  1. So what is the HE in the Z432HE model stand for "Hot Engine"
  2. I would have thought the easy way to tell is sandwich plate between the 2 halves of the gearbox. A 71 series (be it B or C - excluding the A as that is 3 piece design) has a steel plate between the 1/2s but the 63 series (aka 4 cylinder box) does not have a steel sandwich plate.
  3. Looks like the group 4 fia body work just without the g nose aka type b flares A bit like the aritaspeed kit see here http://www.aritaspeed.com/catalogue/aero.html
  4. Looking up the unifilter catalog R31 = TT267-155S a Z31 = TTN-4200S if I lookup a cross reference for the K&N for the 280z (USDM) I find the following. K&N = 33-2010 (correct for the 280z and Z31 300ZX) this cross references to Ryco A345 which cross references to TTN-4200S Going backwards from the R31 I get TT267-155S = Ryco A360 = K&N 33-2031 which as K&N have the sizing on their site is thinner and other dimensions are slightly different K&N 33-2010 = 35mm H, 270mm L, 156mm W K&N 33-2031 = 29mm H, 279mm L, 167mm W
  5. That is what I will be running also - and I am yet to purchase a K&N Panel Filter for the factory S31/HLS30 aka EFI Fairlady Z (S31) and USDM EFI 280z (HLS30 - not to be confused with the HLS30 USDM 240z lol)
  6. Well done the R-factory item is a nice unit, tappered like the Prince/Nissan item and as close as you can get in an aftermarket unit.
  7. White with a red tracer in the zed is usually a feed from the fusible links via the alternator/regulator charging wire. So that would be power to the switch not the switched ign source. The ignition from the switch is usually a Black with White tracer
  8. I have heard a number of people are now using the TTT boxes and all are happy with the product for the investment. Video is great - can't wait for a full track video
  9. FYI Len can provide the replica items still - will take him a few weeks to get around to making them but can still supply for those in Oz this is one option. I believe I might have found a source locally here in NZ - I will know more before the end of the week. I also might have found a genuine item locally here in Auckland that I will be checking out tomorrow after work. The UK all in one items are ok on price - available from MJP aka Mike http://www.mjpshop.co.uk however shipping is the killer at 3 x the cost of the item. So hoping the local supplier can still produce/supply as they are in Christchurch so shipping from the South Island to North Island will be cheaper than from Australia or UK
  10. They will be the same - the urethane items have a bit of movement in them so depends on age and mounting - but they do look like the one Len had/has.
  11. Guys I am looking for a supplier of the factory front spoiler - this was an option for some markets and factory fitted in others (ie New Zealand seen to have a few of these fitted from the factory like my old red 240z). These were made from urethane but a fibre glass replica is ok by me. Here is a pic of a replica and here is a pic of the urethane factory item installed on my old NZ new 1971 240z (light no the best to show the chin spoiler but you can see it)
  12. That "Datsun 3100" one looks like a modified kameari "Datsun 2400" item. I could do the same but the Datsun 260z would end up at the wrong end as would the oil cap/breather. I guess that depends on the cost of the quote I get back.
  13. Get on the phone, talk to him he will then know who you are and will reply to email. Dave is OK to deal with in this manner.
  14. JDM badging is interesting The S130 = Fairlady Z (2 seater) HS130 = Fairlady 280Z (2 seater) so badged as a 280Z yet a S130 chassis. As we have a lot of JDM import GHS130, GS130, HS130 and S130 it can confuse people which is why we should always go by S30 or S130 as the base chassis code not by the badge on the rear. Also all of the JDM S130 I have seen all have 180km/h speedo's it was the NZ new ones (badged as Nissan 280zx or Nissan/Datsun 280zx depending on the year) that had the 240km/h items. Other things that ID the 2000cc (L20E) cars vs the 2800cc (L28) or the 2000cc Turbo (L20ET) S130 is the bumpers. If the car does not have little over riders built into the bumpers = 2000cc non turbo car. If it does have the over riders = 2000cc turbo or 2800cc powered car well that is how they should be - does not mean someone has not change the bumper over their 30+ year life.
  15. sure is. I have shown the pics and the turbo cover to my fabricator we are going to make a new top for the stock turbo cover but that does depend on the costs. David that purchased the one Benny sold is going to take some measurements from the original item for me so we can replica it as close as we can - this will take some time while I wait for David to get back to me and while I save the $$ for the alloy plate/cutting and cad work etc. The idea is the top is to be welded in a few places on top of the stock cover and bonded with alloy/liquid metal/stuff you know how BMW join the alloy panels together these days. Time will tell how it turns out but it will not be cheap at a guess. We will move the oil filler neck to replicate this too.
  16. NZeder

    Vapor lock

Put an electric pump in it was an option for some markets and as such Nissan made the loom with the wiring already there. Most car parts manuals aka Haynes should show you what colour wire to look for but it will be under the car in the rear and finishes near the centre console if I recall correctly.
  17. One of the club members here in NZ has one of the UK ones on his Targa 240z. I sold my betamotorsport unit as the road car will have a booster now that I have a track car with a dual pedal box. The guy I so sold it to is yet to install it. The Targa 240z owner is more than happy with the setup from the UK as pictured at the start of this thread.
  18. sad but that is what I believe is happening to my old car #16 but it did have flares that were installed on the 70's already it was a bit rough for such an early girl - a shame really.
  19. laser cutting/water cutting I would guess and CAD. That is the plan - anyway I will leave that to my fabricator that I use he will know how once I get him to use the Mill and remove the Turbo and maybe the Nissan from the cover first.
  20. You know the dodgy old plastic sets are the original 240z items right? Nissan made them from plastic in the first year or so as they had not sorted out how to make them out of metal before they wanted to market the cars so plastic was faster to get to production at the time. Well FRP.
  21. Right picked up a Turbo rocker cover that I will strip the turbo letting off and make a custom one up sort of like this to this As these Turbo covers have a good flat area inside the box/rectangle
  22. Result and I bet you had to hack the crap out of the GM mount to get the right total height
  23. Most of the rotor guys here in NZ seem to favour Microtech for this task.
  24. shame they don't make the old "Datsun 260z" one still so looking for a second hand item as that is all I can get of those if I am lucky
  25. Adam - I did not say Kameari - I said Kakimoto
