I sent the dashboard off to the Dashboard Doctor a couple of months ago, and it arrived back yesterday:

It's been a while between updates... A couple of distractions got in the way, but we have still been making progress with #211. While the LH guard was being worked on, I set about finishing off the firewall because in typical Z fashion where the plenum bottom lip joins the firewall, the firewall had rusted though in various spots: So my only choice was to unpick the bonnet catch mount and cut a long strip out of the firewall above and below the plenum flange: The rusty flange was de-rusted, then I made a new patch and welded it in. It was followed up by linishing the welds smooth and tapping it about to make it straight again.

Just push it out. Any decent panel beater will be able to fix it.

I just use the generic ones from my local auto parts store - carefully trimmed to fit. They look indistinguishable from originals.

Emery tape, a wire bush, then apply a rust converter. Let that dry for 24 hours, then paint in there with with a Urathane - I like KBS Rust Seal in Silver. If it's really bad, you need to do this:

Nissan used very soft oil control rings in the pistons. These wear first causing oil to be sucked up into the combustion chamber, hence your blue smoke. Only way to fix it is to rebuild the engine. Black smoke is an overly rich mixture from those horrible flat top Hitachi's that you CAN'T tune out. I suggest fitting 240Z Hitachi's or triple carbs.

There is no such thing as a "Series One 240Z". It's an American-ism dreamt up by some druids in the 70's that has no basis in data or facts.

While I've been finishing off the wiper panel: Paul finished off the metalwork on the LH guard: It then got a good wire-wheeling to remove the light surface rust and given a coat of Phosphoric Acid:

I have had a few done by the Dashboard Doctor in Melbourne - all come back looking great, but if you have the accessory holes cut and want them filled, you have to tell them. Cost is currently $850 and an 8 to 10 week wait.
