  1. Ask a blind woman/man who is used to reading in braille to help find the dots?
  2. I'm loving the rear quarter panel repair work.
  3. I bought a carcoon and it's very expensive for what it is, but breathes and protects the car from the elements and keeps it trickle charged. If the car is in a carport you can get a drive in carport version which just zips up. I would like to get 1 myself. I have an outdoor version but it's a pain to take the car out and put cover back on when done. Just takes time and a bit of faffing about. The drive in version would be much easier to live with, but I suspect requires a carport because it has tent like metal bars to give it shape so perhaps in wind the concern is that it may hit into the body of the car. Where as the outdoor version has no supports and just inflates.
  4. Good to know, I had a cheeky bid on these last night. https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e1081298317 but I was a bit nervous about corrosion around the the brake line thread and figured a rebuild won't be a cheap exercise anyway. Plus I was a bit anxious about Australian customs and having used brake pads imported (for asbestos reasons). So let it slide for now.

  6. HS30 11243 More photos of it in the registry/gallery. Bonnet has definitely had a love tap at some point, leading edge looks "thicker" than factory steel, suggesting a bit of nikki (body filler).
  7. Probably but we are an Australian site mostly. So not sure on UK tax laws for imported classic cars. We do have a couple of UK members who may be able to clarify or help if they see this post.
  8. So it appears that it's a 4 speed box (if it's come from an HLS30), therefore I'll keep looking. Thanks anyway, really appreciate the offer all the same.

  11. Clean 240C Sedan. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/nissan/listing/3972842859 Asking price $20,000 NZD
  12. Thanks mate, let me ask the seller what asking prices are and get back to you.
  13. Hi mate, What year car did it come from 70/71? Looks like an L24 with 71a gearbox. What state / area are you in? I could be keen if you're in Victoria.
  14. Thanks mate. Good luck with the sale.
  15. Agree with David. My recommendations are. 4.1 ratio LSD diff. L28 with flat top pistons / N42 head for 10:1 comp. SM needles for SUs.(rebuild the SUs - Z-therapy do excellent work) Since you're in North America contact Steve Bonk for recommendations on camshaft specs. Nice set of headers to suit (if don't have already). E12 Electronic Distributor (Hitachi) off a 280z/280zx. Have it re-graphed to suit your cam / engine set up. A good ignition shop will be able to do this. Around 16 degrees initial advance and a further 16 in mechanical/vacuum total is probably a good combo. But get an experienced shop to set it up. You'll easily spend $6k if you're rebuilding the motor and doing above. But you'll hit 150+HP and have a really good set up in an early Z. I'll find an excellent thread to review also in a minute and link to it. If budget allows I'd highly recommend going Triples..
  16. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1971-datsun-240z-manual/SSE-AD-14205058 I believe this was @alanwil's car but new owner name appears to be Barry.
  17. Any chance you could share the VIN #? I keep a registry updated for these cars and don't believe I have a record of this 240z. Thanks.
  18. I saw #4 in person recently.
  19. What did you paint the bezel with? Vinyl paint? I would think you could buff/polish the plastic for a similar look / restoration.
  20. I would need to look, but I don't think so. I did look at having more made, but not sure of demand. Probably not a bad idea to make a few more.
  21. These days aftermarket rods may be best. By the time you prep factory rods the price is pretty similar to proper rods. I believe Kameari sells suitable rods for example but I hear max speeding rods is another option. 25 odd years back it was all about the LD28 + L14 (136mm) and Honda XL500 pistons combo. As a budget stroker. L14 rods are as rare as hens teeth now however...
  22. I have a friend in NZ I keep finding cranks but they are 6 hours or more drive away from him. Bit of a pain. Also I'm finding sellers unwilling to separate engines and cranks these days. Makes it a bit of a challenge to buy a few in bulk.
  23. If it was me (and if that counts for anything), I'd probably look at using a modern turbo, modern ECU and coil on plug set up etc.. there is some really good stuff now for L-engine guru's. https://www.facebook.com/protunerzz/ And I'd add aircon in the old Z. So you have a nice comfortable street driven Z with modern luxuries like aircon for those hot summer days. But also plenty of power when / if you want it.
