear part bellow the rear seat. and the part that goes to the boot and back seat. condition. as u can see in pics. it like new with holes put through for seatbelts and and other bolts that required.i had floor mats on top of the carpet to protect it even more so no wear on it. the back boot carpet show little bit of discolourisation in the center as u can just see on the pic. it will came with all the insulating foam used for leveling and hard plastic board to keep the floor mats nice and flat. 1/4 window seals were new and sold. rear bar as new. had it re-chromed. chroming alone cost me over $250. havent decided if im going to sell it or not. I was planning to keep the sides .it will save me the re-chroming the 240z ones.maybe center part if interested. i got few of those carpet covers. got some repairable ones and i think i had a pair that had surface rust only underneath and along the side. the vinyl is not too bad but its kinda peeling around the edges. i was going to strip them and recover with thin vinyl but never got around to it.
  25. welcome mate good to see more SA peeps joining up.
