If you can stomach the costs. Ztherapy in the US of A does superb work refurbishing these. I had a couple of sets done when the AUD$ was better and there is a long wait, but well worth it. I rebuilt my own pair also (I have a couple of Zeds) and where Ztherapy are good is realignment of the needle / nozzles and the throttle shaft bushing (they use a roller bearing set up) which seems to provide a smoother throttle response. I'm surprised that nobody locally will take it on. Parts are not that hard to find if you can use eBay and Ztherapy also do rebuild kits which you can buy.

Layout issues since weekend.
gav240z replied to gav240z's topic in Website Feedback & Club Discussions
Okay had a couple of hiccups still so have cleared system cache twice. Hoping that settles things? -
No issues, only extra postage to send it your way.

Hi guys, Just completed a hard refresh of server cache. I ran some updates on the weekend and it appeared to screw with the layout. Things appear better now. Can you confirm if you're still having problems? Please try a hard refresh on your side in case your browser indexed some old layout files etc.. Regards, Gavin.

Hi Folks, I might be able to import a few. Guessing around $1,500 AUD landed. Just checking to see if others are interested in obtaining 1? Freight makes more sense when importing a couple (say 3+).

This is really easy, basically I have had this broken switch for a few years. I got it cheap because it was broken. The little plastic bit inside breaks. Which the spring sits into and has the 2 little plastic nubs that rock on the switch itself to turn hazards on and off. I had been meaning to get a 3D printer for ages. And from the broken pieces I had left inside the switch figure out how to make another. But that never happened. Good thing, someone made the plastic bit as part of a repair kit. It wasn't cheap with shipping but got here fast and it was a 5 min repair job. Always a win IMHO. https://jdm-car-parts.com/products/hazard-switch-repair-kit-for-240z-series-1-1969-8-1971 Basically place the spring in the back of it, apply the dialectic grease on the plastic nubs, slide it onto the metal part and then put the circuit bit back in place (it has tabs so you can only install it 1 way) and then use a set of pliers to crush the edges to hold it in place. Voila working switch again for another 40-50 years. Let's hope! VID20220730195516.mp4

The LOLvo ...... aka The little red wagon that could
gav240z replied to KatoKid's topic in Members Project(s) Journal
https://www.hagerty.com/media/valuation/amid-a-rising-tide-of-bricks-volvos-242-lags-behind/ It’s those thankless activities that are causing the 200-series to appreciate. Among Millennials, the utilitarian wagon is the hottest thing going: Despite comprising only 20 percent of the market, this generation accounts for over half of quotes that Hagerty receives for the long-roof “245” (200-series, four-cylinder, five-door; marketed as such from the factory through 1980). The wagons, in other words, are the most quintessentially Volvo. The five-door (1975–83) earned a spot on our 2022 Bull Market List; but even as their fortunes increase, these durable people-haulers remain eminently practical. -
Builds character, shows it's been used and enjoyed. What's not to like?

SA: 280zx parts and other random parts
gav240z replied to FrankenZed's topic in Parts and Tools for Sale
This for sale thread is over 10 years old now. And the car is a 280zx. Are you after a 260z/280z or 280zx dashboard? Very different designs. -
He needs them for historic racing and they must be the originals with Sumitomo cast into the caliper itself to pass scrutineering.
-
There is no such thing as a RHD 280z Dashboard. The 280z was sold exclusively in North America and was LHD. However a 260z was sold in Australia from 74-78 and was the same style as North American dashboards, but obviously RHD suitable.

For anyone dealing with people over PM you don't really know yet (in the community). If they send photos of the item, you can ask them to send a photo of the item along with a photo of themselves holding the item. This is because many of these scammers are using Google Image search to find a part or product and send that to you claiming they have it. If you ask for a photo of the item in a specific way like with them in the photo or may some other proof that they are who they say they are. Then this should make it harder for scammers to take your money. PayPal offers buyer protection and will return your money if you lodge a dispute, so stick with PayPal if you can't collect the item yourself or have someone else collect it for you interstate and make payment in person. Also if you're ever in doubt as to the credentials of a member feel free to drop me a PM or similar. I can look into the members previous activity on the site and offer an opinion.

I think I downloaded all the JDM Legend episodes. The Skyline turned out great. Might be able to find them on Youtube also.

Sorry to hear this. I'll email you.

I think what they are doing is a great idea, given that OEM cylinder heads are getting harder to source and often in poor shape by this time. I also like the idea of a head you can bolt on that will straight away flow better than anything else. I am eager to see results also, given cost of porting a head and prepping it, the $7-8k is actually not a bad deal.

I have a couple of surplus (unrestored).

EARLY GIRL FOUND: HS30 00197 -Anyone know her ?
gav240z replied to AXE2IT's topic in General Discussions
From Gumtree listing (now gone). Datsun 240z 1970 model. This car has been in the same family for 37 years and this is a regrettable sale as I am moving overseas and the car must go. This 240 is in very good condition for its age, it was originally British racing green but was painted red pre 1985 , has had a touch up since. The motor is the original number matching engine that runs really good. Very early chassis number car. The interior could do with some work but is ok . For anymore info please text or call me on (phone removed car sold) ( please no calls or texts after 8.30pm est. I'm after offers over $50,000. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/corrimal/cars-vans-utes/1970-datsun-240z-sports-manual-coupe/1297703619?utm_source=messenger&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=android_VIP_sticky -

No, it only showed up recently for sale. First as partially disassembled, now it's back together for sale. Last owner has had it many years, so would be the best person to ask about it at this stage. -

You really need to see these cars in person to evaluate the body on them. Someone is always selling a sandblasted shell in epoxy after discovering the car was more far gone than anticipated. IMHO it's better the devil you know. Once you've started, if you keep looking for a better starting point. You end up finding a car without your current cars issues, just another set of issues your current car doesn't have. Given they are 50 years of age now, it's a given they need everything.
