  1. I first saw this on eBay. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DATSUN-240Z-Rally-car-London-to-Cape-Town-Original-Article-2012-/161552693542 Not sure how this got missed? https://www.facebook.com/DatsunAdventures
  2. Not an S30z but a rare Japanese coupe. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/buderim/cars-vans-utes/1970-toyota-corona-rt72-coupe-rare-jdm-classic-240k-ta22-ra28-etc/1066044453 1970 Toyota Corona RT72 Coupe
  3. That is actually the going rate believe it or not? I see them on Yahoo! Auctions go for more than that sometimes. What I find funny is that 260z (280z or S31) rear lights aren't worth anything compared to the early style lights. At some point they will be just as rare and hard to find I'd imagine.
  4. Just in case anyone else is looking in future. I've found you can get the correct bolts and fasteners for the bumpers at Motorsport Auto. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic02n04a02g/14-1275 http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic02n04a02g/14-1445 http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic02n04a02g/14-1446 http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic02n04a02g/14-1322 http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic02n04a02h/32-1033 http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic02n04a02h/32-1034 http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic02n04a02h/32-2130 Just need to source the rubber grommets for the sides etc.. *Edit the navigation of the site is a PAIN IN THE BUTT but looks like they have it here. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/classic02n04a02h http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic02n04a02h/32-1035 http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic02n04a02h/32-2098
  5. If it was me and I could find a decent 1/4 panel I'd just replace that section. It looks like quite a bit of rippled metal there and it's going to take serious man hours to straighten it out. A new 1/4 panel could be un-spot welded and installed a lot faster than that! Probably get a better finish also. Don't get me wrong, it can be repaired and probably done very well but the time invested vs cost of good 1/4 panel and install you'll probably find that fixing what you have will cost more. Besides you've spent so much money on this thing already to get a good result, why not go a little further and find a good 1/4 panel?

Ok so I found these also. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic02d/30-7091A http://www.ebay.com/itm/77-78-Datsun-280z-hood-louvers-hood-vents-/231450196658 FYI: I'm looking to either modify my fluted bonnet by cutting the vents out and welding in new sheet metal to make a non-fluted bonnet. Or I'm going to swap it for a non-fluted bonnet. Only problem is it's missing the rain tray on 1 side and the fastener on 1 or 2 corners has come off / snapped. If someone has a black non-vented bonnet in good shape I'd happily swap it. I can't stand the vented hoods.

If you can find a rust free, straight bonnet without bog at that price you're doing very well these days. These sold recently quite cheap. http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/q54333372 They usually go for 3 times that price.

If you can't let me know? I could probably get a good pair but they cost anywhere from 200 400 AU.
  9. From this post and from the experience others have had using a spectrometer I figured it was going to be a trial and error sort of process. I completely forgot to use the 1 they have at Tafe and won't be back in the class until late February I don't think.
  10. So a couple of updates. 1. So got new tyres, I couldn't believe the old ones were made in 1987! Oh and club plates also. As you can see she's registered and back on the road. 2. I went to visit Ashley at Moorabbin Auto Spares and got some bits and bobs for road worthy / maintenance. He told me about a replacement rear strut for the hatch that seems to work on an S30z. Mine has been wonky for years and would always fall on my head. It's out of some model Toyota and whilst it's not perfect it seems to do the job ok. For $40 I can't really complain either. The only negative really is that it doesn't extend as high as stock. After installing the new strut. Here is the part packaging and numbers... It now sort of opens on it's own with a little nudge which is good and it no longer falls on my head. The only problem I had with install was the old nut and thread on the original strut was damaged and I couldn't remove it, so I had to cut the original strut a bit which I didn't want to do in case I want to rebuild it later. However I should be able to repair the original without too much grief if I ever want to go back to it. For $40 though it's a decent alternative. You can order them through Ash. 3. Unfortunately my Twin Knob Rally Clock seems to have stopped working, it had a hiccup about 7 days ago. Ron has given me a few items to check before I send the clock back to him, but I suspect it's the oscillator box. Bit of a shame as I was enjoying the working clock and ticking sweep hand. Just goes to show that old electronics can be a bit fickle. Ron did say he's never had 1 work for 7-14 days and then quit so he's interested to look at it and figure out what went wrong.
  11. Adam, I think it represents excellent value. I think interest in these vehicles has gone crazy as of late. Thanks for sharing the perspective from the other side so to speak. PS: You still owe me a drive
  12. Thanks for that, yeah I thought it looked similar to the 260z style airbox. I figured it was better to start with that and modify to suit Triples. Rather than build the whole thing from scratch. I really like the clips on top of the airbox and of course the wing nuts that go on the side. They were a really well engineered piece in my opinion.
  13. Sorry I always do that, I meant C110 but I always end up typing C10.
  14. Actually filtration would be easy, just a small filter at the entry point of the airbox. The S20 airbox actually extends out in front of the radiator. See this: http://www.geocities.jp/datsunz903/ So any kind of pod or K&N filter could work in there.
  15. Nice looks somewhat similar to Safari Gold alright. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,13624.0.html Good to see you're keeping it the original colour.
  16. That's ok, I've actually never seen the NISSAN OHC cover like that either. That's a first for me. Very rare. Funny as it sounds I kinda want to make it a metal airbox like the standard SU box. Please do. Yeah I've seen it before, I was actually looking at the 260z 'boat anchor' style airbox yesterday that Ash had lying around. You would need to cut it up a bit (remove the bottom flapper part) and extend it a bit further, but I thought it was a good starting place and once powder coated orange would look good. I figure someone might want to turf a 260z air box, since they seem undesirable and I wouldn't want to cut up a 240z box.
  17. That Alfa colour is similar to Safari Gold from the look of it. What is the colour code or name? I'd be interested to see how it looks when restored compared to the S30z colour.
  18. Hi guys, I was at Ash's shop today, Moorabbin Auto Spares and saw in 1 of the magazines this article. But it's the last imagine here that piqued my interest. I thought it might be the Prince Skyline GT-B airbox. But as you can see it's quite a bit more narrow than the 1 pictured in the C10 Sedan. So what airbox is it?
  19. I was wrong... 70,000 yen and this set. http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/187380814 went for around 60,000 yen...
  20. It depends on price but yes.
  21. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,13929.msg146871.html#msg146871 It wasn't that car was it?
  22. The old tyres on it were from 87 . Anyone want some vintage rubber? They were in good shape for their age but obviously it is going to transform the car with new shoes.
  23. Didn't actually get them yet, tyre shop had them come in late. So I'm getting them tomorrow morning fitted. I'll let you know what aspect ratio they are. However I did say 60 so hopefully that's what they are. I'm going to look for some kind of tyre wall paint so I can colour in the writing on the side walls. I asked if you could get tyres like that but he said they would have to be special order these days as only 4x4 tyres still come like that.
  24. Jaysus (sorry Rev for the blasphemy) but that just makes my whole situation with the 240z at that workshop the other day that bit more suspect.
  25. Hey Rev, If you still need seats get in contact with Ashley at Moorabbin Auto Spares. He has a couple of seats lying about, just not sure if he has enough 240z style rails.
