  1. Bumping it up to keep it at the top of the latest threads.
  2. Will be good to see how this little thing comes along, keep us updated.
  3. Nice work on the exhaust - welds look good to me, I'd say e garage wall says loads about your current lifestyle. If I had those pictures on the wall my g/f would be questioning me "am I not good enough for you!" haha.
  4. Didn't realise you could do this, but if you go to this URL: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/board,19.0.html Hit the notify button and you'll receive an email each time a new topic is posted in the cars for sale section.
  5. As much as I'd like an S20, I think I'd rather this option also.
  6. I was thinking same thing actually, but wanted to see them do a Z and feature them on the program. I do think their budget will limit them (if they want to do an early Z) a ZX can be had, but not sure how desirable they are on the open market? They already did a TA22 when they did the Japan Episode of the series.
  7. Hi guys, I've been in contact with Duncan. Here is a summary of what he told me. So there is the possibility of getting some Melbourne based cars included in this also. They are looking at buying a japanese classic car for around $4000 USD that can be fixed and sold on as part of the shows theme. I've told him that an early Z may be difficult in that price range as most are projects in need of more than a little bit of work. They are currently looking at 280zx's but I've also said a 260z 2+2 might be ideal and work with their budget. If anyone has or knows a car that would be suitable please get in contact with either myself or Duncan. Regarding Zs to put on display, honestly I wouldn't worry about having the perfect Z. It's not about that, a collection of Zs would be ideal all at various stages of restoration. Don't be afraid that your Z isn't good enough! If it runs, drives that's the main thing! Since they are currently looking at ZX's is there anyone on here with extensive knowledge of the 280zx's impact at the time it was launched in Australia? I feel I don't know enough about their popularity back in the 80s to really give them more detail about their impact on Australian car culture back in the day. Although it seems Nissan sold a lot of them.
  8. LOL not surprised. Must be about 30 guys waiting for a car like this at that price.
  9. Awww, the poor fella everyone rags on him. I actually feel a bit sorry for him because he really does mean well. I know he's not everyone's cuppa tea but I enjoy watching his programs and can see he really has enthusiasm for cars, even if he doesn't always know much about how they work . I enjoyed the Trading Up series he did recently where he went to various countries and traded different types of cars. Well worth a watch. http://www.streetfire.net/video/wheeler-dealers-trading-up-sweden_part-1_2425641.htm Anyway, guys this is a great opportunity to have your cars featured on Discovery and at the same time promote the local club (Sydney Z Club) as well as Auszcar.com. Unfortunately I won't be back in Sydney to attend myself, but it would be great if we can get a few Z owners along to showcase their Zs to the world!
  10. Sounds funny, I assume it vents straight to atmosphere which is not allowed in Australia is it? You have to have it recirculate into the intake right?
  11. The Gnose z was Jacks. Haven't heard from him or his Z since 2006. It was still running L28ET then.
  12. I take it back Rick Gervais had me laughing my ass off. http://comediansincarsgettingcoffee.com/ricky-gervais-mad-man-in-a-death-machine
  13. I kinda agree with Six-Shooter, something about Jerry Seinfeld just rubs me the wrong way. It's like nails on a blackboard and yet I can't quite put my finger on what it is. Although it's not enough to stop me watching anything with cars like this.
  14. I heard about 40-50 were brought into Australia back in the 60s. I actually saw 1 in Melbourne around the year 2000 - I was at School (so was 18 at the time) and I saw it parked down the road from the school (Glen Eira College). It was that same shade of colour but it was in very rough condition, interior was white and mostly original (although had some 80s aftermarket wheel) and the rear boot was smashed in (looked fixable) and the hub-caps were missing. I remember looking at it and wanting to rescue it knowing it was rare back then! Not sure what it's fate was, I saw it once again in Chadstone car park a couple of months later but that was the last I saw of this rare bird. I saw this video a couple of years ago. It's funny to see how the Japanese fellas interact with a real Aussie bloke from QLD who owns 1.
  15. Not sure why this topic was locked. Unlocking it again.
  16. It's so easy to have something like this mothball, I find that once you get started that's the hardest part. Getting that motivation to start on something and work through it. I try to make sure I can get the car back together again relatively quickly as I find nothing more frustrating than not being able to drive it. Looking forward to seeing pictures.
  17. Wow, what can I say those gauges are awesome. I love period correct rare stuff like this, and particularly like the 6 o'clock starting position on them. Very racer or as Alan would put it 'Hashiriya' style . LOL, yeah it's kind of a sick disease to be honest, I find all kinds of rare parts on eBay / Gumtree etc.. and I just have to have it because it's rare and hard to find. I actually complain to my g/f that I've been spending lots of my money on cars but in reality it's not really on maintenance items, rather it's on uber-rare impulse buy stuff oops! It's weird I think half the fun is finding the rare stuff that nobody has.... Really like the G-nose and I love the lower lip, I think it just sets if off. Can't wait to see how this looks when it's all fitted up.
  18. Nice to know it's getting a refresh and upgrades. Are you going to keep it auto or go with a manual box?
  19. I remember it being for sale last time. It looks to have deteriorated quite a bit since it was last available and it's the same asking price as last time. Certainly needs some love again and to remove that god awful rear hatch.
  20. The 1 on eBay is a good price. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DATSUN-FAIRLADY-Z-240Z-260Z-280Z-FRONT-GRILLE-GRILL-OEM-JDM-/161062212891
  21. How much are you looking to spend on 1? I might be able to help source 1 for you, but it's not cheap we're talking $500+
  22. I really like the way your build is coming along mate. Car is looking good, yep you're broke as a result. I think we all know that feeling. At least you're going to be making it much more reliable and good idea on the fire extinguisher.
  23. I think the stripes would work, but it needs to have some writing like Fairlady Z or Datsun 240z in between it. Straight lines don't work for me. I like the way mine says 240z for example, just enough to break it up and give it some purpose. If it was just straight lines I don't think it would look as nice. However I think maybe part of the problem is that with the flares it all looks a little bit busy. The badge you have now works well.
